  1. True Rovers have, at this point, payed £4.4M. And are to pay £2.1M in August The Euro-money are a non-issue me thinks. Thus meaning that Rovers will have to pay £6.5M for Ferguson. You claim that the clubs would be even if Rangers pay £2.3M upfront, and wipe the £2.1M debt. This is SO not true. You can't count the £2.1M debt in just one of the deals, as you seem to do, you have to count them in both or none. In order for the clubs to be even one of the following deal structures have to happen have to happen: 1. Ranges wipe the £2.1M debt and pay Rovers £4.4M 2. Rangers pays Rovers £6.5M and not wipe the dept, and Rovers pays the debt it in August as planed. If Rangers offers what you stipulated. the math goes as follows: Rovers have payd £4.4M (+debt £2.1M) Rangers offers £2.3M (+debt £2.1M) Thus gaining Rovers a £2.1M LOSS. Not gonna happen!
  2. It seems my post have been greatly misunderstood. I am not, nor have I ever been, eagerly advocating the selection of MGP. I hope he will play, but if he doesn't then he doesn't. I'm sure Hughes is on top of things. Yes, i hope he plays because he is of the same nationality as myself. Wouldn't you too if a fellow countryman transfered to your favorite team? My earlier post is as said not a pro/con MGP post directly, it is more of a observation i have made over the time i have been reading this site (8 years now, i think). And roversmum: Where have i threatend _ANYONE_? Edit: Spelling and more spelling
  3. I see alot of the english users of these boards are getting a bit tired og all the MGP rants, an in fact as do I. But, the irony of it all is that if MGP was english himself all of you "we-are-tired-of-MGP-so-shut-up" brits would be crying even louder for him to get apps. Some of you are crying for british reserve-team players that have little or not at all at a high level to be included. (Perhaps not just now, but earlier this fall) As a regular user of these boards(more of a reader than poster) I must say, with all due respect, that some of you englishmen are very patriotically biased. A british player doesn't need to be as good as a foreign one seems to be the general "idea" among some factions of the fans. Just had to say it.
  4. Well..... He seems to look OK in Tippeligaen. However, in Rosenborgs latest Champions Leauge match he was a disaster.... along with other RBK defenders.
  5. Freidel - (one of the)Best keepers in the PL. Given is overrated Neill - Carr not a Souness transfer, Souness rates Neill Ferguson - A lot more then a maybe, wasn't one of his reasons for going to Rovers to work with Souness Tugay - I'll give you that one as he is getting on a bit. Stead - Shearer retiring after this season. Ameobi imho still somewhat unproven., and Kluivert will leave after this season... not a Souness kind of player. That leaves Bellamy and maybe Ameobi.... Another striker is defo a possibility Also as someone mentioned, Souness spent a lot of time getting MGP..... wonder what will happen there
  6. The resignation of GS doesn't bother me much when it comes to the manager position. As many have said here, i agree that he may have taken Rovers as far as he could. But the possibility of him comeing back for our best players worry me. In my opinion, the players we are in danger of loosing are: Friedel Neill Feruson Tugay Stead If these players are poached come January, we are looking at a grim remainder of the season....
  7. You're joking aren't you? Beckham's penalty was going in exactly the same position as Zidane's. If James had dived that way he may well have saved it. Well, I think Barthez had the easier penalty so save. Mr "I-can-only-use-my-right-foot-to-curl-the-ball" Beckham's penalty wasn't that hard to predict Comparing that to ZZ-penalty is just plain wrong.
  8. Not quite.... It's just JW saying that the rumour of a second bid from Rovers are not true. The mentioning of GS's other targets is just to try and pressure Tromsø into lowering their valuation. Letting them know we have other options. My guess is that this is just a media smoke-screen.
  9. Why his Championship Manager mentality on these boards? Almost all critics do the CM-chant: Young = Good Old = Bad Why is that?
  10. I disagree a bit BlueBoy. Rovers have been branded as "easy money" for selling clubs before. Therefore I think it is vital that we don't get that "honor" again. As long as we don't get on the wrong side of a last minute swoop by another club, I think the right way to do it is to bid low.
  11. Norway failed in the play off, not making it to the final tournament http://www.uefa.com/competitions/Under21/f.../Report=RP.html Other matches he played http://www.uefa.com/Competitions/Under21/F...9383/index.html http://www.uefa.com/Competitions/Under21/F...9388/index.html http://www.uefa.com/Competitions/Under21/F...9389/index.html
  12. Very few moonlandings, but at least we've got Carew flying up there.. mentally anyway.. He's actually well on his way to Mars....
  13. Well, Flo har not been a disaster IMHO. He had an unsuccessful spell at Rangers, but the expectations was immence there and thats the reason he got slated so much there. If you look at his stats, he actually did a decent job there. Also he had terrible time at Sunderland. Who could blame him for not doing well there? Afterall, as striker is only as good as the service he gets. He is actually doing well now in Serie A playing for Sienna. Then there is Mykland, a brilliant centre mid(just to bad his injury cut his career short). Played well for Panathinakos, and Copenhagen. His passing was sublime. Was often called "Norways Brazillian"
  14. Havent got time to translate the article in full, as I'm leaving my internett connection now. Basically the article says that Tromsø want to get 30M kroner(£2.5M). This is something the Tromsø board have decided on. Rovers initial bid was about 18M kr plus 7M kr in add-ons after X games played, but neither club has confirmed it. According to the director the bid was being considered, but was found to be to low. Chris Gorman(who ever that is) says he cannot give any other info other than what is on Rovers website. Quote from JW: "Pedersen is a player that we are definately interested in, so it is disappointing that our bid was refused." Gamst gives the standard "not my decission, have not been involved" reply, but behind those answers it seems like he would like a move to Rovers. Some encouraging quotes from MGP "I've always stated that it is temting to move abroad. It is nice to get this kind of message." He also ads that being able to get into the team is important. On the question if Rovers are good enough: "Yes. It is the PL. They were no. 6 last year and managed to avoid relegation easily(yes, he said that). Tromsø said that the importanse og MGP to the team made them reject the bid, but they will listen to other bids. There is also a boast about MPG from the Tromsø coach, saluting his offensive qualities, and his ability to involve himself defensivly.
