Tris isn't having a go at Jordan, its called sarcasm..... it does seem to get lost on some people though.
-
I've edited/removed a couple of posts. Hope you all understand why I have done this. If anyone wants to argue about it please feel free to PM me. Lets try to get back on the subject now.

The official site is claiming an undisclosed fee. Could this mean we are actually getting something for him.

[Archived] Chelski Transfer Madness
Ricky replied to joey_big_nose's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
I wouldn't describe Drogba as that. He has scored a few in the last 2 seasons but in the past he has never really been a big scorer. The lad Kezman is a goal machine, he's got a better scoring record for PSV that Van Nistlerooy. -
Thats got to be the lamest reason i've ever heard for keeping Flitcroft. I think your anti souness campaign is clouding your judgement Waggy. 3 goals last season, 4 goals the season before its not exactly prolific is it. Ferguson will score more than that in a season as will Thommo.

We didn't pay over the odds for Yorke at all. I remember in the build up to the deal a figure of 6m was being touted around. We got him for less then half that. Unfortunately things didn't work out and now appears to be the best time to get rid. Manchester Blue, you know what they say about great minds and all that
-
Which is why we are getting rid now. If they both go now we save around 6-7m in wages and bonuses. Surely that is the best option for the club.
-
27 league goals in 2 and a half seasons... its not really setting the world alight is it. Works out an average of 11 league goals a season roughly. Dickov managed 13 in the league last season with a poor leicester team. If we are paying in excess of 50k we should be getting 27 goals a season!!!
-
I seem to recall a few members on here a while ago arguing that Rovers would never pay over 40k a week for a player (Tris ) , well it looks like we have been paying considerably more than that. Dont think we will ever know the true figure but it looks like he was being paid over 50k a week. Not a bad little earner.

Hopefully the guy from SWI will invest some money into the club, he's got a bit of cash. Rovers have always been able to surprise us with transfers, if we can get Yorke off the wage bill too we should be able to bring in a decent player with the money we can save on wages. Selling Cole will save us 3-4m I guess shifting Yorke would save us 2-3m. thats anything up to 7m in saved wages. Not sure who would be good to bring in, Wiltord on a free, Earnshaw for 3-4m, Kanoute for about 3-4m, Beattie for 6m, Fowler for 2-3m. I know I'll get shot down for this but I still feel Fowler is not past it yet. I'm sure he's got a couple of seasons left yet.

I don't really think the Cole signing was a bad one. We were in the relegation zone at xmas, we bought him in, won the cup, and then finished tenth in the league. His goal return in that season was excellent. LeChuck (I think it was you) stated we should have bought someone else. Bear in mind that Cole was at peak age (28-29) when we bought him. There was nobody better at that time. We could have took a gamble on a young player but would they have been able to deal with the pressure of pulling the team away from the drop zone, I doubt it. At that time Beattie's form was shocking and there would have been uproar if we'd signed him and we would have probably gone down. We bought in one of the top scorers in Premiership history and he did a job for us. The club are in a lose lose situation with the fans. If they buy in a player and lose money on him over a few years the fans are up in arms. If they have a young player and sell him on for a massive fee (duff, dunn) the fans are equally up in arms.

What part of "It was Andy Welsh" didn't you understand???? I know the LET reported he wasn't going but looks like there may have been a last minute change when Cole dropped out. -

Found it!! Lucas has scored 8-0 El Thingimmyjig is not on trial with the club according to the LET. But I suppose if the club are trying to keep it quiet the LET are the last people they would tell -

Ummm, where have you heard a trialist has scored..... or am I being daft!! -
Didn't quite a few of Steads goals come from Gally assists. I seem to recall his first one for us away at Boro was from a Gally pass, the back post equalizer against Newcastle was from Gally's cross, the goal against Man United was from a clever Gally through ball. I think Stead would have had a similar impact whoever he played with, At boro we played with Gally and Stead and dropped both Yorke and Cole.
-
Greggy, there's this wonderful thing available these days its called TV. Its really clever and allows people in other countries to see the goals. Every now and again this crap comes up, I suppose you'll be throwing comments at me as well as I don't have 6 generations of family from Blackburn

I've heard it all now!!!! Wiltord is average at best.

Capt. It is better for the site for you to set up a standing order as paypal does take a small percentage (its about 3-4% now they have a uk system). Paypal is obviously better for the overseas members, as it is an easy way for them to contribute. Hope that helps

Ricky replied to SuperStella's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
I thought it was a 2-2 draw. -
Interesting interview with Souness on Rovers World today. He says there are reasons behind the change of Captain and they are not purely footballing reasons. He wouldn't go in to it but it certainly sounds like something has gone on.

I seem to recall there was a 5 aside competition arranged last time. I know you are not in Ireland to sort it this time around Rich but do you think any of the other ROI members might be intersted. -

That happens in Ireland as well does it Rich. I sometimes go to watch Hereford United and we always have a laugh at what the "Official" attendance is recorded as. It seems to be about 500-1000 different. Other clubs do it as well, Its a well known fact that Burnleh have 25000 at every home game and they take 10000 away -
roversactive, If you don't like the content of the thread then Dont bloody read it. Its fairly obvious from the title what its all about. You've got your own messageboard, please feel free to ban any scousers from there if you want to, we however understand how serious a subject this is. This topic has stimulated some moving posts, just read Tris' post (he's not a Liverpool fan) for evidence.
-
If I'm not mistaken it came about when everyone was blaming him for our performances last season. I'm sure someone will enlighten you further.

I Hope Skemlad returns to read Tris' post. I attended the Hilsbourough tribute concert some years ago, it was a very moving event and the raw emotion about the place was a very sombering experience. The one thing I would say is that it is entirely wrong to pin any of this blame on Wayne Rooney. Liverpool players have spoke to the sun and done interviews before. Edgar Davids was seen reading the sun whilst flying to England, would he have been berated for doing so if he had signed for Liverpool, I doubt it. Also I find it unbelievable that Liverpool fans still sing songs about the Munich Air Disaster when they play Man U, surely fans who have known the heartache of a huge disaster should not sing in jest about another one.
