  1. When Abramovich first arrived I worried about the effect on the game in general, I shouldn't have done. Abramovich is like a child collecting toy figures, his just happen to be live footballers, many of whom will end up forgotten, laying under the bed. No club will compete with him in the transfer market so his effect on the game in general is very limited. The man is a fool, a rich and successful fool, but someone who knows the price of everything and the value of nothing. Chelsea FC is a joke. I feel sorry for the fans who must by now realise they've been conned. I feel sorry for Ranieri who seems to be a thoroughly decent man and an example to all as to how those in football should conduct themselves. As for the players? No one forced them to sign, if they are unhappy with life at Stamford Bridge......tough. Take a pay cut and move somewhere else. It won't be long before Chelski targets realise they would be better off elsewhere and no amount of money will then persuade a player to sign.
  2. Sounds like a good idea to me. Rather than relying on the punters to buy get out there and convince them to buy or at least find out why they won't.
  3. Tell you one thing Mr R, carry on like the post above and you'll be off this MB faster than Dunny can eat a pie. The players are good enough to give interviews, real fans show them some respect.
  4. Me too. Dunny had the balls to walk on the pitch when the fans COULD have booed him to make the HT draw. I think he deserves credit for that.
  5. Its the name- sort of sounds 45ish and sensible
  6. Excuse me but I haven't made any comments of the sort. I just posted the thread. I'd like to see Dunny back at Rovers, while he's at Birmingham or anywhere else I have very litle interest in what he does other than when he's playing against the Rovers.
  7. What a great night after the game. I think there were around 70-80 from the MB in Blues at one time or another. I had a great time meeting lots of new faces.
  8. As you know, in an attempt to create a closer link between supporters, prior to each game we attempt to get the views of the opposition supporters in the form of a questionnaire plus predictions on the outcome of the game ahead. Just for a change, I approached a Rovers supporter playing for the opposition, and I’m pleased to say that David Dunn responded to the questions set. I know a lot has been said about events surrounding Dunny’s transfer to Birmingham, but I hope on this occasion you will give him the credit for sparing the time to respond to fellow Rovers supporters. What was the first Rovers game you watched ? Not sure of the game, just remember Ossie Ardilles and Steve Archibald playing. Which Rovers game stands out in your memory as a Rovers supporter ? When Shearer scored against Man Utd or the play off final against Leicester. Which Rovers game stands out in your memory as a Rovers player ? Worthington Cup Final v Spurs Who during your lifetime has been the best Rovers player ? Alan Shearer and Gordon Cowans. What was your worst moment as a Rovers supporter ? Getting Relegated What was your worst moment as a Rovers player ? Getting Relegated Who was your room mate on away trips at Rovers, and did he snore or have any strange rituals ? Martin Taylor……………I just cant get rid of him. Who is the biggest joker in the Rovers squad ? Graeme Souness Do you read supporters internet web sites, and if so have you ever read the fans message board on this site ? (www.brfcs.com) Yes, once or twice, but most don’t have any idea about football so I don’t anymore. What are your plans for the summer ? To get my injury sorted out for good. If Rovers had needed a point to stay up, and Birmingham were given a last minute penalty on Saturday, would you take it and if you did would you hit it over the stand ? No, I would take it because its my job to do so. But Brad knows where I put them anyway HA HA. Any suggestions for Burnley on who they should appoint as their new manager ? Not bothered Prediction for Saturday ? 1-1 Any other comments ? Glad that they stayed up, I was worried for a while. Good Luck Signed. David Dunn David, If you do read this, thanks again. Alan.
  9. As a complete surprise to us all Alan got a Q&A session with Dunny. he would have posted it before the game yesterday if the MB hadn't crashed. I'm posting this 'cos Alan isn't around but ALL the credit goes to Alan for getting the interview. I was really pleased to see Dunny got a good reception at half-time yesterday.
  10. Oi!! I'll be wearing a blue Rovers polo shirt from ten years back plus my BRFCS badge. Check my profile for a photo, they don't allow bikes. Alternatively watch for the shiny head on 50 year old. Hope to be there about 5.30 - 5.45 and looking forward to meeting anyone who hasn't met other members before. We should be around the far end on your left as you approach the bar.
  11. If anyone wants a BRFCS site badge please find me before, during or after the game. I will be in Blues from around 5.45pm.
