  1. Nice 1 mate you've got it spot on. Ive heard a few people say that bazza is quite stupid and this brings it home imo. Having played for the club for 18 months, been a footballer/fan for about 20 yrs and also still having been at the club for a few days after the draw was made (im sure he would have caught the enthusiam for it) for him to STILL not know that Burnley Blackburn is the big derby in Lancashire is pathetic. Bolton game might be a cup final for them, but if we lose we will forget about it in a week or 2. We lose to the dingles and we will hear about it for yrs!! Wake up bazza and get yourself to the turf on sunday and witness a derby which is actually being played for a decent prize, rather than the scottish league cup or whatever. The draw was made on transfer deadline day. The same day he moved. In fact, I don't think he was ever in the country during the day.
  2. I can honestly say I've identified more with Savage in 5 games than our inspirational classy ex-captain. A step in the right direction I think.
  3. It makes me sick to my stomach. I predict that GAV will make a late comeback and reduce the deficit in votes but end up just short.
  4. Going on the train is ridiculous - complete waste of time. a ) There are only two trains you can get from Blackburn - 1035 or 1235 (unless you're a complete twot and fancy the 0835). b ) Because of that Lancs police have the easiest task - meet those two trains at Burnley, block the station exits, and you'll all get walked straight to the ground. c ) Even if ( b ) doesn't happen - which it will - if you get the early train you'll be in Burnley an hour before the pubs open. If you get the later one you'll miss the game unless you head straight for Turf Moor. d ) Those little trains are sh!te. They hold about 100 people. The bigger trains (that go to Burnley Manchester Rd) are replaced by buses on Sunday. So there's every chance that too many people will turn up for the 1235, it'll be full, you won't get to Burnley at all. And you could have been ferried to the turnstiles for free, on an executive coach from Ewood. Oh well, enjoy the game. You're missing the point here, Tris. He'll be mad-fer-it, ###### up and ready for some dingle-squashing. Football is so much better when you're drunk and obnoxious.
  5. I'm amazed at all the criticism. People were defending him when he was in the team and then he got injured. Has he got worse at football invisibly whilst he was on the treatment table? Don't get me wrong, he can leave for all I care, and he's probably on too much money when you consider he's (rightfully) fifth-choice, but was it really that long ago that so many people were saying "new Colin Hendry"?
  6. I don't think anybody thinks that he isn't trying in training. If you're replying to my point then I wasn't talking about his effort, I was talking about his performances.
  7. Matt would be starting games if he looked like he still had it in training. I'd really like to see him have the rest of the season to prove himself. Everybody deserves a run of starts and it's only really Matt who hasn't had them. I'm certain he isn't the player he was before and letting him go at the end of the season would probably be the best move for all concerned, but lets see him have a string of games at the end of his Rovers career when he's given us so many happy memories. Who knows what could come of it.
  8. If Rovers have to pay to get the away allocation then isn't it important that away fans buy tickets for that allocation?
  9. It's almost as though Blackburn are becoming the new Leicester. Scrappy players who can fight and battle and are capable of scraping up a few points where perhaps they shouldn't get them. They had a few decent ball players in the same way that we have one or two talented ones who find it hard to shine in such a situation. Scotty is right in that it doesn't matter at all what people think of us. This isn't a popularity contest - it's Premiership football. However, look where Leicester are now. Relegated and mid-table in the Championship with no immediate return immanent. Scrapping will only work for so long. We need to inject real genuine quality in the summer.
  10. I just had to respond because my selection was disrespected... As I understand it, we are voting for the "greatest", rather than the "best", which is quite a difference. If we were voting for the "best", then we would all be voting purely on statistical evidence. However, since we are voting for the "greatest" team ever, we are all going to have differing opinions on who was "greater", since we have different interpretations of what the "greatest" is. I don't think Bellamy was being disrespectful just looking for reasons. The number of Jansen votes stands out like a sore thumb. We all agree he's a v good player and also that he has an excellent relationship with the fans (which is just as important when picking this team) it just seems that saying he is the 2nd greatest striker we've had is a bit of a stretch no matter how you define "greatest" I agree he could have been but for many reasons he hasn't fulfilled it. If we were picking the 'Greatest' team from the last 10 years (as some people on here seem to be) then I would agree, but not the greatest of all time. I voted Garner but I can see excellent reasons for voting Briggs, Southworth even Sutton or Speedie. Again, not being disrespectful just saying that it's not obvious why you would vote Jansen so please give us your case. Yeah, it wasn't intended as a dig or anything so I hope you didn't take it personally You're quite right about differing interpretations and this is what has made the poll so very interesting and worthwhile. My interpretation of Matt Jansen is that he was a quality player and a fan favourite who was a bright spark in a poor division one team that eventually went on to become a good Premier League team again. In my opinion that doesn't equate to the sheer number of goals Southworth scored in the shirt. In your opinion it does. That's the beauty of the whole thing. Whilst being a young fan myself, it does seem to stick out to me that I've seen a good number of players who have been there or thereabouts in the voting, and that doesn't have to be neccessaily so for a club with such a great past as ourselves.
