  1. That was such weak refereeing. He had a word with Kaminski! Pathetic. At least he didn't give a pen for the next one....
  2. We will sit deep, but we'll have plenty of chances to get forward in the 1st half. A lot depends on how quickly Giles settles into a the formation. If we sit back for 90 minutes, we will lose. This team knows what it is doing, they are comfortable in possession, and a little composure in the final 3rd will pay dividends. Mitrovic v our back 3 is intriguing, but whether we can bring Giles into the attacking picture is the defining question. Here we go! Let's enjoy it!
  3. Giles looked impressive every time he got the ball against QPR, that's why he's in. I think he's more effective coming from deep. One thing's for certain, Fulham won't have planned for his inclusion in a midfield 3, as I think that's where he'll play, giving plenty of support to Pickering. Not sure where the goals will come from, it's a very young team, with grandad Johnson. I was confident of a win against QPR, not as sure today, but I've been saying all week that I think we'll be solid at the back. If Nyambe was fit, I'd be confident of a point, the back 3 will be busy covering Zeefuik, that's my only worry. It's a good test of our super-solid defence. A point or 3 sets up our super-surging March nicely. Cone on you mighty Blues!!!
  4. Regardless of who plays, we need to regain an ounce of COMPOSURE in the final 3rd, when it matters. I don't think this happens automatically, TM need to understand how important this is and work work work on it. We've started games ok since Xmas, but run out of steam because we haven't taken 1st half chances. Confidence is now compounding this rabbit in headlights feeling when we reach their penalty area. It needs to be focused on. If Tony has realised this, we'll be ok today. As always, a big IF. COYB!!!!
  5. The stadium will cheer euphorically, again, but immediately fall silent as we realise the implication of the decision. Will be bizarre, but it may well drop to Pickering or Rothwell to take....
  6. This is my take, but I have some sympathy with Miller's comments that if we play last night's team and approach, we'll never score again. But I think last night was as good a 70 min as I've seen since Xmas, and that team deserves another go. If we play that well, we WILL win. That may be a big if, but that's my preference. I'd probably accept Hedges for Gally, but Gally was part of a fluent, progressive performance, despite all I've said about not (ever) playing him. That's the only call for TM, we may even win despite Gally playing...
  7. This. We still have comrades on this board that think Gally should start. I don't agree with them, and I would start Hedges ahead of him. By Saturday, we'll have posters defending Gally again. And when he is dropped, he'll magically become the prodigal messiah again, and not just in his uncle Tony's wet dreams....
  8. We don't change formation, we just score our chances. I predict a win, similar performance to the Sheff Utd home game. Remind me after the game. 😄
  9. Making Khadra take that penalty, reminded me of making Wilcox take the 1st penalty in the 1993 FA Cup quarter-final, also at Bramall Lane. Totally, totally clueless. And yes, both decisions were down to the manager and senior players. NO COMPOSURE WHEN IT MATTERED, SINCE 29.12.2021. When will it end....???
  10. I agree with a lot of that, but it highlights my point that no-one seems to have noticed that we retained possession, pressed well and passed the ball skilfully and effectively for the whole of the 2nd half. And created decent chances. And should've been deservedly one up. That's how I saw it, and why I'm optimistic for Saturday. We'll pick this up on Sat at 2.30. I do, tho, share everyone's pain. It's tough to take at the moment.
  11. This is a really good point. He seemed obviously a Park signing, and Mowbray is reluctant to play him. That's is partly due to having most of our original winning side back in the squad, and you can't begrudge him the chance to give them one more chance. It sooo nearly paid off tonight. I worry, tho, that Park will continue to lobby on behalf of sub-standard Scottish talent, tho I would have 100% put Hedges on ahead of Dolan tonight. COYB!!!!
