  1. At the start of the season a few on here warned/advised about Luton’s mastery of the dark arts. We saw it in full flow yesterday! That said they managed to stop us playing our game and maybe should have got at least a point, maybe all 3. The battle for the play offs beginning to look very tasty.
  2. Would take a monumental c**k up on our part now. Sheff Utd have a game in hand so it’s likely they will need to lose 4 more than Boro - or go on a run of draws. Not impossible but the ‘supercomputer’ has them @ 80% to be promoted.
  3. Carrick seems to have Middlesbrough flying - maybe the top 2 isn’t a done deal yet.
  4. What about the season in Division 2, this level, the one where he came close to blowing it as I recall. Are you suggesting you weren’t outspending the competition heavily?
  5. As has been said. We are going round in circles on this. We likely won’t make progress.
  6. So our success is purely down to money but yours had nothing to do with money. Sounds about right …
  7. I didn’t say it was - I said it was a major contributor to the late goals we’ve scored to rescue games/points. Against PNE it was simply a gulf in class and tactics. Last night was different - lest we forget the Watford squad to a large extent was assembled at great expense in the PL so the gulf in player quality is not great at all. By far? We rarely get more than one or two in teams of the week that are dominated by the likes of Sheff Utd etc - indeed in Berge, NDiaye, McBurnie, Brewster, Bogle all cost more than our players and are generally higher rated than ours. We do have some very good players for sure but we are not alone in that. We have good players that were brought together 6 months ago and have been exceptionally well coached by Kompany and his team.
  8. I have no idea - my point was they were given a lot of added time - which seemed to be your point about us v Rotherham and our late goals so I was simply highlighting this. I’m not ignoring any of those things - the point is we score late goals to win points when we aren’t at our best and I believe it is because of that mentality. The league clearly shows we have been better than most, maybe all apart from Sheff UTD, but earlier in the season we dropped points we shouldn’t have and for me that was in part because our mentality was frail because the squad was just as good as it is today.
  9. Literally first teams that came to mind, inevitably other than my own team I only tend to be aware of those that dominated at various times - I could have also said our team from 15/16 I suppose. I thought I was quite clear, we are nowhere near those teams, except perhaps in mental strength. But still if it makes you feel better about things, fair enough.
  10. The joke was Rotherham’s time wasting. To be honest he could have added 15 minutes and wouldn’t have been generous . I notice you don’t mention WBA scoring in the 9th minutes of time added on at the end of our game against them 🤷‍♂️. I have to concur, and you see it all too often for it to be a coincidence. I think off the Fergie teams with Keane in them, Arsenal with Viera, the great Barca and Real teams, the German national sides of the 80s and 90s. And before anyone jumps, I’m not suggesting we are as good as them, just that we have that winning mentality. I would also point out last night we had 70% possession, 4 times as many shots and 5 on target to their 1 so over the game it was hardly ‘lucky’.
  11. I’ve no idea but they do struggle to put in a decent show.
  12. Yet this whole thread started as a celebration of our impending relegation - chinney reckon? 😬 Good question. I think you guys had/have much more individual quality. They wanted to graft but I saw little quality or effectiveness but they had very few answers to us.
  13. Of course - but I hope you don’t 😬 I think it’s about 7 rising to 9. So far he hasn’t looked it though. 10 wins on the spin. PNE were woeful to be honest.
  14. You’ve claimed this many times - and many times I’ve said I don’t recall this but all the same if I said anything out of order I apologise. I do have a hazy recollection of a discussion about how Jack Walker was likely delighted he was still living ‘rent free’ in the Burnley fans heads, I don’t recall celebrating his death on here or anywhere else. But I’m amazed that despite your claims I wasn’t banned. If anything this place was less accommodating back then than it is today - and today opposition fans are removed for stepping over the line.
  15. For the record I’ve been on here since 2004!
  16. Not at all - I’m hoping we beat you so badly we create a chasm in your psyche so big you’ll never want to come within 100 clicks of any Burnley team (I’m paraphrasing from Avatar there 😬) We have off days for sure but playing at our best we are anything but ordinary - though I appreciate we are ‘no Fulham or Bournemouth like last season’ (although we have 4 points more than Fulham had at this point last season and 12 more than Bournemouth 🤷‍♂️)
  17. I am certain your guys will display more fight, at home. They will feel they have some wrongs to put right. It’s a fair comment but when we were embarrassed by your team we were simply out classed in every area. We fought though. Your team was simply too good - and far more expensively assembled than ours. But fight, you don’t have to be Maradona to have fight. It was the main thing that surprised me about the home game, total lack of blood, sweat and tears. A mate (Liverpool fan) messaged me at half time because he was watching and my comment to him was ‘they haven’t laid a glove on us’. If you have to lose at least go down swinging. I think the return fixture will be a chance for your squad to have a right go at us and try to put a few things right - and if they can’t win them at least let us know we were in a derby.
  18. It’s the same from your side - if half the people are to be believed there were only Rovers fans at the turf. I’m sure the odd Burnley based Rover gets a ticket in the home ends and vice versa but very very few. As for the allocation - within the requirements of the league (is it still 10% of the capacity unless you can demonstrate exceptional circumstances/segregation issues etc?) then it really is up to yourselves and we have to get on with it.
  19. Haven’t touched any parachute payments - they aren’t paid until the end of season. We’ve spent around 35 million and raised around 70 million in sales. So far we have a negative net spend.
  20. It really isn’t. A few tough games coming up against play off contenders and everyone loses eventually. That said probably a bit conflicting for you, want us to lose but also want those around you to lose.
  21. Burnley ‘B’ winning at the league leaders, who’d have thought it. Apparently Arteta forgot who he was playing and congratulated Burnley on their win 😂
  22. 55 in April. I was around in ‘75 but my football memories from back then are limited. My dad had no interest in football - so much so that his best friend, my ‘uncle Eddie’, who was a massive Rovers fan, took to St James’ Park when they were working in the NE in the 60s (they were musicians). Apparently my dad just moaned about being cold for 90 minutes so he swore never to go with him again 😬. So it was only at my grandparents where I heard much about footie and started getting myself down with my mate from being about 10 in ‘78. I obviously was there for Lincoln - and all the cup games recently - so I take nothing for granted.
