  1. Betfair movements Hoddle 14-1 from 20-1 Reid backed into 32-1 Jewell drifted to 21-1 Hughes and Strachan still favourites
  2. The best indication of who will come is on Betfair. That is the 1st place you will see action. Souness' price fell all weekend. Hughes is currently 6-1 with Strachan 7-1. No betting on Shearer or Dalglish Newell 7-1, Houllier 12-1 and Jewell 16-1
  3. Had a nice wager on Strachan at 7-1 11/2 Hughes 6/1 Paul Jewell, Gerard Houllier 7/1 Strachan 9/1 Mike Newell 12/1 Kenny Dalglish, David O'Leary, Dean Saunders, Alan Shearer 14/1 George Graham, David Moyes, Tony Parkes 20/1 Glenn Hoddle, Terry Venables 25/1 Bryan Robson, Sir Clive Woodward 33/1 Colin Hendry, Sir Bobby Robson 40/1 Sam Allardyce.
  4. Wales boss Mark Hughes has been installed as 11/2 favourite by Hills to become the next permanent manager of Blackburn Rovers. The postion became vacant on Monday after Graeme Souness revealed that he was leaving Ewood Park to take over at Newcastle. Wigan boss Paul Jewell and former Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier are 6/1 joint second favourites ahead of 7/1 Gordon Strachan and 9/1 Mike Newell, the former Rovers striker now in charge at Luton Town. Hills also offer: 12/1 Kenny Dalglish, David O'Leary, Dean Saunders and Alan Shearer; 14/1 George Graham, David Moyes, Tony Parkes; 20/1 Glenn Hoddle, Terry Venables; 25/1 Bryan Robson, Sir Clive Woodward 33/1 Colin Hendry, Sir Bobby Robson; 40/1 Sam Allardyce. "We were far from surprised to see Souness leave Blackburn for Newcastle after seeing a flurry of bets for him on Monday morning which slashed his odds to 4/7 favourite, but it looks unlikely that the current managerial merry-go-round has slowed down just yet," said Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe. I've heard Dalglish is coming
  5. Just had it confrimed by a mate who works at the Telegraph, he's gone.
  6. Souness for some obvious reason is currently 4-6 to be appointed Newcastle manager on Betfair and the odds are crashing every minute.
  7. Somewhat worryingly, on betfair Souness has been backed down from 80-1 to 10-1 in the last few hours to get the Newcastle job. Venables has drifted to 2-1 with Bruce 3-1 and O'Leary on 5-1.
  8. And SSN has reported that his move has fallen through due to differences over his contract offer.
  9. Jim Just had a wager on Betfair on the back of that. Got 14-1 on Betfair. If youre right, I'll send you a signed piccy of Souey in the post.
  10. 23:38 pm Shearer signs for Blackburn after not being offered manager's job ! Would be nice wouldn't it ?
  11. Well that's me wound up ! In what will hopefully be a repeat of last years sing-song and a complete reversal of the on-field durge, United travel to Blackburn to take on the local club-footed aces. Ooh, I'm reet full of early season optimism.... tripe anyone? From UnitedWeStand
  12. Pete Kay's would be funnier, let's get HIM in. Only read this thread to see exactly HOW dumb and ignorant some people are. ( and that's not aimed at you Alan75) Quite staggering really, Tim Sherwood once said fans don't know anything about football. I'm beginning to think he had a point.
  13. Utter @#/?! If the manager's doing a bad job then he'll be sacked. Whether the board does it off their own will or wait until the crowd makes his job untenable remains to be seen but I suspect we won't have too long to wait. Is it really ? You think the crowd will be calling for his head shortly do you ? I wish you were my bookmaker.
  14. Jan No amount of whinging and whining on this messageboard will get Souness sacked. He was appointed from Jack's deathbed, has turned the club around, recreated us as a Premiership club, writing off debts in the process. He was gathered a very talented squad, of which virtually every player is his choice and will manage Blackburn for as long as he wants. It's certainly not I that needs to get over myself.
