  1. I think on reflection it may be time for another change. We need somebody who's used to winning not somebody who's used to losing.
  2. I agree, I was quite surprised Johnno was by passed in the recent re-shuffle.
  3. Jesus Christ, that's hard to believe. These guys have been playing at academies since they were young kids and they still don't know the basic skills of team play. What have they been doing ? Practicing bloody step overs and keepy uppy ? Modern footballers, I've @#/? them !
  4. We booked a full sized coach from my workplace in Rochdale for that game, 50 guys out of 150 staff. A great night out, for all concerned. I was on the big open end near the river. We were packed in like sardines. What a Bloody weekend , Rovers played like @#/? and my lot got a guy sin binned 10 minutes from the end at Batley, we blew a 14 point lead in that time to lose with the last kick of the game 38-36 !
  5. Rochdale have never been as well off as they are now and that's on gates of 3'500. They've got plenty in the bank all courtesy of a manager who has found a succession of failures and turned them into big money sales. The latest of which went for £10 million plus in the last window, Rochdale got 25% of that for a guy he picked up from non-league football Same as he did with Craig Dawson. The manager who isn't good enough for Rovers.
  6. Do yourself a favour guys. It's over. Of the ingredients you need to get out of a jam, we haven't got any of them. Once you accept the fact the pain gets a bit less.
  7. The next two games will tell just what a poor collection of " players " we have amassed.
  8. I'll be able to walk to one of them. Rochdale v Rovers. 20 minutes walk for me.
  9. One of the best games I ever saw was Hornets 7- Dewsbury 2. The tackling was immense. Going back when Dewsbury were a top side with Stevo in his pomp at hooker. He's still be best hooker I've ever seen.
  10. That's an old time rugby league score. I'm not a fan of the summer rugby basketball type scores.
  11. Yeah there are some real knobs supporting Yorkshire rugby league teams. My lot have hit a bit of a wall. It's a really @#/? weekend when both Rovers and Hornets lose badly. Away at Batley today.
  12. I was underwhelmed with his appointment but I was prepared to give him a chance. If you can't rally the troops for a game as important as today I'm sorry but you haven't got what it takes. Keith Hill again for me. Somebody who knows how to operate on a shoestring in the League we'll be playing in next season.
  13. Okocha was top class. For Bolton fans he'd be up there with Tugay.
  14. He played no 6 now and again but he was no 4 most the time. He had a spell at no 6 when Andy McEvoy was at no 4 before Andy moved up to join the strikers.
  15. Dougie was quicker and he had that change of pace that did people. Tugay was a better passer of the ball though. First time I really saw him play he floated a long ball down field for Jansen to run onto. He'd put back spin on the pass so just as Matty got to the ball it sat up perfectly for Matty to lob the goalkeeper. Brilliant.
  16. Tugay would have been what was known as a wing half then, either No 4 or 6. When I first started teams were just beginning to copy the Brazilian style of play which was 4-2-4. Teams had one predominantly attacking wing half supporting the forwards along side a deep lying forward and one predominantly defensive wing half covering the centre half. You can guess which role Tugay would have played.
  17. Well when I started watching in the 1961-62 season Dougie was playing on the right wing but it wasn't long before he was moved to the attacking midfield role wearing the No 10 shirt. I'd have him in midfield Jim, you want you best player on the ball as much as possible.
  18. It's not the losing Baz, it's the manner of the losing. England never really turned up. Ireland played exactly like everybody knew they would and yet for 80 minutes we'd no answer. That did me st the end when we had 90 seconds to get out of jail and we kicked the ball away for an Irish line out ! Dumb rugby doesn't sum it up.
  19. It's an old saying but you can't play without the ball in rugby. Any team that needs a try to win the game with less than 2 minutes left yet kicks for touch so the Irish can have a line out deserves to lose.
  20. Oh dear, just when Scotland fancied their chances. Blown away. That's the best England have played for quite a while. Scotland were really dangerous from a yard out.
  21. Sorry, yes I do mean Escare, where Esteve came from I don't know ! Don't know what's going on in Super League, Saints going nowhere, Leeds going nowhere, Hudds ditto, Wire struggling at the moment Salford and Widnes no great shakes , Bradford gone and getting beat by Hornets. Wigan should run away with it.
  22. I don't follow Super League as much as I used. I didn't realise Wigan had several players missing also. What this Esteve like at full back ?
  23. I had first half of The Wire v Wigan game on GMR last night. Sounds like Wigan are going well with George Williams starting to look the part. What's gone wrong at Warrington ?
  24. Playing against men even at a lower level will toughen him up. He'll learn how to give as good as he gets physically and look after himself off the ball.i
  25. Yeah we ran Hull KR very close and should really have beat Halifax in the two games we lost. Spurned a couple of very kickable penalties at a crucial time against Halifax to run the ball instead and came up empty. Hornets v Oldham on Sunday - the big one !