  15. I think the deal that gets Gamst to Ewood will be this guesstimate. £2.0 upfornt £0.5 after X apps Most likely.....
  16. This looks good. Rovers might have to make a slightly higher bid, og give more add-ons, but from what that article said I think the deal will go through. (If Gamst wants to of course). But for all you whiners, please dont slate him before he has adjusted. He will be replacing Duff, and those boots are not easy to fill. Remember, he's 22 comeing from an inferior league, in another country. Do not expect him to gel as fast as Stead. I repeat, do NOT expect him to gel as fast as Stead. Tippeligaen is better than Third Division, but the difference lies in the change o enviorment. To move from Tromsø to Blackburn is harder than to move from Huddersfield. So do not get on his back after his first bad game..... give the lad time to settle....... if he joins us that is
  17. My guess: This was an initial cheeky £1M bid, just to see if we cold get him on the cheap. Come august MGP will be a -player for the sum of £1.7M Of course I have no backup for these chaims what so ever.
  18. BUSINESS BEST WITH MORTEN While RBK are buying their way out of a bad start to the season, their competitors are considering selling their best players. It would therefore be great fun if MGP decides to stay to challenge RBK for the title The two major transfers this summer is him and Magne Hoseth. Their clubs have apparently chosen diffrent strategies for the transfer everybody knows is coming:Molde is saying yes, please to everyone with enough money for Hoseths abilities. Tromsø is saying no to offers for MGP hoping to acheive something with their team before the inevetable sale of MGP. But in reality the decission lies with the players. Running a football business i Norway is not ideal, but the history og clubs run as companies is so short that player transfers are seldom decided by the economics. Especially not when the deal involves feelings Sale of local lads such as Hoseth and Gamst Pedersen does. Neither has grown up within their clubs, but their home clubs of Averøya(TIL) and Vadsø(MFK) are as good as family to Molde and Tromsø. So in reality they decide themselves if to say yes or no. For now the pressure is only onMorten Gamst Pedersen. Tromsø have got an offer from Blackburn for about 30 millioner kroner(£2.5M approx), but Morten is contracted till 2007. This contract has a moral clause that allows MGP to leave it both parties are somewhat satisfied with the decission. By todays price on norwegian players, 30M kroner is enough to make most directors satisfied. Still the Tromsø-management wants something more. Not because of extra millions if MGP continues his progression, but becaus of the position the cub is in, a position they couldn't dream about before the season started. The purpose of Tromsø (TIL) is not to make money. The clubs own vision is the following: The club with the biggest heart, and is best at becomeing better. This phrase would most likely not have suited the local PR agency, without removing the pompose(sp?) "drivel" behind the declaration of love. Among the fans there is however no doubt: It is the heart for the city and that part of the country which counts. So a few million worth of transferfees cannot measure up to the jubilation and pride of being first in this seasons Tippeliga. It is this sens of belonging and joy that made MGP sign such a long contract with. It is these feelings that is keeping him there. Footballingwise he has good reasons for doing so. Tromsø have developed an offesive game which in two monts time have made the team contenders for the title. The understanding between the four players at the front, is so special that it alone grants chances, goals andpoints even when the team has an off day. It is these kind og connections that lift both team and player further. In record time Ole Martin Årst has become a serious spissalternativ for the national team, the right wing Karim Essediri is set to make his debut for de Tunisia, Lars Iver Strand has made a name for himself nationally and Morten himself is in a position to choose which international development he wants the most. The force that lies in this progress is reason enough to postpone the transfer. Morten Gamst Pedersen doesn't need now training buddies to become better this season. Tromsø needs him to beat RBK. Just like Gamst Pedersen for another six months in Tippeligaen is what makes norwegian clubfootbal the big winner in the sports business Phewww..... long article
  19. He cost Valencia about 80M Kroner, which is about £7M, but that was almost at the peak of the transfer market. He is the player that have the highest fee involving a norwegian club Nowadays he would have gone for no more than half that.
  20. I highly doubt that is going to happen. MGP will most likely leav TIL when Tippeligaen goes into summer break, and leave hopefully for Rovers The fee will not exceed £2M, no players in Norway will be bought for more than that (unless Chelskji gets involved ).
  21. This, in my view, has more to do with the overall standard of the Norwegian league. There are very few teams(and thereby players) that do that in Tippeligaen. Even though I haven't watched Gamst Pedersen on many occasions (apart for the national games), I do think he has what it takes to do it in the PL, it all boils down to weather or not he can adapt to the english game, before he gets on the wrong side of the fans. He is no Duff (yet ), but he is a capable leftwinger with the ability to score as well as lay in a pass. He's been good for the national team (apart for agains Wales) but if we get him remember that he is still young and learning his trade. If he progresses he has the ability to be a very good player for any team.
  22. The thing is that in the modern game, it is the money that does the talking. The Alan Smith affair is a class example of that. MGP will leave Tromsø before 2006, that is a fact. Most likely he will leave this summer or after the norwegian season. And a big factor in this move will be....weehey, money. Going to him, his agent and Tromsø. My guess is that he will be a Rovers-player when the norwegian leauge pauses for the summer. for a fee og £1.7M.
