    Raya update

#Rovers are pleased to report that, following treatment in hospital, David Raya is travelling back up to Blackburn tonight with a member of the club's medical department. (1/2)

#Rovers are hopeful that the injury is not as serious as first feared, despite David sustaining a broken nose & having several stitches to a facial wound. A further assessment will be made by our club doctor over the weekend; we hope to provide a further update on Monday. (2/2)

A little better news than at first thought, thanks for the update.

A huge heart.  Wish we had 10 more.

What a strange comment, that’s a big insult to all the Rovers players, regardless of who TM picks, you can be sure they are all committed to the shirt and every one who has played this season has a huge heart, but according to you we only have Reed.

In fact I would say this bunch of players have the biggest hearts of any Rovers team for a long time, all down to the manager in my opinion.

I must have seen 20+ Rovers' managers going all the way back to 'Jolly' Jack Marshall!

I've seen the good, the bad and the darn right ugly.

IMV, Mowbray is no better than a 'steady Eddie'.

OK, when Coyley left, we were in a mess but I think Mowbray should still have kept us up.  To go down on goal difference when we surrendered so many points through, IMV, Mowbray's tactics and negativity was so galling.

Did a decent job in bringing us up at first go but League One is dire and nowhere near as competitive as it was when firstly Gordon Lee and then Howard Kendall brought us out of the old Third Division as then was.  Last season, we were also probably the best resourced in that league by a country mile.

I think, at times, Mowbray over complicates things (tactically all over the place), too many square pegs in round holes and is too negative.  I find most of his substitutions baffling.

I think his transfer record is very mixed.  Dack is obviously the diamond signing but I wince at the likes of Hart and Gladwin.  Big money, for Rovers, has gone on Brereton and Armstrong and I can't see anywhere near £9million of value there.

A very decent and likeable bloke but for me, not the football manager  to lead us back to the PL.

Honest answer, obviously different view than me, think a lot of managers over complicates things, but to get us out of league 1 first time regardless of our resources, and to have a steady start this season, similar to Shef Unt, he’s done pretty good.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Jason Lowe captain England U-20's ? Enough said.

Don’t think anyone is comparing him to Lowe, you could all be right he could end up as a rubbish signing, just think it’s early doors to make any judgement, and why should Mowbray give the green light to sign him, too many people made their minds up already, time will tell.

We all want the same and are all have Rovers in the heart, just that we will all have different opinions. TM has done a great job, I dont think anyone is really disputing that - just questioning this transfer and the way he has been utilising the lad since he has arrived. Do not really think it is stick as such, just that many are confused with it all. If BB bangs in a hat trick against WBA playing up front though - i think everyone will be happy.

Right on what exactly? That nobody else's opinion can be right if it contradicts Mowbray comments which is what you have replied to?

I've not really followed why your annoyed with other posters on this thread. You normally just post your opinion well and then just move on so I'm not sure what's going on.

However leave the trolling posts like this one to others please.

    Ok.

When did anybody say you shouldn't be saying positive comments? Who has shouted you down? people disagreeing with your comments is not shouting down, its debate and what a messageboard is all about.

Yeah you’re right, can’t beat a good debate, different views but all want Rovers to be back where we belong, just gets to me with quite a few on here giving Mowbray stick when I don’t think he deserves it, in my humble opinion of course.

The comparison is for age !!!

To hear Mowbray talk, you would think our young lads had just stepped out of kindergarten.  I think it's ridiculous.  Butch Wilkins captained Chelsea 1st team at 17 !!!

Serious question, Mercer do you think Mowbray is doing a decent job, or would you prefer someone else, as you probably know I think he’s a breath of fresh air after some of the dross we have had recently, I know everything he does isn’t 100%,sometimes I think he gets the subs wrong, but overall a very decent, honest manager.

    How much?

Whether it be £100,000 or £1million, we have £7million LESS to commit in the next transfer window or possibly even one or two windows after that.

£7million would have bought at least 2 or 3 very decent players who would have gone straight into our starting eleven instead of a striker who is not good enough, even Mowbray must acknowledge this by virtue of the fact he wont select him,  to command a regular starting spot.  IMV, a signing that defies logic.

Wonder why Mowbray gave the ok to sign him then, he wasn’t getting much game time at Forest, but it’s potential he has, why do England u20s pick him, he must have something.

Yeah, but it's part of the board rules to type in clear, legible English and it isn't the first time this has been raised, to be fair.

Can we stop with the positive vs negative as well, please? It's duller than dishwater and isn't conducive to debate. If you think someone is being too negative, or conversely too positive, explain why, put some meat on the bones.

Seems to me like a witch-hunt against me, again, from you, what have I actually done wrong, what I wrote seemed to me,to be clear, legible English, and just explained I’m a little more positive than others, seen others come out with far worse but you never seem to mention them, you must have a problem with me.

Ah that old chestnut. Negative and positive.

How am I negative for saying that a transfer fee will always be used as a consideration when judging a player?

I have not even said anything about BB as a whole and believe he needs more time in his preferred position. Hope he comes good but 30 minutes here and on the wing is not enough to be able to form an opinion just yet.

Too many paragraphs for a short message.

