No alcohol allowed into the ground or so it says on the ticket . I suspect bags will be searched more than usual . The weather forecast isn't too bad actually . At least according to John Kettley on 5 Live today . Mind you , he's a dingle so what does he know ....

£13 and £12 are hardly giveaway prices , Neil ! It's no wonder the attendances were low for those games as well .... Now if they'd had made it a fiver for adults there would have been more there.... (Nearly forgot ....this thread is pointless ...we're all disagreeing ) -

The £15 stategy was a disaster .The gate could have been doubled if not tripled if the prices were lower . The money taken may have amoounted to about the same . The extra crowds might well have been tempted to return for the when the real football starts . A false economy by the money men at Ewood - they missed a chance to get people interested . 5000 proves my point and disproves yours . -

Nevertheless , Glenn , it's a topic that needs talking about if we're going to survive long term in the prem . Let's hope Scotty is a little more articulate in his new role as an ISA spokesman.... -

Once again the ticketing pricing policy was all wrong . Fair enough a quid for kids but any savings made by taking the brats was lost by the overpricing for the adults . Were the kids supposed to go on their own FFS ? Also a bit stupid to draw attention to the fact on the big screen that you can go against Fulham for the same 15 quid . Does that not suggest that they're taking the p1$$ a bit ? A great opportunity to get people through the gate and interested in Hughes's team by pricing tickets at a fiver for adults and one or two quid for the kids was once again squandered by the bungling amateurs at Ewood . The market place rules and any moaning about the inhabitants of Blackburn (or half of them at least) is just plain pointless . -

No it isn't pathetic . Despite the laudable successes of the police and intelligence over the last couple of days their track record previous to that in failing to pick up any signals of the bombings was non existent . With respect to this Brazilian , there are many unanswered questions . He obviously wasn't wearing a bulky jacket despite police claims , he wasn't carrying a rucksack , and if he was considered an imminent threat why the hell was he allowed to board a bus before arriving near the tube ? I'm still of the opinion we have a rogue copper who at the very least should not carry arms again . I don't believe he personally should be prosecuted but if the police don't give full details on everything that went on and their grave mistakes in the matter , then the consequences for the future could be very serious . Can you imagine what would happen if an innocent Muslim bloke , or woman , were to be gunned down ? We'd have riots on our hands ...

Torture maybe , Cletus .....but it's occured to me that a judicial execution (ie one after a trial ! ) would leave us in breach of the Human Rights legislation . I'm not at all sure if our Gov't could re-introduce the death penalty without repealing the Euro HR laws - and maybe without leaving the EU altogether . Still , it's nice to know that executions without trial on the streets are perfectly acceptable to many people - even , I'd guess , to those who are against the death penalty !! One more thing ; what are the chances of the "British" bombers being tried for treason ? Or is that a politically incorrect charge these days ?

Could you keep us informed , dan . I missed the deadline as well . -
It's an avalanche if you're the victim or related to one of the victims . On a similar theme , there's been many innocent Irish men and women who have fallen foul of British justice and spent years on end in prison . Perhaps we could argue that they should be bloody grateful they weren't shot ! Any sympathy for them , Bryan or was it just tough luck - being in the wrong place at the wrong time ? As for the latest news about the Brazilian ; as soon as I heard the allegations from his relatives thousands of miles away in Brazil , I had the strangest feeling that they were giving us a truer account than the incompetents who actually carried out the "execution" . The police and in particular the intelligence services are not doing a good job in this war on terror . Don't believe the avalanche of propoganda that tells us they are .

FlopMod - I think there's one thing we can all agree on and that is I'm not afraid of putting my point of view , even when it's unpopular and (sometimes) confrontational . I've never avoided any issue . Now I already spend enough time on here , so if I don't respond to every single little issue that halfwits like yourself put forward , it's because I'm prioritising in favour of more intelligent posters. Or the debate has moved on . In all honesty I haven't the faintest idea what these questions are , nor am I going to trawl back through the thread to find out . Enjoy your stay in Brum . Don't rush back .

