  1. I would imagine Rovers are trying to rush this through now. Am I correct in saying that if a bid is accepted before midnight we are still allowed to continue any transfer dealings?
  2. I think Flitty is a must in midfield.
  3. Wouldn't say that was entertaining - they battered us for most of the match I thought it was terrifically gripping watching us hang on in the face of an onslaught. Maybe "entertaining" is the wrong word, but very very dramatic, which is also a good thing.
  4. £5m will do for me, I'm afraid. I can't see that being offered by any other club. I'd be distraught if Barry Ferguson was playing like he does for another Prem club and we'd bid that.
  5. Sorry, but being decent in the face of posts including derisory terms like "Jock" and "Jockland" and being told to go away and "eat some haggis", I think I've done well on here thus far. However, none of my terms were derisory. I merely said "the typical English view". What else can I word it like? I suppose I could have said, "the typical view from down South", but Blackburn are an English club, the English papers are writting the stories in question, so the term used was a fair one. I didn't make ONE derisory comment towards England. I have a good mate from London who's a diehard Gooner ... if I slated England I'd have him to answer to! And as for the conspiracy thing ... Ferguson has told Iain King of the Scottish Sun, directly, that "all he wants to do is come home". See my earlier post. He told Viola he wants home, Viola came to us, we acted accordingly. Is the Scottish Sun as "respectable" as the English Sun?
  6. Definitely not getting the Kasabian praise. I've listened to the album three or four times and it's appearing to me to be more overhyped rubbish.
  7. Jesus Christ Abbey, why does everybody take everything said on here to be a personal attack? It's like when USABlue jumps straight in if somebody half-subconscously insinuates that you have to go to matches or live in Blackburn to understand something. No I'm not saying you're wrong for bringing your kid. I'm not saying he's wrong for turning up. I'm not saying Rovers are wrong for having a strategy to bring young kids in. This is not a criticism of you or what you do on Saturdays. It isn't a criticism of anybody who brings a kid to matches. It was simply my view on what nodrog said concerning free tickets for 8-12 year olds. From my own personal example, I didn't get into football until I was old enough to start playing it competitively, and the free tickets did nothing for my little brother because he hadn't built up any interest. Don't just assume I'm here to insult you. We're all here just to post our opinions, and if it happens to be different from your own situation then don't just assume it's a criticism, OK? never said it was a personal attack but to question whether its right for under 8s to attend matches well say no more. Why cant 6 year olds enjoy football? It would take more than a few words on here bellamy to insult me I assure you. If you can find where I say that it isn't right to bring under 8s to matches or that 6 year olds can't enjoy football then I'll buy you and your son a pint of guiness each tonight
  8. I'll assume what I like thanks. Who are you to tell me what to assume? If I assume you're making a personal attack that's my choice. I'm bloody sick of people like you telling me what to assume.# I strongly disagree with whatever it is you just said.
  9. It's sad isn't it Paul? I'd probably like to think myself lucky. Without ever saying as much, my dad gave me the opton to support a number of local teams. He took me to Ewood park first, but I've also been to Turf Moor to watch Burnley play Oldham, I've been to Huddersfield to watch them play Northampton, and I've been to Deepdale (but I forget the opposition). He never said "choose a team" or anything like that, but I think that he was allowing me the choice of whether or not to support Rovers. As it was, like with Nick Hornby in Fever Pitch, the first team I saw was the one I ended up falling in love with. I'd actually blame the media more than apathetic dads for kids supporting Utd. Thge amount of backpage and frontpage news they are involved in can cloud a kid's judgement purely because all he ever hears about is United. You can't force anybody to love a club. The armchair United fans don't love a club in the way that we all unconditionally love Rovers.

  11. I'd have to agree with nodrog here. The first match I went to, we lost 1-0 to Leicester. I didn't watch any of it, and insisted we leave as soon as the gates opened. The second match I went to, we beat Norwich 7-1 at home on a very famous day. I can't remember seeing a goal because I stared at the floor all game (the laws of averages would suggest I saw at least one though!). Over the summer I started playing football when I was in Cubs, and immediately became more interested in it. I watched nearly every match of World Cup '94 and found it a brilliant spectacle. Was also great being able to stay up late with my dad just to watch the footy. Got a free season ticket for the next season (and what a season) and was hooked in the first home game when we beat Leicester 3-0. My little brother also had a free ticket so always came along. But he never played football and never took an interest in it, so as soon as he got to the age where his ticket cost money he stopped going. I think the point is that it isn't enough usually just to take the child along on a free ticket. It's much more beneficial for him to be genuinely interested in the entire game, be it playing or watching whatever is on tv. This would mean that free tickets for 8-12 year olds would be a better idea because they are more likely to appreciate what they are seeing.