    - You are right on wages. Just as if Brereton cost 7m and is judged accordingly, weve had many players on high wages that have been criticised for not providing value for money. The transfer fee we pay for someone, and the wages they are on, do influence determining whether someone is a success.

    - No one thinks that they know better than Mowbray. Its a commonly used, stupid statement to make. We are all entitled to our opinions, hence the purpose of the messageboard, and obviously Mowbray is not always right.

    - Im not sure its fair to judge his potential on tenious newspaper links. Im not at all convinced that Man United or Tottenhan ever seriously looked at him.

    - Forest fans were also pretty insistent that Brereton is not capable of playing a wide role effectively. And was much more effective central, and Forest only played 1 up front.

    - How do you know "for a fact" that Marriott was first choice?

How did I know re Marriott, because the guy who was dealing with it told me.

  13. 1 hour ago, JacknOry said:

A paragraph here and there would have made that far easier to read.

So its rubbish? Of course the contract comes into play as well - the whole value of the transfer comes into play. A freebie on 5k per week who turns out crap - nobody will care. Any expensive signing or player on large wages will have that taken into consideration if they are crap and it becomes a big deal as it is big money wasted by the club.

Chaddy was the one leading the slagging towards Graham at the start of last season so ask your mate about that one.

I have not even commented on Brereton and actually agree that he has not had the proper chance to show his true worth yet and will need time in his preferred position. My post was purely about Chaddy saying that transfer fees do not matter when it comes to judging the success of a transfer - which it obviously does.

Using Nuttall was an extreme example rather than me saying he was actually better, though in fairness, as of yet I have not seen to much to suggest that this is incorrect as of yet. Once we get to see him upfront playing as a striker like he is meant to be - we can get a better opinion on him.

Listen don’t come with the grammar police with me,if you struggle to read that’s your problem, you’ve got your negative views and I have my positive views, end of.

I am open and honest to admit that if I read open and honest again that I am going to top myself.

Fees do not matter? Seriously Chaddy, (yes i am stalking you again) but if Madrid go and sign Kane for 200 million and he flops, do you not think that the fee would be part of the equation? If Madrid then signed some promising young Brazilian kid that then took the league by storm for just 200k, do you not think that his low fee would ever be mentioned?

Difference is that prior to this season in the last, what is it, five years? we have barely had a net spend of a million and even that was in league 1 when we finally did break it - that we are now not allowed to discuss a transfer that could cost as much as 7 million?

Stop telling people what they can and cannot talk about - this is a messageboard. We signed a player for seven million quid and he has looked no better than Nuttal who we signed for peanuts. Do we care if Nuttal turns out crap? N because he cost nothing, do we care if Brereton turns out crap? Yes because we could have spent that 7 million quid far better.

Don’t talk rubbish, obviously it’s a lot to spend for a club like us, but you can sign a world beater on a free who’s run down his contract but wants £50,000 a week and if he turns out rubbish what do you say, oh it doesn’t matter he was free, I like to think I can tell a decent footballer but I wouldn’t even think I know more than Mowbray and his coaches, who have identified him as a big asset to Rovers regardless of his fee, the lad has to get used to the club, training, fitness, systems etc just like the other new signings, he’s not a Danny Graham, who btw this time last year some were slagging him off, he’s part of a front 3 like Mowbray has said, if we played 2 up top he could play there, but if we play 1 up, like we normally do, with Dack in the hole he has to play either left or right, similar to Armstrong who destroyed Leeds in the first half, give the lad a chance, a lot of Forrest fans were saying potentially he was worth a lot more than what we paid, it was widely publicised that Man U or Tottenham were going to pay 12 mil for him, after that game against Arsenal, too early to make any judgement yet, but the last two appearances he does look like he can dribble and is pretty fast, and as for saying he’s no better than Nuttall, that is silly, the big problem for Rovers is not paying the transfer fee but silly wages which has got us in trouble before, and I personally don’t blame them for keeping the wages sensible, I know for a fact that Marriott was first choice but his wages were unbelievable, the lads only 19 and like some sensible posters have said, it’s not his problem how much he cost, I do think he will come good time will tell.

No I'm saying Bolton have noticed crowds are down and are trying something to get fans back at an affordable price it works out at 15 quid a game starting with the boxing day fixture. I think its a good idea and any initiative to get more bums on seats at an affordable price should be applauded.

Of course it’s a good idea, we do it every season at similar prices, expecting an announcement shortly, the full season tickets ar £349 also give you an equivalent of £15 a game and like you said it’s an affordable price.

Bolton have launched a half season ticket starts boxing day works out at 15 quid a game wonder if we will launch something similar. Might be something Waggott could consider rather than whinging in the press

Why’s he whinging, all he said was he thought we would have sold a few more season tickets, of course half season tickets will be offered, are you trying to say Bolton are more savvy than Rovers, I don’t think so, seems to me every few weeks they are owing money to someone.

                            Raya

    Bennett Lenihan Mulgrew Bell

                   Rodwell Evans

    Reed             Dack       Armstrong

                        Graham

Subs Luetwiler Williams Smallwood Conway Palmer Rothwell Brereton

Reed coming off with a tight hammy could be unfortunate, think he won’t be risked,I’d  stick Travis at right back and move Bennett up if Reed doesn’t make it,don’t think TM would though.
