  1. I say this every time, yet someone always feels the need to object to links being in here too. Even though links will obviously spur discussion.
  2. So, why can't we use our wits, knowhow and resources now, with more money, to get a better player than we will end up with for almost no money next year? It's weird when people act like anyone here thinks it's our own money. Obviously we don't. The club's money affects the level of player we can buy, which affects our success and enjoyment as fans. I'm quite coherently making the argument we would be better off getting the money to spend on a replacement now rather than kicking the can down the road a year to when we won't get money for a replacement. At no point did I say I can't wait to buy myself a mansion with the 15 million, so don't straw-man me please.
  3. And what would happen next season when we have no BBD and no money to replace him?
  4. Most clubs in this league have higher turnover than us and whilst we could grow it a bit, it won't be by orders of magnitude. And that's if we had a competent CEO at the helm, we certainly don't. Our wages are probably one of the highest to turnover ratios in the league, although that may have been addressed a little this summer, depending who we still bring in and what we pay them. The existing rules are also in essence guided by turnover, as our losses are to a large extent dictated by our turnover. The advantage for us under these supposed new proposals is the owners being able to inject more. If they do indeed wish to.
  5. And all the figures reported in the press. Beats no source at all. It might not all be 100% on the mark for the exact figure, but turning 3.5 million into 1 million is clearly miles off base.
  6. Nah nah, JH has decided that's wrong because it goes against the arguments he's been making. It's only around a million. Source: Trust Me, Dude.
  7. Fair enough, we mean it in different senses then, you mean actual qualifications. Like Shania Twain though, that don't impress me much. Coaching isn't even part of the job description so far as I'm aware. I want a proven record when I go in for surgery, not someone who just has the qualifications.
  8. To clarify, Broughton is not highly qualified as a DoF at all. It's his first time in the role.
  9. https://www.google.com/amp/s/footballleagueworld.co.uk/everton-reportedly-make-official-approach-for-blackburn-rovers-forward/amp/ If this is right, then Nixon's version of 'close' means 'about to make a bid'.
  10. I didn't realise we needed to eat new signings.
  11. Nice to hear! Of course, they're used to watching a right load of shit. They're currently in a league no Rovers fan in our entire history has ever seen us play in. Even the league above them is one we have only spent I think 3 or 4 seasons in ever. I'd be miffed if they weren't impressed.
  12. Less shocks in this round than last time so far. Fulham lost to Crawley, WBA to Derby (mild shock), Rotherham lost to Morecambe, Watford to MK Dons. That's it really (I'm not bothering to count League One sides knocked out by League Two, CBA to check who is in what league from those). Someone called Samuel Bastard or something put the Dingles through.
  13. What was Mowbray's record? Don't think there's too many more who are close to making their debuts as things look at the mo. Maybe Batty later in the season. Burns late in the season if he recovers in time but probably not. I suppose if the next round is 'easy' or the FA Cup draw is 'easy' we might see one or two more.
  14. So, successfully navigating two rounds of a cup...I'm pretty sure TM never did that once in all his time here, whilst JDT has done it first time of asking, with a weakened squad that could barely field a defence.
  15. I mean, it was a bit of a problem, I didn't get to listen to the commentary, but cheers.
  16. Good stuff, winning again with a weakened team may restore a bit of confidence. Now to do it in the league! (And to sign some defenders)
  17. Don't have DAB. Using an old style radio where I can't see the specific one I'm tuned to, the 102 to 108 range only gives me the Nobbers, or some fucker talking in Welsh.
  18. That's killed the 500-1 bet someone placed earlier then.
  19. Where? I can only find the Dingles and Nobbers games.
  20. I'd say that's only pretty certain if the formation involves a midfield 3.
  21. Apparently Dack has 5 goals and 6 assists in 5 appearances in this cup. Far too good for lower league sides. Especially considering most of those will have been under Mowbray where we routinely lost at the 1st or 2nd time of asking!
  22. Why is it always so obvious when it's going like this, that the opposition will score next? At least we are back in it now. Anyone know where this can be watched or listened to outside of Yorkshire?
