  1. Feck me last time we won it the EFL sent the trophy to Middlesbrough assuming they’d be champions. No guard of honour needed - and I doubt it would be requested
  2. He probably deserved October to January however I thought last month would be Carrick or JDT.
  3. Ahh but if was him I’d be thinking “once I’ve honoured the pact there is nothing stopping him breaking it” so I’d get my retaliation in first 😂. I’m sure you will both have a great stag/weeding day though and will ‘stick to the agreement’
  4. No matter what, 2 families lives are ruined because some blokes feel the need to go looking for fights on match days. It’s quite ridiculous - I’d happily meet people on here - with a few exceptions - post match to chat about the game etc without any desire to start punching people.
  5. You can see on the video, it’s a blow to the chest and he tumbled backwards, hitting his head on the floor that has done the damage, not a glass. Still tragic no matter the circumstances. But they weren’t attacked, they were the instigators and it led to this sad outcome. I understand this isn’t the first time this season, at this pub. When will men and boys learn? I’m guessing never (as @goozburger said earlier) but I have to hope. I have children - and grand children now - and I don’t want to worry every time they go to a match this might happen.
  6. It’s tragic. As for the full weight of the law, I’m sure he will be appropriately sentenced once it comes before a judge, there is more than enough video evidence going around to give them a full picture of events. Hopefully this is a wake up call for some about getting involved in violence at any time for any reason.
  7. Really? My first post on this thread was Jan 5th 2022. If I was to check the Premier League thread for last season I’m confident I will have posted. That said I can sense the prevailing mood.
  8. I reckon you’d have been better playing us on the 19th as we aren’t really flying right now. We may not be come later in April of course but a bird in the hand and all that.
  9. By heck I can tell you lot have won a few games. No excuses, I was asked a question by booth and answered. We are still unbeaten, still top scorers, still have the tightest defence, still 13 points ahead of second, 17 ahead of third and 19 ahead of you in 4th with with 33 points to play for. No excuses just a summation of the recent results. Oh and we are still considered more than 99% likely to go up and 96% likely to be champions.
  10. Yeah it maybe more prevalent to be fair - I generally avoid away fixtures now because of the trouble you encounter and I definitely don’t go on coaches, way to old for that malarkey.
  11. Quite a few injuries and 9 games in 27 days - with two trips to London Saturday/Tuesday. Also it isn’t like we’ve been terrible, we’ve dominated but haven’t scored and haven’t created enough chances against very determined opposition. We could do with Benson back as a different threat.
  12. I wish it was just ours - they could simply ban us from away games and solve the problem. Then follow this by banning every club whose fans get involved in match day violence from travelling. Truth is they have already banned the old school trouble makers but recent seasons has seen a new younger breed, coked up or whatever, have started attending (home and away) with the sole intention of watching the opposition fans and looking for trouble - though I understand person in this incident is 33. Is it that new though, it was definitely aroun lates 80s/early 90s? I truly believe that one of the biggest issues has been the emboldenment of the right by the arguments used to win Brexit allied with the rapidly declining standards of living for the working class the government have overseen over the last 13 years. I noticed before we came down there were more regular issues in the EFL. For example issues at that Bridge in Wigan every home game etc. I don’t know if that is all the awkward PL kick off times or higher profile policing or other factors. Very sadly yes he was, by known hooligan City fan from Rossendale who was already banned by Burnley. The circumstances of these incidents never make the outcome any less tragic or sad though - for the victims and their nearest and dearest. Indeed, Police and Stewards will need to be on it. There is recent history.
  13. No I watched it on a pretty poor stream. Blackpool were very well organised, we huffed and puffed but couldn’t find a way through - when we did their keeper made the saves.
  14. I’ve read an article this morning saying the fan was in ICU so I hope that is still the case and he recovers. Why do people do this, it is just tragic. I also heard a story that a Burnley fan was stabbed earlier in the day as well.
  15. Don’t shoot the messenger but apparently if we are champions at that point it is our right to request recognition from the opposition 🤷‍♂️ That’s good to hear 👍🏻
  16. Blackpool managed to shut us out. We were a bit lethargic from what I’ve seen but it can be hard when a team is well organised and sits 10 behind the ball for 90 minutes - and it’s another away point and another undefeated. On another note, and I’m posting this here to avoid the wrath of Gav - I watched your game on Sky and it seemed someone had some medical issues. I do hope whoever it was is ok and able to fully recover.
  17. Sad - but true. Owing them and collecting not always the same thing. They had the game for us that day, no reason they won’t again. This is the most pointless part of these games. Of all the idiocy that occurs, smashing each others grounds up and landing your own club with a huge bill whilst not in any way inconveniencing the opposition fans you apparently hate. I’d already decided I wouldn’t go to this game but with all the additional jeopardy of promotions/champions/play off spots I definitely won’t be reconsidering.
  18. You looked good last night - much better than you did against us - Dolan in particular looked dangerous. Presume we won’t play now until 25/26 April so lots of ups and downs before we play.
  19. Tin pot? Meh. Currently 21 points ahead of you having been only 2 in front points just 14 games ago? Definitely.
  20. I don’t see how that Huddersfield team survives if today is any measure - we really should have hit 8 or 9. We have Blackpool away next in the league then Wigan at home. Be interesting to see how they compare.