  11. I bet you, that they won't price them that low. You have the cheek to compare loyalty, someone who threatens to chuck his ST because the team got relegated isn't worth any preferential treatment from the club. Having a season ticket IS NOT a pre-requisite for attending a football match. Plenty of people who come to watch Rovers don't have season tickets. Not renewing my season ticket doesn't mean that I won't be going to games. It will probably mean I will be able to save some money. I didn't have a season ticket before Ewood was rebuilt because you didn't need one. I DID keep my season ticket last time we got relegated. You're quite right, no loyalty deserves...............no loyalty. Just a suggestion - try to think before posting. I don't get this. Why haven't you been to two away matches this season? If you have then you had two days to get tickets. If you haven't then what's the problem? If it was so easy for these modern fans with "new money" to get to Bolton and Citeh then surely you could too?
  12. Bloody hell Abbey - hook, line and sinker. If people didn't rise to the bait he'd go away. Gotta give these people the lack of attention they deserve
  13. Absolutely agree with this. In many ways Rovers were in a no-win situation with these tickets. For all their fair policy, there will always be long-term fans who haven't been to many games this season for one reason or another. However, they've put up a reward for those who have travelled this season and watched some pretty dismal matches. A little harsh on those who can't afford to travel or have kids etc? Probably, but there really is no other way.
  14. I cannot believe the votes for Jansen. Essential in the promotion season - Yes. A skillful player on his day - Yes. Someone who appreciates the fans and always claps the Blackburn End - Yes. But the second best striker to ever lace up his boots in Rovers colours? Surely not.
  15. I've gone for Southworth, although I don't think he'll end up winning. I can see it being Garner, but there've been some fantastic testimonies so it could perhaps be a close-run thing, possibly with Briggs.
  16. According to Mark Hughes, he did refuse to play the last cup game. I was talking about Savage
  17. I don't like the idea of MGP up front. Terry will bully him without a problem. However it does free up a place on the wing for a more solid defensive player. Our flanks will need to be very disciplined when it comes to tracking Robben and Duff.
  18. He didn't refuse to play. He was dropped. By all accounts he played quite well in the reserve game he played during the saga. 80 yard runs to tackle back etc.
  19. No, the entertainment comes from witnessing a mix of passion and flowing football. Both sides displayed that. Yes, it was in a petulant way, but that was far more entertaing than two sides going through the motions and looking like the only thing they care about is the size of the paycheck.
  20. That was an advert for the Premier League. The fact that the result wasn't going to affect the championship meant that both team approached the game in an open way and the football reflected that.
  21. I've applied for my Mastercard today, so should be able to apply in three weeks time when it comes through. Question for those "in the know": How rigorous are the checks that your identity matches the name on the tickets? Was planning t try and get to more than 7 matches, so were were considering ordering tickets in two sets of names. It says on the site that checks will be made at random and you need proper documentation. I'd like to avoid buying tickets, going, and getting refused entry to the ground. Is it an idle threat? What would you reccomend?
  22. I think we have enough quality here not to get relegated anyway. Throwing money at the problem was not the answer in 1999. If anything, it was proof that panic-buying and overpaying just doesn't cut it in the short term or long term. I also think streakyb has been quite unfairly criticised here. Firstly, just because he (and most others) say that Ferguson hasn't been a revelation doesn't mean he's provoking oyu into an unneccessary arguement. And secondly, just because Al is a well-respected long-term member of the board who has contributed well shouldn't put him on "higher ground" with moderators.
  23. Season ticket holders who have been to all three cup games? Been away so I've had 24 hours thinking about this and no news from anywhere. Seems to me it should go like this: 1. ST holders who went to Cardiff 2. Away ST holders 3. Non ST holders who went to Cardiff/regular away travellers That takes up about 1200? 4. ST holders with Bournemouth, Cardiif replay and Colchester (that's us in ) 5. ST Holders 2 out 3 above 6. ST holders 1 out of 3 above 7. ST holders 8. Open sale Given the very poor attendances at the three home cup games those who did turn up should get first shout in relation to the games attended. I can't make up my mind about those who've been travelling away in the league all season - do they qualify for cup competitions? I seem to recall Tris saying the Watford-Liverpool game stubs for Liverpool fans included a game two years ago at Ewood in the Coca Cola. I think that's more than fair. The few people who actually made the effort for the less glamorous cup matches should be rewarded with priority when a match the others deem acceptable for attending comes around.
  24. Working under the assumption that we wouldn't be able to sneak a sly medical in for somebody without anybody finding out, this is basically it. Disappointing
