[Archived] Man United Sign Larsson
Rovermatt replied to Ricky's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
It's a good opportunity for Larsson to show all the nay-sayers who said he couldn't score goals in England. On the other hand, I hope he bags zero goals and United finish potless again. -
[Archived] Blackburn Rovers 2 - 0. Fulham Fc
Rovermatt replied to rog of the rovers's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
We should win this. Fulham ain't great. 2-0 Rovers. -
Bully is very, very good. I'm also struggling through Devil May Cry 3 which is fortunately a hugely enjoyable game because it's one of the hardest I've played.

I saw The Prestige last night. Absolutely bloody amazing.
-
They had more clear cut chances, but they were far from being the better side.

That was a very tough game against intimidating opposition. We did well to come away with the necessary point. However I was concerned that we were unable once again to get in behind them. With the exception of Savage's great run and shot, we didn't threaten their goal or even look like scoring. Nonda obviously missed a good chance but even that was an awkward one.

[Archived] Upcoming 360 Games

I would be using the console for gaming only. Is the only way of saving your games through memory cards in the absence of the 20GB hard drive? -
[Archived] Upcoming 360 Games

I'm thinking of getting a 360. What are the implications of getting a standard model without the 20GB hard drive? Does this mean that I can only save on memory cards? -
I saw Casino Royale last night. I have to say I was impressed. It was far superior to the last couple of ghastly attempts. The stripped down, brutal edge was far more welcome than invisible cars and giant ice palaces. Graig himself was utterly superb. He's not stupidly good-looking and has an air of menace reminiscent of Connery (and to a lesser extent Timothy Dalton). The plot was solid save for the last 10 minutes which made no sense at all.

[Archived] Rovers 1-1Tottenham
Rovermatt replied to bellamy11's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
We'll lose this in typically miserable fashion. Pascal Chimbonda and Ledley King to be in amongst the goals. 2-0 Spurs. -
What a sad, deluded, ignorant, uneducated little man.

No. I haven't bought it yet.

Get it bought.

[Archived] And The Beeb Says We Want Beckham.....
Rovermatt replied to dave birch's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Mokoena-the South African Beckham. Or maybe not. -
Awful. Absolutely bloody awful. I hate Manchester United. We were abysmal from start to finish, allowing them total control of the field and only their finishing (hampered by difficult conditions) let down the build-up play we so readily accomodated. United didn't even need the ref's help (he was in fact very fair). Our sloppy passing and lack of penetration was infuriating. Four losses on the bounce and three points above the drop-things ain't good. As an aside, the commentating was disgraceful. They were literally willing United to score, appalling stuff.

Beckham is an excellent player. However there is no way we would ever sign him. -
Have Cardiff played Leeds away yet?

I agree wholeheartedly. I switch off MOTD when their highlights are on. Unless they've been beaten of course. I have to say I'm a great admirer of Arsenal. They have the best footballers in the league and their style of play is utterly awe-inspiring. If Rovers can't win the league I would much rather Arsenal take the title than Chelsea. I don't even contemplate such thoughts when it comes to United. Having said that, Arsenal are a bunch of whingers. If the opposition tackles hard and doesn't play a high line-like Watford did (for whatever reason) last month-Arsene and his players whine and moan as if these things are a crime.

Eh? United are the absolute scum of the universe (that's putting it lightly). The self-styled biggest club in the world, they are the epitome of everything that is wrong with modern football. Chelsea may be equally as abhorrent but United got to that place first. Their fans (great hordes of whom don't even come from Manchester) are complete tits, their manager is a genuine bullying football @#/? and Roy Keane used to play for them. Lucky late goals, countless favourable penalty decisions, consistently bad refereeing, Rio 'you just got merked innit' Ferdinand, sychophantic media coverage and hours of accumulated injury time-I hate Manchester United. Yes they have some excellent players. But I find little joy in their 'terrific attacking football'. The glory days of the 90s are past but should that be reason enough to stop despising them? That only adds credence to the long-held argument by United fans that we were all 'jealous'. I can say I was never once 'jealous' of Man USA. Not even on the night of the disaster in Barcelona was I jealous. Upset (very) yes. But not jealous. Give me Chelsea or Arsenal any day.

 Genius.

Nothing would make me happier than handing out a beating to the team who are still the most hateful in the league. I'm not confident though. We'll be very accomodating and give them a couple of goals they don't even deserve. A maddening 2-0 loss I'm afraid.

This was worst result I have ever suffered as a Rovers supporter. The damnable thing was that it was so bloody inevitable. It has to rank up there with the disgraceful home defeat by a long-doomed Forest-completely and utterly unacceptable. I have never felt so low as I did that afternoon.
-
Inevitable result.

I'll have to disagree strongly. I found it to be a fascinating insight into the greatest player of the last twenty years. Certainly the best player I've ever seen. Everything about Zidane's career and style is epitomised in the 92 minutes; his majestic, almost balletic, skill, his economy of movement, the way in which he can control a game simply by being on the field and finally the dark throes of rage that can suddenly engulf him.
