  1. Fair comment, but the ball didn't fall to him once tonight, that's not just coincidence. I still would have given him the 1st 45, rather than the last 25.
  2. I thought Hedges played well, until he approached the box. He was instrumental in the amount of possession Swansea conceded. End product will improve. Mowbray said before the game that he wanted to steal a point with our reserve forward line, and play the 1st team on Wednesday. That's what more or less happened, the point was incidental to him, so it was all planned. If you go through 94 min without seriously testing the keeper, you don't usually win. TM may get us into the play-offs, but he will NEVER relinquish his sensible, safety first mantra. I would have played Diaz for the first 45 tonight, and maybe Khadra. I don't know anyone on the pitch tonight who would have scored the chances presented to our defenders, so that is not a reason for our defeat. That includes BBD on current form. Wednesday is a different prospect, but I'm starting to be pessimistic.....
  3. It seemed obvious with 15 min to go that if we kept doing exactly the same things, we would get exactly the same results. My main issue was that we displayed zero composure, especially when it mattered, throughout the game. For me, we hardly created a proper chance in 90 min. One where a forward was expected to score. JR was soooo deep, for 94 min., despite their lack of ambition. Swansea found it so easy to mark BBD out of the game, but the point is he hasn't played well, and we haven't played well (in terms of decent chances created) since Xmas. If we can play Giles at wing back, and Khadra and Diaz up front against Forest, we will win. Or at least create. Our bubble has burst, can we rediscover our effectiveness? All still to play for, but the signs are not great.
  4. I don't agree, I think we've been good going forward. We've pressed well. Where we have struggled, surprise surprise, is composure and class in the box. Buckley is a strange one, he is our most composed player, until he arrives in the box. There hasn't been an obvious option for our wide players, when we have broken. I haven't thought we would score, regardless of the quality of chance. I think we are playing well, and we will improve further. 1 or 3 points for the taking. COYB.
  5. If we lose or draw, the pressure will feel like it's on when we arrive at Ewood on Wednesday. As long as the players don't feel the same. Really looking forward to the Forest game, we've just got to smash and grab the Swans first. Good luck to those arriving in S Wales. We're proud of you.
  6. I think if he plays the same team and formation that has done us proud since October, we'll be fine. Suppose it depends on Joe's mental state, and Giles's form and fitness. BBD is also a big decision, which 50 min to give him???? From the start? Hope Joe plays, Trav is fit, Buckley pays his usual free forward role, and Khadra starts. If so, we are formidable. COYB!!!!
  7. If we take a thousand plus to this game, it will be stratospheric support. We've been unlucky with the Sky matches, in terms of away support, tho not at Luton obv. Good luck to anyone going, you deserve plaudits, and 3 points....
  8. Yep, hope we don't get the Swans backlash on Saturday eve....
  9. The Swansea Luton result is bad for us for many reasons. I just think we need to go for it from the start on Saturday and test their acute fragility. Our forward line is impossible to predict, will be much anticipated at 4.30 Saturday. Hats off to whoever is heading to S. Wales.
  10. How quickly we forget. Gally has his usual 4 poor games in a row, and there is some consensus on here that we'll win nothing with him starting. Then he is out for a while, when results invariably improve, or he has his one good game in ten, and we swiftly forget that he's not a footballer. I've watched most of his footballing career, and it beggars belief that we still give him the benefit of the doubt. With Gally as our main striker, we are at best mid-table. He can be a useful impact sub, and he is very useful defensively at set pieces. I have been hoping and praying this would change since 2016. Facts are facts are facts.
  11. So, the debate around what we might and should have done will rage to a whimper. For what it's worth, all points made have some validity. We may make one out of contract signing, to mitigate for a Brotherston scenario (brilliant post that, btw), but all we can now do is be the 12th man, at home and away. The support has been good since Sheff United, and it will need to be as passionate, and patient, when we lose a few games. We are now less sure about top 2, but we achieved priority one, keeping ALL the squad together. Now we are the 12th man, but how will we perform??? Like Gally, or like Shearer??? C O Y B
  12. How many said that about us 30 years ago....
  13. Sorry, meant Butterworth, and this is less of an option unless he regains the energy he showed against Birmingham.
  14. Historically, deadline day has only been frustrating and disappointing when we haven't made any window signings. We have made signings, and we are just trying to see what falls into place in terms of adding one more by midnight, but that will be a bonus. I would keep Davenport as attacking cover, as he has looked good off the bench in our winning run. Johnson will do a better job than posters think, as we get to the sharp end. We can do this, but a lot depends on the form of Khadra and Ben....
  15. No, I don't agree. Every time we've had a chance of top 6, I've wanted us to go for it, and the decision to keep together a tight, winning squad is getting close to 'going for it'. On a less positive front, we haven't played well since the Barnsley game, and we will only stay where we are if we start to dominate teams (in terms of chances, not posession) and BBD starts to look like scoring again. It's genuinely intruiging, and the final piece in the jigsaw is 15,000 supportive, positive, joyous home fans, as soon as the Sky season thankfully ends. That's the real challenge, but we're getting there....
  16. I suppose he may play, but will he play????
  17. I would have thought it was because 99% of us have appreciated the sharing of the disgusting content. We need to know what's allegedly being said on our behalf...
  18. I was worried about this. This is more likely to impact Joe's motivation than a failed transfer bid...
  19. We have a £20m replacement for Armstrong, in BBD. The Arma money has allowed us to pay the wages of our Premier League and German loanees. And to resist any offers for our other top performers. Many of us said that this window was about keeping the squad together, and we've done that. All we can do now is get the whole of the town behind the lads for the promotion push, and pray TM sticks with the winning post-Fulham system. I'm excited.
  20. I agree. Giles had 9 assists in 1st half of this season at Cardiff. That must be most of their goals 🤣 We'll be fine if we play them at wing-back, and this provides quality cover in every defensive position. Hedges, and hopefully Davenport (if he stays) will provide cover until the return of BBD. Maybe one more decent forward, and we are sorted for a top six finish...
  21. Apologies, but when is Ben likely to return from the Americas?
  22. We have a better chance of promotion with Rothwell, than without him.
