It's a brilliant piece of literature. I haven't finished it yet. I've just read past the bit where Amir meets the Talib in John Lennon glasses. I thought I knew who he was and it was confirmed as soon as the book states that his 'beard was of a lighter colour than the other Talibs.' -

Horrific stuff. -
There's a new trailer about for some dodgy looking spy franchise... Holy sh!t...

It's especially good if we can get rid of HMS Matteo.

Classy guy Michael Gray. Some Rooney spin-doctor claims that there is no ill will as far as Wayne is concerned. Yeah right.

'A bit over-priced'. You've been robbed blind I'm afraid. Kuqi is a donkey of the old school. He runs about a lot without accomplishing very much. He has no skill or touch to speak of and lacks the composure to be truly clinical in front of goal. However, he is totally comitted. He is also a proper professional who doesn't whine, kick up a fuss or talk sh*te.

Hardly. Some of the stuff Peel played was sh*te. However he never came across like a prick. -

--> QUOTE(ste b @ Aug 29 2006, 16:15 ) 440107[/snapback] Now that's something I should add to the swear filter. Perhaps. But it would of course preclude the word being used in any other context. -

[Archived] Rovers 0 Chelsea 2
Rovermatt replied to American's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
It wasn't a game we were going to win. Then again it wasn't a game we should have needed to win. After our first two disastrous matches of the season, a fixture against Chelsea was the last thing we wanted. We settled well but a penalty decision (which, in my opinion, was technically correct) put paid to any chance we had of coming away with points. I thought Ooijer did ok, though he'll have to get used to the pace of the English game if he is to be a success. I was impressed with Bentley today. McCarthy also looked quality but once again Pedersen was a passenger. P!ssed off. -

Kanu was feeling a little bit nervous before the game. Harry however had some words of comfort for the big lad. "Dahn't warry san. We got Rowvers tudaiy. Lads makin' their debuts awways scor agaynst 'em" And so it was. Nothing changes. -

[Archived] Is The Premiership Becoming Boring?
Rovermatt replied to PL Project's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Is the Premiership boring? The answer is both yes and no. Any boring aspects of it spring from the lack of competition at the top. Chelsea are clearly the dominant force right now, with financial backing that dwarfs anything Manchester United had at their disposal over the last decade. Abramovich will fund as many blockbuster signings as needs be. Yet these signings are anything but whimsical. Mourinho captures the best team players in the world; footballers who are able to suit the system absolutely. Arsenal have some truly excellent players and a brilliant coach. These elements, along with the increased financial muscle borne of a new stadium, may well ensure their top two status. Livepool have an excellent team (and the world's best midfielder in Steven Gerrard) which should push Chelsea all the way this season. United, once so powerful, look the least healthy. Aside from the outrageously gifted Rooney and Ronaldo, they lack real cutting edge. The fading powers of Giggs, Scholes and Solskjaer and the loss of Van Nistelrooy will be difficult to overcome. Yet the above clubs are existing on a different plane to the rest of the league. The real competition is for 5th and 6th place with a host of teams all fighting for the scraps from the top four's table. Avoiding relegation is also an achievement in itself. In this respect the league is dull, the final standings are roughly predictable. Then again, what league isn't? Spain, Italy, Germany, France, Scotland, Portugal and Holland all have leagues in which the big teams always win the top prizes. As a spectacle, the Premiership is anything but boring. At its very best, the pace, power and excitment of the English game is completely unrivalled. There will always be bland, forgettable encounters. Yet how can a league containg the likes of Henry, Rooney, Gerrard, Lampard, Robben and Fabregas be anything but pulsating. The arrival of yet more class in the shapes of Ballack, Shevchenko, Rosicky, Berbatov and McCarthy will allow for an even higher level of play. I can't wait. -

McCarthy wears 17 for South Africa. He wore it for Ajax and he wore it for Celta Vigo. He didn't wear it for Porto because it was already taken. -

That means that if we were to sign Ooijer he would probably play at right back. Lucas is our only recognised right back, but has shown how good he is in the centre. We have players that can fill in at right back, Zurab, Aaron, Reid and hopefully Ooijer, but is this another department that we need to strengthen? By the way, great result last night, granted that it was against poor opposition. McCarthy sounds like he could be a real capture and his partnership with Roberts could work well. What was the team last night? -

Sounds like a barnstormer from McCarthy. Let us hope we're equally as chuffed this time next week. -
I agree with Kermode's opinion of The Thin Red Line - absolutely astonishing film-making. Malik is a crackpot but he's a brilliant director. However The New World was utterly bizarre.

Mark Kermode is a moron.

I bought my dad Gilmour's latest for his birthday. I have to say it's superb.
