  1. It's why Luton got promoted - they went completely against the new norm of playing out from the back and played two big #9s. a) it eliminates those suicidal goals you concede asking your GK to be a playmaker and b) modern CBs simply aren't used to playing against crossed balls into the box.
  2. Travis is an 8 - he's a box-to-box CM, but yes in the 4-2-3-1 formation you usually play with two 6s.
  3. Now Dembele is off the table are there any other wingers we've been interested in? I'd still love Poku.
  4. £1.4m for Dembele the Oxford fans reckon.
  5. Bet we're picking up ALL of his wages and there's a loan fee involved. Won't be a cheap deal.
  6. Is he likely to start? What's their LB situation like?
  7. What games are you watching? He also stands 15 yards off and lets them cross it at times because he knows if he goes and engages them they'd dance past him. As I've repeatedly said, he's a very good footballer, but he's a shocking athlete - he runs like he's carrying a piano on his back. He's done very well to hold down a Championship starting job.
  8. Fucking hell, Batth is injured already? He's only played about 60 minutes.
  9. He's good going forward (2 assists already this year) but not quite as good defensively as you'd like your FB to be. That seems to be the modern game though.
  10. Wahlstedt wasn't worse than Pears (nobody is paying £1m for Calamity), but that shouldn't be our bar. We need a Championship quality GK. We currently have a non-league GK and several senior GKs who probably shouldn't even be professionals on our books.
  11. Fuck that - if he's a League quality GK he should be straight into the team. If he can't handle a derby then we've signed another wall flower.
  12. I'd love another CF, but I think we can make do with what we've got - we need pace and width more than anything (assuming this GK is much cop).
  13. Like Cannon I think there's a long queue for Stansfield and the bidding starts at £5m+.
  14. They gambled and failed - this is the fallout.
  15. They only signed him this year, so that seems unlikely. He was on loan from Puskas and Fehervar liked him so much they made the deal a permanent one.
  16. I think they're both risky / obscure signings. I'd have gone all out for Rushworth personally.
  17. Just pitch to him that he could live in a flat wasteland or the Ribble Valley for the next 10 months. We'll both finish midtable somewhere.
  18. Nah, bunch of soft lads in that changing room. They won't do anything.
  19. In front of a crowd that will tut rather than threaten bodily harm if you miscontrol a ball.
  20. Hence the 'too'. Cantwell, Toth, Poku and Hall. If they want to loan play the PL2 Tombola after that, they can knock themselves out.