  12. I sometimes think you actually believe this IS a club website. Your Putin-esque refusal to accept even the merest criticism of the club, team, or manager, makes me feel like you should be on a club forum, or stood outside the ground with your signature book. I'm sure you weren't always this blinkered. Have you been hacked? I've been fairly critical of our performances over the last 2 months, after being fairly supportive over the 2 months before that. I say what I see, and try to predict what will happen based on recent performances. Tonight, I've been ostracised as a happy clapper by daring to say we were by far the better side, and if we play like that, we'll win on Saturday. But what I won't do, is defend the indefensible, and act like the club 'plant' at every opportunity. Apologies, I don't mean to be personal, but please try to be more balanced.
  13. When did you last see Dolan turn a centre-back, and keep the ball? He's full of energy, but zero composure. Khadra is marginally better, and that's why he's playing. Neither have composure when it matters, tho Khadra had no luck tonight.
  14. This. I've not seen a single post saying how well we played tonight. We survived a difficult first 5 minutes, then progressively grew into the game with our slick passing, good pressing, and individual/collective skill. They were so frustrated, they totally lost any professionalism, and should have had at least one more red card. But still we dominated. The penalty decision was our downfall, ironically, as it proved we have ZERO COMPOSURE when it really matters. Only in the schoolyard do you let the boy who wins the pen actually take it. Where were the senior players putting Khadra in his box, and giving the ball to our chosen penalty taker? NO COMPOSURE when it matters. But still we retained the ball, and created chances. Khadra played well. I really think he is considerably better than Dolan, who people have been clamouring for. I'm worried TM isn't working with him to improve his final ball, or desperation to score at every half opportunity. The withdrawal of Nyambe cost us the game, I would have taken 'anyone' else off. We didn't need to sacrifice our defensive solidity to freshen the attack up. Dolan was a little boy lost, in a man's game. The fact remains that we played well for 80 minutes, created a number of good chances, and should have won the game. TM will always play his love child Sammy, but we need to learn to by-pass him in attack, and leave him to defend corners.... How Buckley gets more criticism than Gally is beyond me. If you watch that game back, Buckley gets 90% of things right, and Gally gets 90% of things wrong. Before the penalty miss, I thought tonight was looking like the turning point in our bad run, and if we continue where we left off, on Saturday, I genuinely believe it will be. At 5pm tonight I was worried, but now I'm optimistic. Lots of pressure on Saturday, tho. COYB!!!!
  15. Did ANYONE on this board see the football we played, both before and after the red card? I'm as pissed off as anyone by the result, but if we continue to play like that, we'll be fine. And that starts in 3 days. Facts are facts. We were dominant, against a disgracefully desperate team of cynical cloggers. I've been critical of our performances since Xmas, but this was sooo much better... My worry about (absolute) zero composure in front of goal remains, and that may continue to derail us, but if we play like tonight for the rest of the season, we will be at Wembley. Bring on QPR. Even more important, after tonight's other results 😕. COYB!
  16. The game pivoted on the decision to let Khadra take the pen. Schoolboy stuff.
  17. I don't rate Mowbray, but this is crazy. This was our best 45 since before Christmas. And yes, that's despite the goal....
  18. I really don't agree. He has played his part in us playing a good side off the park.
  19. Our short passing is sublime at times. I really hope this is the turning point. Having said that, I can't see where the goals will come from in this squad. BBD or no BBD. Still time to prove me wrong tho, boys!!!!!
  20. There hasn't been one comment on how well we are passing the ball, completely controlling the game. Only focus is on the aggro and the home team. 50 to 70 mins was our equal best passage of play of the whole season, but I wouldn't be confident of us scoring an open goal.... Crazy times....
  21. I have no idea what game you are watching. Those two have dominated a strong Utd midfield....
  22. There hasn't been one comment on how well we are passing the ball, completely controlling the game. Only focus is on the aggro and the home team. Last 20 was our equal best passage of play ofcthe whole season, but I wouldn't be confident of us scoring an open goal.... Crazy times....
