  1. Oh yeh one good result changes everything 🤫
  2. Which I don't think Diaz expected. Tbh I'm unable to decide whether that is what he was trying to do. A chip was an odd way to do it. If you're gonna do the lob, aim it at the goal.
  3. He would be, if he didn't have a horrendous injury record for a young player. I hope I'm wrong because he looked excellent when he came on today.
  4. Superb ball from Butterworth, should have been a goal.
  5. Well they're not going to aim there when a man is lying down covering most of that area. I think that's the idea, deterrent rather than blockage. Then they have to aim over the wall and the keeper has a better idea of where it's going. (I'm not agreeing with it btw)
  6. Butterworth had some turn of pace on him there. Shame he is made of glass.
  7. Even by his standards, yes. Gally off for Davenport, Buckley shoved up front when he looked knackered. A bit later gives up on that and takes Buckley off for Butterworth presumably so we can keep with the pressing game. Then swaps an attacker for a defender, presumably giving up on that so we can shore up and soak the pressure.
  8. As I read that, he gave away that stupid free kick...I blame you.
  9. Absolutely clueless. We still have some talented players but the manager really does everything he can to fuck it up.
  10. Well...you got half of what you asked for...
  11. Christ that's a poor crowd, especially for a season opener after a long break from being able to attend.
  12. Did you feel awkward when he just got subbed, hobbling off? 😉
  13. He was wrong, and he was right. By and large, players aren't just good or bad. They do things well, and they make mistakes. Buckley has been prominent on both counts now today. Need to start getting more consistency from him soon.
  14. Kaminski, but also Buckley. Suicide pass. Shame as he has been playing very well.
  15. Horror pass from Buckley that gave Swansea the ball for that move wasn't it? Kaminski actually moved away from that. I can see why as the way the player set his body he was clearly aiming top corner, but if he had stayed where he was it was routine.
  16. Like I said, Dolan causes problems even if he isn't notching...
  17. Dolan in the centre of the front three is a funny one. He does cause all kinds of disruption up there and adds an element of unpredictability. Works his ass off and harries. But he hasn't developed that clinical finishing knack yet (in fairness he didn't have all that many clear chances last season and still scored 3, so today might not be wholly representative and Arma has had the odd day like this too at 5 years his senior, but yeh he has been fluffing them today). He isn't big and strong either, although neither was Arma. It's not where I see Dolan's future at all unless he becomes a clinical finisher and/or learns to read the game better but I think playing him there might have occasional utility until we get someone else, especially in a stretched squad. Rather see Gallagher put there though and Dolan wide. Someone mentioned McBride but I think if we swap Dolan for him we lose that mobility that is unsettling Swansea.
  18. As the data has consistently shown. Here we are winning with far less possession again. I wonder if there's a point at which the penny will drop for the manager.
  19. Our pressing game looking just as effective as it did at the start of last season. Credit where it's due, we have been excellent for the most part this half and should have at least two. Much like last season though, that pressing game is hard to sustain for a full campaign. Without reinforcements it can't be sustained. The only players in the front 3 we have who we know can do it effectively are the 3 we have out (since Armstrong looks to be off). There's no way the same 3 can do that all season, and if Brereton got injured again like last season, then what? It's not the only area we are thin in squad depth to be maintaining that intensity either. I don't think 5 loans are going to cut it, we simply have to be able to reinvest some of that Arma money, even if most of it gets swallowed by debt and contract renewals.
  20. Bloody hell how did that not go in
  21. The other one is a bit misshapen. (Almost went with, the other is at the Albert Hall but didn't think an implied Hitler comparison was fair)
  22. We look hungry today and Swansea look leggy. I think our players are geed up by having the fans back in after so long, it must almost feel like they're making their debuts. I notice that so far in the Championship, no home team is losing today.
  23. Why? They'll all be delighted he is playing well, so what would that achieve? He looked pretty poor for the first chapter of his senior career, with only glimpses, started having the occasional very good game late last season, and has been excellent so far today. Long may it continue but it won't rewrite history, only the future.