Modi , the principles behind the Human Rights legislation have been enshrined in English and British law for generations - and in some instances you list , for centuries ! You make it sound like slavery would still be legal if it wasn't for the Euro's stepping in and delegating laws upon us . The HR law neither clarifies or reinforces anything - they cloud the issues and make laws where perfectly clear national laws already exist . The only people benefitting are the lawyers like Mrs Blair who constantly debate the wording and meaning of clauses that everyone from the Italians to the Dutch are meant to agree on . My argument is that there is simply no need to transfer the ULTIMATE legal authority to Brussels or wherever - especially when there is serious doubt as to how accountable and representative to us Brits these law makers are . Instead of delegating upwards and surrendering the powers of Westminster , our parliament should have supreme authority over the fate of our people . Accepting "wholesale" laws made in Europe does not necessarily mean that these laws are suitable for us - or for all of Europe , which is as diverse as it ever was . This leads me to the interpretation of this legislation . As long as we are bound by this supranational legislation the ultimate authority of its interpretation will also be supranational . In other words we no longer have supreme power over our own affairs . That is why it should be repealed . If necessary some aspects of these laws could be brought in by parliament - but interpration and ultimate sovereignty must remain at Westminster . It's nothing to do with the "principles" and worthy values behind its myriad of clauses . Anyone aquainted with with the legal history of Britain stretching back into ancient times will realise we treasure these values a lot more than some other states I could mention . Or rather we used to . When people are being blown up and a young kid is gunned down in the streets for nothing it's up to us and OUR representatives to sort out responsibility and dispense justice - not pass the problem on to Europe and money grabbing lawyers . What next ? Should we let the UN get involved in our policing ..?

...and living very comfortably on pension contributions donated by us . Thank you Graeme and John..... -
Yes , MCMC , the vast , vast majority of the country of all racial and political persuasions . Unfortunately , the liberal elite are contemptuous of the people and pursue their own agenda . The barrister Blair and his human rights lawyer wife wouldn't want to repeal unnecessary laws would they ? Not in their interests .... How about a referendum... ?
-
Flopsy , you're beginning to bore me now ...
-
You're making a lot of assumtions there , Modi - one of them being that Eddie knows what he is talking about ! How about disturbing the peace , inciting racial hatred , causing a public nuisance , etc ....? And neither did I suggest that it "didn't matter" if any law was broken . Why you put the word "celebrating" in inverted commas seems to suggest that you're not convinced they were happy about 9/11 (an assumpion in return !). Those of us who live in Blackburn know for a fact they were very happy . Hence the march , hence the banners . Now just imagine the scenario if the BNP were to "celebrate" the deaths of Muslims in Iraq or elsewhere - complete with banners . I reckon the march would be quickly broken up and arrests would quickly follow . Or maybe you disagree ? That's what I mean when I say the law should apply equally to all , be they Muslims , BNP - or even incompetent , trigger happy cops .
-
Well at least we agree on that , Flops . But actually it's been revealed that he was shot seven times - six of which were to the head !! Everything I've heard and read on this subject confirms me in my belief that the cops and the intelligence people are bungling amateurs . Particularly the cop who thought that one or two bullets in the brain might not be enough ....... The meaning of living in a free society is the fact that all people - in or out of a uniform - are equal under the law . How the hell has it got to the stage when someone can be shot 7 times by plainclothes coppers and people have little or no sympathy for the victim ?
-
You have a very naive attitude towards the police if you believe that was what happened . Basically , a trigger happy cop saw a bloke who wasn't quite white , who didn't understand what the hell was going on , chased him , and then shot him in the head five times . I call it murder . The intelligence servives , politicians and the police have ballesed this up from day one . Don't let them con you that they know what they're doing . They don't ...