  12. I don't want to see the fans turning on our own captain in our biggest local derby. The match is too important. I do see it happening though. Every fan needs to be 100% behind every player who, in turn, needs to be 100% behind the club. We won't have that with Ferguson, so I doubt having him in the team is the ideal way to go.
  13. Absolutely shocking loss from one of the biggest clubs in the world at home to mighty Fulham today ( ). At this rate the Premiership title looks beyond them for this season at least.
  14. ..... because they've unsettled our player ? Some would say that is what we did to Birmingham over Savage. Agreed. We can't have it both ways.
  15. Paul I'm shocked! Just yesterday (I think) you censored the word "balls" in one of your posts. Will somebody please think of the children!
  16. I was wondering if anybody has a copy of this great match on tape? You know the one - where Tim Flowers displayed his bottle. I'd be willing to pay if neccessary to get a copy.
  17. Following a 1-1 draw in Cardiff in which neither side looked like winning, a replay was required at Ewood Park. Rovers have been in great form recently - our record of shutouts is looking formidable and is building the base for a few tight wins, such as the ones against Bolton, Charlton and Pompey. Cardiff brought a drunken, rowdy crowd who were prepared to sing all game (although there weren't 3000 as promised), whereas Rovers once again had a poor crowd as a result of some scandalous ticket prices. In honesty, the performance was not great. We started the better of the two teams, and Gallagher had a shot over before we took the lead. Neill advanced down the right, cut inside and slipped the ball to Gallagher whos neat touch rolled the ball into the path of an onrushind David Thompson who smashed an unstoppable shot past Warner. This gave Blackburn the ascendancy and Thommo in particular was prepared to shoot from anywhere. However, as the game wore on, Cardiff came more and more into it. Kavanagh had a stinging low drive saved by Friedel before finally they grabbed an equliser. Neat interplay allowed the dangerous Jobi McAnuff to slip past a slack Neill and blast the ball past Friedel from a tightish angle. Rovers failed to take the game back to Cardiff, but went ahead agains with a bit of a freak goal. Thommo chipped the ball into the area for the onrushing Gallagher who had beaten the offside trap. He unged for the ball but failed to make contact, but the bounce totally baffled Warner who could only watch the ball agonisingly float in at the far post. The half closed out naturally, with Rovers never totally comfortable. The crowd got their first exclusive Savage interview as a Rovers player. He was keen to stress that the main reason he joined Blackburn was Mark Hugh.....being closer to his parents. He promised to give it his all, and I can't see him being anything other than a hit with the Blackburn faithful. An early goal was needed to be comfortable, and superhuman goal machine MGP duly obliged by wrapping a good cross into the net in devastating fashion. His celebration in which he jumped into the crowd (not due to his momentum) should have seen him booked really, but it was great to see him take the applause. I think, at that moment, he was truely accepted, and the roar that greeted his name on the Tannoy matched this. What should have been a routine exercise in defending a lead turned into a slog when Cardiff pulled one back. They had a side full of big lads who caused us problems with corsses and set plays. James Collins bundled home after a scramble to give them hope. I thought I saw a handball, but I'll reserve judgement until I see a replay. The llast 25 minutes were basically all Cardiff. Friedel made some good saves, but still they came at us. McAnuff had plenty in his locker, and Neill looked second rate all night against him. Friedel also wasn't completely confident with crosses, and twice he parried into dangerous situations. Cardiff had a shout for a penalty which seemed rightly denied by the ref. The double substitution stemmed the flow somewhat. The ineffective Tugay and a tiring Gally were replaced by Reidy and Nissa. Nissa moved to centreback, Mokoena into the centre of midfield, Reid out to the right, Emerton across to the left, MGP up front, Friedel to left back and John Curtis to sweeper, in one of the most confusing tactical switches ever. This added a bit more steel, but Cardiff were still guilty of missing some guilt-edged chances. If the game had gone to extra time I don't think Blackburn could feel harshly done to. As it was, the result has moved us into the next round of the FA Cup and into a mouthwatering tie against Colchester. Neil Danns awaits us.
  18. I wonder what Al has to say about the noble Ferguson now.
  19. Getting worried now. I don't see why the club should be held to ransom with Ferguson who must be very proud of captaining a Premiership club. If we could get £7m for him then I'd take it and use it to finance Savage and a Barry replacement. However, talks of him returning for £5m seem, to quote Brum, 'derisory'.
  20. Myself and cn174 are planning to go for the month. Not specifically to watch England though, just for the experience.
