  1. A lot of pondering going on today. I am pondering whether it would be acceptable for all concerned to unbundle the 10 million bit and do a straight loan for the good of the player if nothing else. Then have a gentleman’s agreement to do the right thing if we get promoted.

Probably sets a precedent that the EFL doesn’t want.

Another alternative is for Forest to release O’Brien and we pick him up and pay all his wages which I am sure we are not doing. I don’t even know if we have paid fully for Bretherton yet. Who knows?

There must be a way to ensure a good player doesn’t twiddle his thumbs for half a season. Nobody wants this situation. Especially the Player ‘s union.

Anyhow, two strikers needed now ideally I'd say.

Not that out crack recruitment team are even capable of finding one. The army of analysts will feed a list of criteria into the computer, wait for it to crunch the results and then provide us with a list of players we can't afford

Here is an artificial intelligence response. Looks like Nicko’s job  is safe for the moment. 🤣

Blackburn Rovers should look to sign players that can strengthen their squad in areas where they are currently weak. They could look to sign a creative midfielder to help provide more attacking options for the team, as well as a defender to provide more depth in the backline. They should also look to sign a reliable goalscorer to provide more support for top scorer Adam Armstrong. Additionally, Blackburn should look to sign young players with potential to develop into key players for the club in the future.

  3. It is quite a risk knowing that your top scoring striker is leaving on a free and will still be motivated to give his all and risk injury in the dying months of his contract.

we are going to need a target man before close of play if we are going to give our new signing something to aim for.

    Otherwise Gallagher it is.

The evidence points to it being more than tin foil hat theories. Indeed, as you say if they weren't bothered (about something) they would have got rid of the club.

The only thing that makes sense is they want to avoid scrutiny that would come with a sale, liquidation or even the premier League spotlight (though it did bugger all for us before) and see us plod along at this level.

Anything else doesn't make sense. Unbothered they would have sold, bothered they'd have done something else by now. Even error rather than design would have seen the latter.

    So I don't think it's a conspiracy whatsoever.

In the absence of anything remotely interesting happening on the transfer front, i have been dumpster diving on the theory of the tin foil hat for those waiting for page 200 to reveal our latest signings.

“While the underlying concept is good, the typical foil helmet fails in design and execution. An effective Faraday cage fully encloses whatever it's shielding, but a helmet that doesn't fully cover the head doesn't fully protect it. If the helmet is designed or worn with a loose fit, radiofrequency electromagnetic radiation can still get up underneath the brim from below and reveal your innermost thoughts to the reptilian humanoids or the Bilderberg Group.”

I know things have changed from the old days Gav,

The point I was trying to make is that we seem to be trying to set up some kind of complicated system to adapt with the modern ways of  scouting players, - along with long term plans to somehow finish up with a promotion team but I don’t think this current lot have a clue as to what’s really needed.

We had just as much chance all those years ago when everything Transfer wise was left to a manager who knew English lower league inside out and a chairman who knew the club inside out.

Everything has been delegated or parcelled out so everyone can blame everyone else when magic doesn’t happen.

  6. This whole transfer window for loan players is a

    lottery.

Rovers identify a player who may be surplus to requirements > manager checking injuries to see if he needs back up > other clubs get involved > agent stick his/ her oar in to get the best feel for the player and himself/herself > player’s partner has a say in what they like > Rovers are doing the same thing with other players at other clubs to cover their bases> loan club then buys a player a week before the transfer closes and loan player is suddenly made available> Rovers need to ship a player out to pay for the incoming player> loan deal needs to be made with player/agent/club >medical etc

Probably cheaper to go in early with a bid that is over what we would normally pay and get your man early and save thousands of man hours and admin costs

    Am I being simplistic?

I am very tempted to take the current odds of 16/5 on Bristol City beating us by more than one. Not because I want it to happen, but, given that they scored 4 at home last week and given that we have conceded 4 in 3 different matches (2 at home) in the last 6 matches, I see us getting a hammering yet again.

If my £50 gives me a £160 profit to take me and the Mrs out on Saturday, to dull the pain, maybe the weekend won't be fully ruined for a change.

    Sound logic

  8. Breezed through the century with a flash of the willow. And no sign of anyone new at the crease.

Reality check. We are 5th in spite of ourselves. Our owners have stuck with the journey/project in spite of ourselves, when other owners have bankrupted their clubs or put them up for sale.

For all of our frustrations we are not Wigan or Blackpool.  We are not recent relatively recent Premier League teams struggling in this division.

I hate watching us lose by ridiculous amounts to shitty teams. But I trust we will bring a few warriors to support our youngsters and steady the ship by page 300.

Honestly if he's not backed in January he'll probably walk in the summer.

He didn't walk away from league titles and Champions League football to play Gallagher and Vale upfront.

He knew what he was  signing up for. Presumably he was given assurances of some sort. He hasn’t had a proper window yet. Let’s see what the crack recruitment regiment brings in.

  10. The only way to stop the “Mowbray death spiral” rebranded the “JDT tumble” is to buy/ loan three rock solid proven players in defence, midfield, and attack.

Games like these need ugly. Every pass backwards is 20 seconds less opportunity to score a goal. We need a few bruisers to push forward and  to eek out draws and wins in an ugly way.

I am also in a minority here I know  I love Dack and on his day he is capable of magic but relying him to be the talisman these days is not a real option.

We need real balance. Dack had an intuitive partnership with Danny Graham which yielded plenty of goals. We don't play Brereton or Gallagher as target men. We should, against teams like Rotherham

  11. In fairness we are only page 76

I believe we need to get to page 300 before the real action starts.

I think that if any of the big clubs came in with a bid of seven or 8 million for Brereton with a really good target man replacement we would give that serious consideration .

The question is who could be an attractive makeweight in such a deal?

Edun isnt good enough and has looked out of his depth basically in every appearance. Glad hes going. We do need to be bringing in 2 or 3 to improve the starting 11.

We are shipping them out like its Amazon sale day. I hope the crack recruitment regiment have better replacements ready to come in. All we need are a few continental imports with work permit issues for a few months.

Our squad is getting thinner than a Walls Neapolitan wafer.
