Why are people jibing at people who rate some players and not others? Highlighting Pickering and A.Wharton, I rate Wharton massively and don't rate Pickering at all, is that allowed? Strange stuff after an enjoyable game and result.

"And for those of you who give player X a hard time"...give it a rest.

It’s perfectly allowed for you to state your opinion, just as it is for me to tell you’re wrong about Pickering.

I find it odd they are inviting fans views on safe standing when they've made it perfectly clear they won't be incurring what they see as unnecessary additional expense in installing such a thing.

A bit like when they recently invited fans to offer their views on kits for the next couple of years I wonder how much of this is actually going anywhere and how much is just them wanting to appear to be taking fans' views on board.

The club aren't asking for fans' views. It was fans who raised this with the club and who wrote the questionnaire. It was actually Mike Graham who wrote the it, which was amended both by other fans and by the club, who made a couple of very sensible amendments. They put it out because it's easier for them to get to more fans quickly than it is for us.

Financing is clearly going to be an issue but I was surprised by how positively the club have engaged with us - they had given it quite a bit of thought and had suggestions for us as to practical areas when we met. Safe standing seats don't cost a fortune, around £80 a seat and right now we are looking at a relatively small number being converted.

I can't be absolutely sure about future kits but I am reasonably confident that you will see where the fan input went when they are introduced.

I have to say (as I have before), I really don't see the appeal of standing at matches.

I'm not old enough to remember it, with seating being all that I've known - as well as having young kids with me / to keep safe.
But I just don't get it.

There are lots of people who don't want to stand at games and a lot who do. Surely it makes sense to set up an area where those that do can stand and those that want to sit are much less likely to have people standing around them.

  4. I thought yesterday's display was primarily an excellent defensive performance. Stoke had the vast majority of the ball and managed one shot on target, none at all after about 7 minutes. There is a fair bit of competition but I made Tronstad our best player, as he probably has been for a few weeks now.

It seemed to me that when Scott went off we more or less played 3 at the back with both Travis and Britain operating a bit further forward than a traditional back would play. When under pressure (plenty of the time) both were back with Moran making that back 6.

Neil was thoroughly out thought yesterday. Right from the first minute when Stoke set up to attack what he expected would be us playing out from the back and Wahlstedt kicked it long past half the Stoke team from which Szmodics should probably have scored. Neil said after the game that he knew we were weak on scoring from corners - obviously he expected us to play it short. Instead we put in straight on to Scott's head, who Stoke had conveniently left unmarked.  He also said that the South Korean lad had a great game so he didn't want to bring Vidigal on - I thought Travis had him in his pocket all afternoon.

Let’s see at the end of the season, I think you sell more if you offer incentives. You also increase the number of casual buyers and on the fencers. The more Rovers shirts on kids the better. A kid kit costs best part of £100 quid, kid gets a choice of that or say the new FIFA, a lot choose fifa and we have less rovers shirts on kids.

There are differing pricing strategies of course but I just think they’ve missed a trick of directing loads of traffic and business to the site today who might make secondary purchases that they wouldn’t normally make. Whereas I bet there will be plenty like me who looked on and thought what a joke and bought nowt.

Obviously you will sell some more if you discount. That’s a logical marketing move if you can ring your supplier up on Monday and re-stock but Rovers can’t do that.

They have what they have and they want it to last so that someone coming into the shop after Christmas still has some choice. That went horribly wrong last season and they upped the order by 20% this season. Sales are ahead of last year and the third kit is pretty much sold out already.

It is almost impossible to get sales just right so the last stock is sold on the last day of the season and it’s doubtful that will be achieved this time. But making some big discounts at this time of year when sales are going well just doesn’t make sense.

The Black Friday Rovers Roulette is pathetic, I imagine many rovers fans like me looked this morning to check for discounts on kit and training kit as other clubs have done. I should have known better.

Missed a massive opportunity to swell the coffers there IMO. A single junior shirt with printing costs the same as I paid yesterday for a full Celtic kit with league badges, printing and postage. Our commercial operation is so out of step with the rest of the sector and it’s much to our detriment

Why would any commercial organisation discount stock which it is pretty confident it can sell at full price? Kits have been selling well this season.

They'll be moved anyway as we didn't do it properly, it's just basically white bin bags over the seats!

Agree that hopefully they'll put them back properly centralised - if anyone can be arsed!

They won't be moved. If they make the sign central a number of the letters would coincide with the stairs and it will look worse than it is.

Doubtless, given the weekend it is, both teams will be wearing black armbands throughout the game, anyway; but, surely it must be possible for the announcer to use some form of words before the Last Post referring to us having "lost one of our own." without seeming disrespectful to the soldiers whom we'll be commemorating?

There won't be anything around the remembrance events. I think things will probably coalesce around a minute's applause on the 74th minute.

  9. I first met Birdy properly on the infamous trip to Pune some 10 years or so ago. I had gone as a Fans Forum member but he turned up with a few mates who had flown out there themselves.

He has also been on the Forum for a number of years subsequently and I regularly saw him at away games as well. As others have said he could be a bit awkward but his heart was very much in the right place, usually covered in a Rovers red rose.

Given his history and the award he got for his efforts the club would I think be amenable to some form of action to remember him on Friday night, subject of course to the approval of his wife Annette, who of course was always at his side at games.

Interesting tweet from a Norwich fan after yesterday's game

This is the full LinkedIn post that GB made as above: -

An enjoyable trip back to Norwich City yesterday, mainly due to Blackburn Rovers' performance and result. Just as great was to see the legacy that we worked so hard to build between 2012 and 2017 continue to bear fruit. A magnificent Championship debut from Jaden Warner (2002) who has had to be patient to earn his opportunity. Another player to graduate from the London recruitment programme that was the hard work of many including Jay Marshall, Ryan Gordon
and Ross Embleton. From one age group Norwich City have seen first team appearances from Jon Rowe, Tony Springett, Abu Kamara, Tyrese Omotoye and now Jaden Warner. From the same group Saxon Earley continues to thrive at Plymouth Argyle
and Nelson Khumbeni at Bolton Wanderers. On Wednesday night, under less favourable circumstances, it was also good to see Alex Matos continue to develop at Chelsea after his summer transfer from Norwich. Further afield, but also in the same age group, Kristian Hlynsson is
now a first team regular for Ajax. When we also add Max Aarons, Jamal Lewis, Ben Godfrey, Carlton Morris, Harry Toffolo, Jacob Murphy, Josh Murphy, Adam Idah and Todd Cantwell into list you realise how privileged we were to be working at Norwich City in such a special era.
