[Archived] New Deal For Mokoena?
bob fleming replied to den's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
You've done it now. The Sky Sports Teletext thing states that Samba is suspended and "Zurab Khizanishvilli or Aaron Mokoena will fill in at Centre Half". Surely not? Hughesy wouldn't do that to us would he? Not at Christmas an all? -
[Archived] Benni Mccarthy - Gone
bob fleming replied to adam lodge's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Thanks for the reply Eddie. Eloquent as ever. Just a few things then... The penalty was rubbish and I don't actually recall Benni putting it in the opposite corner (but I'm probably wrong) - In all fairness anyone can take a bad 'un but I alonng with the other 16,000 or whatever it was knew he was going to put it there. "Graft" you're right it's a different opinion to mine. "Flicks and Tricks" - on his day it's brilliant. I remember one such day this season. "Benni is the best goalscorer we've had at this club since Shearer" - I don't think so. He's scored 5 league goals this season. FIVE. Hardly setting the world on fire is it? What he did last year has no bearing on what he does this season (unfortunately). Shearer once scored 5 after he was laid up with his knee from his hospital bed - and even when he wasn't scoring from Bed 12 Ward C he made a few assists. I believe the term we're looking for here with Benni is HIGH MAINTENANCE. That's where the "Graft" comes in I suppose. I honestly wouldn't mind if Hughes "cashed in" - so long as we get a replacement in (before anyone mentions the money - Santa Cruz cost £3.5m? I'd take two of those against two Benni McCarthy's anyday of the week). As for the personal stuff - where? I just said you were talking @#/?. Is that personal? Who knows. It wasn't meant to be a personal attack, although looking back it was a little blunt I suppose. I just disagreed strongly with what you said. -

And you do? You talk utter @#/?. That penalty yesterday summed him up - a half arsed attempt, under hit and put in the same place he always puts it. If he doesn't want to be here then get rid - end of. A player not putting in 100% every week, doing fancy flicks at the wrong time and in the wrong area of the pitch, leaving the ground before the final whistle because he's been subbed - it's in the best interests of the club to get shut as far as I'm concerned and cash in. I don't care how much bloody skill he has - it means nothing if he can't be bothered to add a bit of graft to it as well. As for that crap you've written in the Hughes out thread. "He looks like a manager out of ideas" What was the view of the dug out like from Paris? What do you want, a badge? "I said it first, it was me this time not rover6 - Hughes must go". Pathetic. Get rid of those who don't want to be here - let them go elsewhere - I'd suggest in most instances they'll be going to a lesser club but then again I suppose some of them want regular first team football. -

Same old set though? Any new stuff? Are they still playing Rosalie? -
Great stuff Oz. I remember this season well. Just had a look on Soccerbase for the results after the Portsmouth match, four straight wins culminating in a 2-1 win against Leeds on Boxing Day - top of the table and there really was a feeling that we were going to do it. And then, without wanting to steal too much of your thunder Oz, it all went wrong. Culminating in the 3-0 win against Wolves on the final day of the season. We could still have done it that day but results went against us. Still, Rovers did their bit. Ian Millers tears anyone?

[Archived] New Deal For Mokoena?
bob fleming replied to den's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
The actual quote was cut short. "Every player wants to play as much as possible. I've always been patient, but I don't like sitting on the bench. I started more games towards the end of last season, but it has been more frustrating this season once again. The gaffer says that once I learn how to jump and challenge for a header in the box then I might get a regular game but until then I'm going to be in and out of the team and I should keep quiet. It's just not fair. It didn't stop Darren Peacock or Christian Dailly. Why pick on me? -
Hard to say Gav if I remember right we were all stuck down one of the sides of the ground, rather than behind a goal - it was jam packed, if not dangerous. 5k won't be far off I'd imagine but it's a long time ago now. Whittle Blue - legendary stuff fella. Please keep it coming.