  15. Oh to be back in the Nationwide League, swimming along nicely in 15th with a squad full of no-hopers ! Why did that pillock Souness have to come along, get us back in the Premiership, clear the overdraft and win a trophy !?? We'd be better off without him ! Is Howard Kendall still available ? Jim Smith ?
  16. What a load of rubbish. Yes they had a 17 year old lad on but the other players that came in are ace. Judge Rovers AFTER the Newcastle game and not before. What crap do you spout ? Cygan and Pennant are ace !!!?? A good team would have give them a game. It was below par, simple as that.
  17. Talk about defeatist ! That was a shocking result against a very under strength Arsenal. We should be able to at least compete against a side with Reyes Viera Llungberg and Campbell missing and with Pennant Cygan and a 17 yr old kid (as good as he maybe) in the side. Another below par performance.
  18. "Some of our older listeners may remember, cheating moany old Alan Shearer once played for Blackburn Rangers back in the old days, as did that gay one, oh, what was his name, Graeme Le Saux. Le Saux, and Alan or Big Al as he is known, actually won a Premiership medal with the Rovers, which meant that those skanky buggers from Manchester ended the season potless again. Which, however annoying it is seeing a team buy their way to the title, was nice to see, especially as Andy Cole missing a last minute sitter at West Ham cost them the title. Happy Days. Scott Biao and Richie Cunningham etc." (From the site) I suppose Henry, Pires etc came on frees did they ? Every club 'buy's the title, but only we get labelled with it !
  19. In my opinion Souness is an excellent manager and has made more good signings than bad. However, I don't know if the pressures of last season have had some sort of lasting effect on his outlook but I'm not likeing his selection/tactics policy this season, not one bit. This policy of hoping to be level at half time and then giving it a go in the second half is frankly ridiculous. He even mentioned this was his plan for the WBA at home game. Souness obviously realises he is making mistakes, making two substitutions at half time is an act of desperation. We've done it twice out of two games. Why can't we start Matteo in the position he was signed - centre half - and play Emerton Thompson DePedro or whoever on the wings ? This club has only been successful when we have played 4-4-2. Even George Graham was bemoaning the lack of width when he saw the team sheet on saturday. This mentality of not losing, keeping it tight, avoiding relegation etc etc has to stop before it's too late. Souness has put a bloody good squad together compared to what we had when he first came, now it's time for them to express themselves and stop worrying about bloody defeat.
  20. Cocker I take it you never saw John Butcher then ? The joke about dracula and crosses was written for him !
  21. I reckon I've worked out Souness' tactics and plans for this season, at least for the short term. He wants to play 4-3-1-2 for the 1st half, with the flexibility to cange to 3-4-1-2 should we need to. He will start saturday with the following team ; Friedel Emerton/Neill Short Amoruso Gray Tugay Ferguson Matteo Yorke/DePedro Yorke/Dickov Stead. Should we need to change things he can remove drop Matteo into the back 3 and push the full backs up as wingers. With this formation he has DePedro,Thompson and Yorke who can all play behind the front two and is possibly why he was so adamant that he wasn't interested in selling Yorke. This formation obviously relies a lot on the 'man in the hole' having a good game which was obviously it's downfall on saturday. I don't actually think it's that bad a formation and is one that can adapt to any situation.
  22. When have Rovers ever had a keeper in the PFA Team of the Year ? Has to be Friedel, as good as the likes of Gennoe,Arnold,Jones,Flowers and Bradshaw were. No John Butcher !? ( Shurely some mistake Ed ?)
  23. Not a chance! Daylight robbery that place. I sometimes go down if we arent playing and im bored but its a nightmare. Went to their friendly against wigan last sunday and it was like watching a pub team. £12 to get in!!! And Blackpool lost 5-0! I was gutted when hendry took that job, its a poisoned chalice! My nephew plays for them, well the reserves, can you believe that Hendry sarted a brand new season with Simon Grayson in the centre of midfield ?! He is also, quite interestingly for those who wanted him at Rovers, encouraging long ball football from the first team right through to the youth team. My nephew is a centre half and he has been told to hit the front man as early as possible.
  24. I'm sure it was BR, only pulling yer leg. Going to watch the Tangerines on Tuesday ? I think I am.
