3-3, deflected in just like PSV's second.
-
Think our best players so far have been Edmondson, Tyjon and Bloxham. Bloxham has tidy feet, although he is sometimes a little over keen to show them off. Commentator just said again that Tyjon is 15, everything online seems to say 16 back in June though. Either way, at that age he could be one to watch, but especially if he's only 15.
-
Batty makes it 3-2. PSV have been the better side this half.
-
2-1 up. Edmondson scores a penalty won by Tyjon.
-
Back level. Tyjon, the lad who came on for Wood. Nicely taken really, left everyone for dead taking it on the turn at halfway, didn't score first time but notched the rebound. We signed him from Rochdale in the summer, Newcastle and Brighton had been sniffing. The commentator just said he's 15 I think, but the articles I find from the summer say he was 16 then.
-
Didn't take long to be 1 down. I switched on at 10 mins to find that was the score. Wood has been subbed off already, I assume an injury.

The U21 Premier League International Cup game against Jong PSV is free to watch on YouTube: Kick off is at 7pm

Another late home defeat for the U21s, this time in the PL Cup. Must have felt inspired by the first team's late home loss... Leonard and Batty scored in a 3-2 defeat to Sheff U. Batty sent off in the 96th minute (two minutes after Sheff U's winner).

Looking at the last times we dropped points against them... Today obviously April 2023, Dom Hyam OG in 94th minute, draw. December 22, lost 4-1, all goals earlier than 66th minute. Feb 21 lost 2-1, all goals first half. Jan 20 drew 1-1 all goals first 20 mins. Oct 19 lost 3-2, winner was in 82nd minute. March 19 lost 1-0, 8th minute. Nov 18 conceded 85th minute, but were already 3-1 down at 74th. March 17 drew 2-2, conceded 93rd minute. December 2016 lost 3-2 in the 80th minute. April 16 lost 2-1, last goal 43rd minute. After that you have to go back to 1997 and a League Cup defeat (early goal). So late (80th minute onwards) goals have cost us a result in 5 out of 11 games where we didn't win, and been conceded in one more where it made no difference. Certainly an element of truth to what you say. That's got to be above the average for goals conceded after 80 minutes. Incidentally, in the Venkys era we've won 4, drawn 3 and lost 8 of our games against them. None of our wins involved late winners, or indeed any goals after 74 minutes (for any side). I don't think we scored later than the 80th minute (April 2023) in any of these games actually, but I can't be arsed to go back through and check. If we'd held our own after 80 minutes in the games we dropped points, we'd have won another 7 points over the years, which I guess isn't that massive over a 7.5 year span, although just the one back in April was enough to cost us the playoffs. -

And play who instead? John Buckley, who is struggling to break into a terrible Sheff W side? -

Oh look, an actual corner and it results in a goal. -

Don't think I'd have brought Dolan off yet, think he's looked lively. Ennis would have been the one I brought on, for Siggy. -

It's all well and good until somebody fails to spot the danger. Which always happens at some point. You can usually sense when it's about to, which makes you wonder why the player being too calm can't. Sometimes you just have to put your foot through it. -

We've had enough chances to win two games now. Need to score while this pressure is on or we know what happens. -

https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/23914688.blackburn-rovers-owners-permitted-release-11m-funding/ A positive outcome, although I can't imagine it means a budget boost, probably just means we're not going to be in dire straits in January. I'm not clear from the article which High Court this refers to, Indian or UK. -

https://www.google.com/amp/s/metro.co.uk/2023/11/09/david-rayas-agent-reveals-issues-with-permanent-arsenal-transfer-19800593/amp/ This isn't encouraging. His agent describes the deal as 'an option to buy in the summer'. I'd been given the impression it was a mandatory purchase as soon as a small number of appearances were made, so I was hoping we might see some money in January. If the loan fee of 3 mill is considered separate to the transfer fee (perhaps more likely if the buy is only an option, dunno), I suspect we also won't see any of that when we get our slice, and it will be a percent of the profit on the 3 mill or so Brentford paid, but taken only from the 27 million rather than the full 30. I also wonder whether the add ons Brentford paid for promotion etc will be added to the threshold of when we start getting our chunk. I think the percent is 15? Assuming that, all of this could be the difference between getting about 4 million in January, or about 3.3 million in the summer, or even nothing at all. 700k is an entire player for us. Not getting anything at all compared to 4 or 3.3 mill is like if we'd had to get freebies instead of Szmodics and Hyam, maybe Brittain too. (Yes I know, it can always get sucked up in the black hole too, but the bigger that black hole is, the more desperate our dealings get and the more pressure we're under to sell players at cut prices). I really hope the Prem clubs haven't conspired to fuck us on this. -

Same. If the others weren't bitterly jealous of our past successes and had no issue with us, I'd have none with them, and in fact I'd wish them all well, just not better than us due to catchment needs for our support. I do strongly dislike Bolton, but that's also from their fans acting like bellends with us (and Big Sam, but then he managed us for a while so I had to get over that). Truth be told, I only hate Burnley because tradition obliges and cos their fans are largely pricks to us. -

Armed with a ten quid transfer budget, I imagine most people would. -

Is he? Fuck that then, his record isn't outstanding in League Two. Not even in the top 25 scorers this season. Not even Wimbledon's top scorer this season, by some way. Young, but we're in no position to spend millions on anyone who isn't the finished article. -

Hardly prolific. His 4 goals this season don't even put him on the BBC's top scorers list for League Two, which has 25 players. Hard to imagine us or Leeds are in for him. Only 21 though, so maybe they see potential. We don't need another potential striker. -

Sammie scored on his debut, but it did take a while to establish himself as a goalscorer and fan favourite, probably some 6 or 7 months. I have a feeling based only on what we've seen so far that Siggy might turn into a bit of a Championship level Antonsson for us. An appreciable goal return from wide (maybe a bit better than Antonsson's) but not much else. Course, it's still early for him and he could easily turn out to be better or worse (I'd be surprised if it's the latter though, since he already has 4 in all comps where Antonsson got 8). -

Saw the term used in the LT article about it. Of course, it would be no surprise if they got their facts wrong. -

That's the thing, if the ref has an unhelpful view, does it count as an obvious mistake by him? I thought the interpretation of the laws would deem it wasn't. Happy days though, would have been a big problem to go into the PNE game with one centre half (especially with JRC probably unavailable). The international break will be very welcome for a change. -

Interesting, I was pessimistic because of the law about appeals having to show the ref made an 'obvious mistake'. Whilst it's obvious after you see the right replay, I wouldn't say it was obvious in the moment. You might have the right angle, you might not. I watched extended highlights today and the commentator was saying Wharton couldn't have any complaints there, until he saw the second replay I believe it was. For that reason, and the league generally sticking by their refs, I expected the appeal to be denied. Certainly the right decision has been reached though, for a change. Thankfully it didn't cost us any points.