The answer is simple. Remove the top tier of the Darwen End, Blackburn End and half the Jack Walker Upper. Therefore reducing the capacity to around 20K. We'll then sell out every single week. The pundits and Sky commentators will then start saying "these are some of the most passionate fans in the Premiership". Well it works for Portsmouth anyway. I wonder if they're having a similar discussion about how their world will cave in if they don't start averaging more than 20K every match? As we know they can't as their stadium isn't big enough, but it doesn't seem to be slowing them down either. Maybe all that Sky / Setanta TV money is pulling them through as well? As for "punching above our weight" - I wouldn't want to say that in front of Mark Hughes. Are you after a place on the board Theno?

Upson's only played about 20 minutes of football for West Ham though. Come on, give him a chance. -

Exactly. Two days ago Hughes says that Benni is stopping. Today there's an interview in The Sun (of all places!) and everyone assumes he's off! Who's buying him by the way? Has a fee been agreed? This is a footballer Rev, not a top politician who has to make sure every word and tense is correct, like what that George Bush would do. If he goes he goes - we'll get a few quid in no doubt and get someone else in. Rovers will go on. No stress. Let's see what pans out before totally lambasting him. Besides, if he does go, his work rate is rubbish, he provides no assists and he's always off side. If he stays, he's scored loads of goals, best striker we've had since Shearer (apparently). Either way we can't go wrong! -
[Archived] Vinjay's Latest Rant
bob fleming replied to Glenn's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
--> QUOTE(Ste B @ Apr 3 2007, 15:27 ) 503469[/snapback] Vinjay has pulled himself off. Sounds about right. -
Well said that man! We had two players score at the new Wembley on Saturday. Two lads who play for Blackburn Rovers! Anybody else's fans would be delighted. If Derbs and Bentley played for Spurs we'd be saying something along the lines of "Why don't have anyone coming through?", "How lucky are they to have two young English players playing for them?". But what do some people say? "He'll never be world class." If you're not happy now you never will be.

Is it just me who thinks the Arctic Monkeys are a great band on this web site? There has only been a few occasions when I've heard a band for the first time and gone "Bloody hell! Brilliant" In no particular order: 1. Motorhead - Ace of Spades - Track one - No Sleep Til Hammersmith - approx 1981 2. AC/DC - Let There Be Rock - from the album of the same name - aprrox 1981 - released a few years earlier 3. Happy Mondays - Wrote For Luck - the single - Approx 1989 - on the chart show I think 4. The Stone Roses - I am The Resurection - at Preston Guild Hall Foyet - Blimey! 1989 - Cheers John for dragging me along 5. The Arctic Monkeys - I Bet You.... etc - the other year, live on the tele somewhere or other 6. The Fall - Hit The North 7. The Smiths - How Soon Is Now? - On an away travel coach on the way to St James Park for a night match - about 1988? 8. Oasis - Supersonic - At home - John's fault again - believe the hype. (Fecking smart arse City fans). 9. The Wedding Present - My Favourite Dress - best heard at C'est la Vie cira 1953 - RIP 10. The Pogues - A Rainy Night In Soho. Well, it is the 14th of Feb isn't it? EDIT (How could I forget?! ) 11. Slayer. Reign In Blood. My Bedroom cira 1988. Oh 'eck! I put The Fall in just for AS. Everyone knows it was Frank Sidebottom who wrote that. The boy M E Smith just did a cover. Great songs. -

Nuff said. And you Al! To think later today we may have three players on the pitch who are actually Rovers fans. That's in the top flight an all. It's nigh on a miracle in this day and age. You can go on and on about who was right and who was wrong, the history and all the rest of it until you're blue in the face - truth is you and I don't know the full facts (and even if you do no one will believe you ). Just be happy we've got one of our own returning this afternoon. On his day he can play a bit an all! Go on Dunny!! -

No he's not. Lemmy once walked off due to the fact that Mark Lamarr is a complete ****. He should have known that really.
