  2. Currently listening to the outstanding Thea Gilmore, newish album "Avalanche". Never heard of her before I was given the CD for Christmas. Thea Gilmore Link “Engaging and intimate... Gilmore writes like someone raised on a diet of Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen and Tom Waits" - sounds great to me
  3. Yeah, and good results over the next 10 days and we could be top half, what's your point? I think jim's point is this. Over the next two league programmes: Spurs - 2 home - Charlton + Birmingham Wolves - 2 home - us + Leeds Leicester - 2 away - Soton + Bolton Leeds - 2 away - Wolves + Newcastle Rovers - 2 away - Wolves + Newcastle Portsmouth - 2 away - Chelsea + Villa It doesn't take a surprising or unexpected set of results to put us in 19th spot and just one point ahead of Wolves. Of those teams Wolves have the greatest incentive to put together 2 wins and put themselves back in the race. Should that happen Rovers will be in even more trouble, if that's possible. I fully understand that TWO wins for Rovers could do a great deal for our league position. Regretably two consecutive wins for Rovers has proved possible just once this season.

  5. I'd forgotten all about this one till Shaun mentioned it. For those who weren't around two years ago Blueboy was once registered as Blueboy Down Under
  6. A Liverpool fan has just paid £600 for a Leeds shirt signed by The Stereophonics in the Five Live auction........shouldn't he get the club for that? :'>
  7. Dave I don't know the exact detail but it is certainly true Leeds have borrowed against season ticket income projected on their being a Champions League club in future years. I rthink they borrowed against the next 25 years income - talk about counting chickens before they hatched! Manchester City have done the same. On the question of City I read this weekend that while they have borrowed against the stadium and stadium revenues (the stadium is only leased from Manchester City council) their lease runs for 250 years. While City don't own the ground for the time being they might as well do so on that basis. City keep all gate receipts up to 38,000 per game, beyond that figure the council receives a percentage of the additional gate.
  8. This is a point philipl may be able to help with. The BBC reported last night that if Leeds go into administration they will not necessarily be freed of the bulk of their debt that results from a form of lease arrangement with two American financial institutions. The report did not go into details but did clearly state the debt to the Americans would still stand AFTER coming out of administration. How can this be possible if administration is to provide protection from creditors? The funds raised from the institutions were used for: 1. Funds released against projected 25 year ticket income 2. Players "leased" to the club. I gather one player was purchased for around £6m but his "mortgage" value is set at £9m - Leeds borrowed this - whatever price the player is sold for the £9m is still owed!
  9. That' The Independent for you - buy a quality paper and they give you Duff information
  10. Just as an aside I read today Bradford City are still paying Ashley Ward AND Andy Todd - don't remember Todd being there?

    The Board is Back

BRFC Supporters messageboard has been down overnight. The problem has been fixed and the MB is back to normal now.
  13. Following wins for Bolton at Tottenham and for Boro over Wolves in a bottom of the table clash, Rovers have dropped in to the bottom three for the first time this season and are now 18th in the Premier League. They have a game in hand over the five teams immediately above them in the table. The good news for Rovers is that Everton, who we face in our next home game, lost to Chelsea, Wolves failed to collect any points on their trip to Middlesboro, Leeds were thrashed by Arsenal at Elland Road and Villa gained just a point at St. James's Park. Tomorrow's clash with bottom of the table Leicester now takes on even greater signifigance; a win by any scoreline will see The Blues climb five places in the table to a more respectable 13th. 14. Our database clearly believes he should stay. Afraid we'll have to wait for Ste to appear and look for it.
  15. No, we are still 16th. The only good thing about this weekend is that Leeds, Bolton and Leicester lost and Boro drew leaving them in 17th spot and the rest in the bottom three.
  16. It is a cast iron certainty that Rovers will be relegated if we continue with our present form. If results continue in the same vein we will achieve no more than 30/31 points, based on last season 44 is the target for survival which means we must nearly double our performnace over the next 28 games to earn those next 36 points. I'm 100% behind Souness but after a lot of hard thinking I've reached the conclusion that there must be a significant improvement through November or the board will have no choice but to take dramatic steps. Victories over Leicester, Everton and Spurs are essential, followed by wins over Villa and Boro by Christmas. Frankly it's hard to see anything coming out of the games against Utd, Birmingham, Arsenal and Newcastle. IF this can be achieved we'd still only be on 23 points with exactly half the season gone. My faith will not waiver but we are facing a relegation battle NOW. Souness knows, and often states, survival is the priority. He may well pay the price inside the next month.
  17. While I'm still firmly in the Souness camp - I'd suggest Chris Coleman as an alternative. He appears to have achieved at Fulham, in a very short time, the resolution of several problems: Fractured dressing room Senior players taking more responsibility Improved team spirit ..and all without spending money, as far as I'm aware. Increasingly our team look as though they don't know what to do in given situations. I'm wondering to what extent this is inlfuenced by Boersma being replaced by Dean Saunders this summer? Boersma was the defensive influence on the team with Souey looking to drive the team forward in attack. We clearly cannot continue to play Ferguson, Flitcroft and Tugay in the same midfield until someone tells them excatly what roles they are supposed to be playing.
  18. I should mention I've had a complaint.
  19. ....and poor shilito is learning this at an early age I know YOU are.................
  20. Come on girls and boys ......calm down please
  21. The one real problem to the arguement of sacking Souness is money. Personally I haven't lost faith in Souey and I believe he can turn it around for us. The situation is not good but we still have time, not much granted, but we aren't at full scale crisis just yet. Defeat by Southampton and Leicester would change that view. Any new manger would expect to have funds made available in January. This would potentially leave us with several millions of unwanted talent until at least next summer who might then have to be off-loaded at cut prices - we've seen this before. Rovers probably can't afford to take that decision yet and unless or until we reach real crisis levels. A couple of wins will make things look very different and I'm just praying we can start on Saturday and follow it up at Leicester.
  22. why do you continue to begin every post you make with a remark designed to p*ss people off ? Tris, mate - he's only being sarcastic after several people where a lot more direct in their criticism of rover6 last night. I don't get the impression it's a wind up.
  23. No one is being asked to alter an opinion, simply to refrain from suggesting other members #### off or name calling. End of matter please.
  24. rover6 - I think there are a few on this thread who might like to apologise to you this morning after sleeping on another terrible result for Rovers. Personally I don't agree with all of your views but I don't see anything wrong with the way they are expressed. I saw the first few reactions and that Flopsy had reacted properly to try and defuse things when he knew everybody was already upset and unhappy. Tchocky, BTW, rarely moderates, if ever, his role is very much on the technical side. I thought after Flopsy's post things would die down plus I was too tired and depressed to sit around waiting to see what would happen. I'm expecting a miserable day on here - would people please not take their frustration out on other members who post views which they do not agree with, it is after all an MB with freedom of speech but that does NOT include freedom to abuse.
