  1. Agree to a large extent, but the problem is if he doesn't do well enough or gets a serious injury he might never land life changing money again. I bet Spurs would think little of throwing a 10k p/w 4 yr deal at him. That's 2 million quid. Enough to set anyone up for life if they're sensible and smart with it. Also, Spurs can just send him on loan to the Championship, especially now he is showing he can compete in it.
  2. We don't want teams sitting deeper. We are better when they come at us.
  3. We would have had a 10 mill player in Nyambe if you just went off a run of his best 3 games. It's very, very early days. Seen plenty of players look shit hot early doors and fade away. Jay McEveley once looked like the next big thing. Time will tell. He's made a fine start.
  4. Think he knows more than us though. Tbh it has never looked, maybe Walton aside, like we were playing someone who wasn't worth their place, not for long.
  5. According to Sharpe, there were no such clauses for any of those, or anyone else we have loaned in recent years.
  6. Well done Lee. In your indignation about what we discuss here being too boring, you've started and partaken in a fascinating discussion about what we discuss. The irony appears to be lost on you though.
  7. Ben Brereton is our best player, not Bradley Dack.
  8. For a moment I thought that front three was the back three and I thought TM was posting here.
  9. Umm, we do have shirts that play on the 1875 and Arte et Labore themes.
  10. Yes, absolutely it is. It being an opinion doesn't remotely stop it being off.
  11. May increase the price a tribunal would set. And until he signs elsewhere, we will probably hold out hope he signs here. Playing him helps with that (unless it persuades big clubs to up their interest!)
  12. In other words, IRHJDTCWVDBRTVDHBIRTVDBCTCBBTVDHC. No idea why you felt the need to be so wordy.
  13. I thought I read he did it last night. I wasn't there either though and I could be misremembering what I read now I think on it. Perhaps moving Pickering to CB again made me think that, but that was to bring Wharton off. Having a look at Pickering as a CB still suggests to me he wants to go 3 at the back sometimes. I think it's an effective tool to have in our arsenal, we saw last season how difficult it can be to break down.
  14. JDT has switched us to 3 CBs a couple of times already. I think at the very least it is his 'plan B'.
  15. Burnley are indeed at their best bitter.
  16. See, 'sideways step' I don't take issue with. We are both midtable Championship sides in the NW with mild chances at playoff tilts. In that sense we are much of a muchness at present. But I'd love to know in what universe they think they're in a better position or a more attractive prospect. That really is delusion. Finished 5 places and 5 points above them last season. 100% start to this season.
  17. Until Phillips signs a new deal, we shouldn't give any thought to 'blocking his pathway'. Until he extends, if he does, he is no more than a one-year loan in practice. One that may even be recalled at any time for a small fee... Carter can't be considered an adequate replacement for Lenihan yet. Barnes is out for the season and a complete unknown quantity when he's back. We need a permanent CB to replace Lenihan and ideally a loanee to replace JPVH. One of the two should be able to play RB reasonably well. Sounds like the Liverpool lad plus one permanent would do the job.
  18. No, never. Will keep saying it every time he gets mentioned (which is every window).
  19. What a tool. On top of which, of course you can have it be 'all us' for 65 minutes and then it be all them. That's the vast majority of the game! The problem is you're supposed to make it count, and supposed to be able to defend.
  20. Just watched highlights and read comments...sounds like that's the best WBA have played in ages. Which either means they're finding themselves or it was a bit of an aberration.
  21. There are a few years after 2011 you might want to take out of that record. Essentially all hellfire and brimstone.
  22. I wasn't at the game, but sorry to hear it. I assume you've already asked the club to notify you if it gets or has been handed in?
  23. I watched a vid, some 5 minutes or so of Phillips. This description fits with the player that showed me. TBH I watched it and said 'We HAVE to get him to sign that deal, it would be a fucking travesty if we lost him for the rumoured 250k'.
