  1. How much is Sky these days? Assumming one wants to watch all the footie.
  2. Disastrous move for the clubs, the game will eventually be destoyed by Sky TV and its millions. Any fan who is less than 110% comitted or whose team is struggling will simply turn on the box for an hour and call it support. Very, very disappointing news. Sooner or later we are all going to have to wake up to the serious implications of Sky TV, it will destroy the game, in fact it has already taken its heart, Murdoch is just coming back for the soul now.
  3. One aspect of the ST sales that has not been discussed is the gulf between the players and fans. It seems the tolerance level amongst fans in general for poor performances from these multi-millionaires is decreasing all the time. I feel this is a national trend but one that impacts more significantly at Ewood. Rovers have a very small population to draw from, upset a % of fans with poor performances or perceived "not trying" and the impact is significant. The club need to be aware, and make the players aware , of the need to connect with the fans and bridge the divide. This doesn't mean more glad-handing at the local hospital but a serious demonstration of committment to Blackburn Rovers and the local people.
  4. Spot on Alan I'd also add the home fixture with Utd is crucial as it comes so early in the season. Rovers need to: 1. Ensure purchasing a ticket is simple - good weather, bank holiday etc may convince a lot of last minute punters to attend 2. Advertise the fixture 3. Contact everyone who went to the same match last season. 4. Then the team MUST put on a decent display. A massive game just two weeks into the season. A good win over Utd would set up the crowd AND ticket sales for weeks to come.
  5. Just catching up this thread. Revidge I understand exactly where you're coming from. Rovers is gut wrenching emotion....that's the difference
  6. Simply Yes. You do an upgrade at the TO by paying the difference. I've done this many times over the years. In theory you should do the upgrade at least 24 hours prior to the game but I've done it right up to KO on occassions.
  7. How can anyone value Gerrard at £47m against Duff ONLY £17m last summer. These people at Chelsea have gone utterly mad. They have a wonderful footballer, the finest left winger in the PL, a decent man and they are prepared to give Damien to Liverpool plus Parker plus £20m. Kenyon must be stark, staring banonkers. I bet Ranieri is glad to be out of it. Utterly unbelievable if it is true. Take the money Liverpool, the sooner Chelsea explodes the better for the rest of us.

  9. Good for Liverpool, tough on Parker and Duff. BBC report Gerrard to receive £6.5m per annum. Chelski = laughing stock
  10. I'm off now guys..............got an early start tomorrow
  11. 4 pages, 65 replies in 25 minutes.................i can't keep up
  12. Quite likely, in fact very likely
  13. tell you what lofty you can always meet us all in Blues, have a beer and calm down
  14. Great idea, put a word in for me too
  15. I have a feeling lofty could be saying bye bye for a while..................shame he's only been back for a couple of days
  16. I shall be driving to London on Thursday evening Richard Branson - paah! Heart says England. Head says - don't know, very difficult to call
  17. Season Tickets are mailed out 5th to 22nd July so you should find out then. Tom may be right
  18. There is a very vague rumour of Cole and Fowler swapping clubs. It's been around for six weeks but only reported a couple of times. Unless both clubs are keeping it totally secret - not easy these days - I HOPE there isn't any truth to the rumour.
  19. Understand your sentiments bob but in fairness to the press the incident is reported as happening at 4.00am. It has been all over the BBC since around 8.00am when the story broke. Currently the broadcaster seems to be struggling for information other than: There was no hint of trouble nor any mass violence A 27 year old England fan died from stab wounds said to be inflicted by a Croatian fan A Croatian has been arrested in connection with the suspected murder of an England fan PS - I'm not trying to be an apologist but this does appear to be the situation at the moment
  20. Brian Kidd's Affro logs on occassionally Bernard was logged on in the last week Ken Brooks certainly took exception to the lack of respect shown by some to his point of view. Cool Claret - spoke to her about six months back, she just felt it was time to move on to other things.
  21. No - Doris was not jim but an alias used by a now banned member.
  22. If you missed it - try again around 2.00am. Nearly 40 years on and Pet Sounds could have been written yesterday "I Just Wasn't Made For These Times," it's impossible to imagine what Brian Wilson could have achieved if he hadn't suffered 30 years of mental ill health. Outstanding, utterly outstanding sounds.
  23. I have edited a number of uneccessary posts out of this thread. Any problems - I'll empty my PM box now We are all entitled to our views on England, Portugal, fans, hooligans, the red tops and the media in general. That doesn't justify direct insults. No more please.