  12. I don't suppose we could do all this at Ewood for the Brum game as well - some of us are feeling very left out
  13. Well I know I was thinking in a slightly different direction at the time but you heard it here first. once again Very worrying crowd stat from the other night
  14. How does that one work? I've been to Crewe a couple of times and used a friend's son's swipe card to get in. Haven't been able to pass for under 16 for a couple of years now.
  15. Agree with what you're saying Eddie, it could be a real danger for some players, including Duff. Ultimatley it will down to what the player, as a person, aspires to.
  16. Nope. I'll be wandering around with a bucket flogging badges
  17. I feel you both hit the nail right on the head. My understanding is Abramovich had no real intereat in football until perhaps two years ago, now he's trying to live an entire life's experience in a matter of moments. For most fans you might just see a cup or championship (any league) once or twice in your life time. Abramovich gives the impression of being a child who must have everything in the sweetie shop - NOW! This is a fad not a passion born in childhood when Dad dragged you to the game. There's little doubt in my mind he will continue to buy any player he wishes and will cast aside those who are no longer marketable or flavour of the month. Eddie For a lesser player it could well ruin his career for the great ones, such as Duff, the implications are more likely to be financial. Duff is reportedly on £80k per week, if he were to leave Chelsea his only realistic options at that level would: 1. Man Utd or maybe overseas 2. Massive pay cut 3. Sit in the stands Seems to me all that glitters is not gold and some players will pay the heavy price of watching their careers just drift away. For Chelsea FC and its fans the sad fact is this; Chelsea will win the odd trophy today or tomorrow but there is no real fabric to this story, it's just instant gratification. Football clubs are about tradition and comparing say Man Utd, Arsenal and, yes, Rovers with Chelsea, what do you see? Three proper clubs and a billionaire's playing thing. A great deal has changed in our game in the last ten years. However real support for a club will always be a generation to generation thing for many fans. I'm talking about true support here, the gut wrenching type, it has nothing to do with cheque books, sponsors, etc. For me this applies wether you support Arsenal or Carlisle United.
  18. I knew this would get out of hand..........and it's only page ONE. Staying up, staying up, staying up
  19. I think a lot of people may be in that state. Hopefully, this time I have to do some public speaking without any warning with significantly raised alcohol levels. Unlike the Groobys You ARE going this time Paul aren't you ? Or do I need to stay sober this time Think you may have left a word out Glenn? Unless of course you're volunteering * Yep, I will be there. * His brain works faster than his fingers
  20. That has to be the worst excuse ever. Stay in Friday night and wash your hair after you've pressed your trousers

    Three On The Bounce

Blackburn Rovers seventh away win of the season captured three vital points that move the club to 40 points, 13th in the table and close to Premiership survival after a traumatic season. Both keepers had outstanding games with Friedel producing superb saves from efforts by Watson and Radzinski, Nigel Martyn denied the Rovers with excellent stops from Craig Short and Jonathan Stead. Match reports suggest this was an exciting, open game with plenty of chances at both ends. Everton pushed forward for much of the second half but Rovers counter-attacked well with Jon Stead clinching the points in the 81st minute heading home an Andy Cole cross for his sixth goal in ten appearances. Join the post match discussion HERE Everton: Martyn, Pistone, Yobo, Weir, Naysmith (Unsworth 63), Watson, Linderoth, Gravesen (Nyarko 23), Kilbane, Radzinski (McFadden 79), Rooney. Subs Not Used: Wright, Jeffers. Blackburn: Friedel, Neill, Amoruso, Short, Gray, Douglas, Flitcroft, Tugay, Andresen (Emerton 75), Cole (Gallagher 86), Stead. Subs Not Used: Reid, Johansson, Enckelman. Booked: Andresen, Neill, Tugay, Douglas. Attendance: 38,884. Referee: P Dowd (Staffordshire).
  22. Message Board members are planning to meet up in Blues Bar after the Birmingham game for a few beers, curry (later possibly?), running out of petrol and falling down holes............ Blues gets quieter about an hour after the game so we plan to be there from 5.45pm or of course earlier for the dedicated fan............ All welcome, look forward to seeing you all again. Dunny is bringing the pies.
  23. Atkinson was on a re-run of Room 101 last night. Some of his remarks went to underline his real personality as do the Desailly remarks. The man is a fool, knows nothing and lives off a nothing reputation. Good riddance. You can only hide so much for so long.
  24. Ah Ha! Good found that one. Not quite sure what's happening but we lost this thread earlier. Which would have lead to a very unhappy Alan
  25. We'll have to wait till she gets back from Rugby Park for an answer.
