Imaging thinking the phrase “black lives matter” would bring anything other than resentment or that justice is something to be meted out by social media and not the courts.

    All lives matter FFS.

Look around, the world is going to shit and people still think that these divisive ‘movements’ are a good thing. The “you can’t say that” generation are the reason we have Trump and Brexit.

Spoken like the true middle class white man you almost certainly are....

Of course all lives matter but do you not appreciated that, for significant periods of history, this smug cliché you trot out did not apply for many who suffered endemic and systemic persecution.

You're the kind of guy who trumpets the beauty of the status quo whilst sticking your fingers in your ears and clenching your eyes shut and muttering about 'the good old days'.

    Risible..

Mods - apologies bit I'm only responding to posts already on the message board.

Back to transfers - I'd probably be happy with Adrian and the young city lad, although one more defender would be good. After that we'd be good to go.

Mowbary has no idea how to spend money wisely. No contacts. Just goes for the safe option. Pathetic. Rovers desperately need a manager that can indicate in transfer dealings and tactics

We get it, you're Mr Angry. Sometimes I wonder if you and Mercer are brothers from another mother'...

  3. No, I think if it's proper 4-3-3 then you have to have three genuine midfielders in there. For instance, Liverpool might have Keita, Fabinho and Henderson. All mobile, get up and down the pitch to support  both the attack and the defence - they aren't just there to be defensive mids.

I'd be okay with that as it rules out  Evans and Smallwood and prefers the Travis type of midfielder.

Never mind the fees we payed for Armstrong, Brereton and probably now Gallagher too... Dominic Samuel cost more than our entire defence.

Denying there is something beyond Mowbray’s control going on is burying your head in the sand.

    Venkys won’t spend on defenders.

Says you - you can't state something as fact when it's actually just an opinion. Opinions are indeed like arseholes...

If we’re to play 5 at the back, we need to sign 3 CB’s, no question about it. Mulgrew ain’t up to it and Williams should be sold. If you’re operating 3 CB’s you need at least 5 in the squad you feel can play there, we have 1.

I’d be a lot less surprised to see us operate a 433 next season with Dack as one of the 3 as he mentioned England play it around April time if I remember? Just after we played Villa?

I did wonder about this myself. I do like a 4-3-3 but only when it's played in the way Liverpool do.

    Embarrassing how?

“Harrison needs to learn a bit of discipline about central midfield in my opinion. Normally I play Smallwood and Evans in the middle of the pitch because they stop the counter-attacks and play their position.

“Harrison is naturally a bundle of energy and runs everywhere, he’s out on the wing, he’s in the box, on the left wing, and the midfield is empty.

Essentially he leaves far too much space behind him because he lacks discipline in midfield. In the same article he praises Reed and says if he plays like he did (match just gone), no reason why he can't start.

Yeah and their ability in stopping the opposition's counter-attacks was there for all to see whilst we conceded all those goals last season.. you couldn't make it up.

  7. Thinking about some of the names being linked with us it is striking how many have played for us before (Hanley, Dann, Gallagher..)

It would be nice if the net was thrown out a bit wider. It's starting to feel like a strange footballing Groundhog day type approach to getting people in.

There's so much more out there than just guys who used to play for us.

I was always told you should never go back (granted it was in relation to not going back out with ex's) but I think there's a lot to be said for taking that same approach in terms of footballing philosophy.

  8. Just been reading the story on Raya to Brentford on the BBC site and was struck by the bit I've pasted below.

"Head Coach Thomas Frank told the club website: "He is a very good goalkeeper and fits the profile of player that we want at Brentford.

"He can play out from the back and is happy covering the space in behind, allowing us to play with a high line."

I've bolded the last sentence as I'm flummoxed. I never saw this Raya playing for us. Do you think their scouting department have dropped a bollock and got him mixed up with another keeper?

Great post but wear your tinhat the mowbary lover lynch brigade will be out for your blood

Yawn - you love to spout off at others yet can't help throwing this nonsense out on a regular basis. Boring...

We all know what you don't want but I never get much sense of anything positive from you.

Go on surprise us (and maybe yourself) - give us some names of players you'd like to see us sign but make sure you get your tin hat on...

Fully agree. Raya is Only 23 and has a LOT of experience already. Cant see us getting a better one. Poor decision and good luck to David best gk in Champ. The one that should go is Benson.

This, I think, is the conundrum with Raya:

    1. He came through the academy so, understandably, we all wanted him to succeed - he was one of 'ours'.

    2. He had a propensity to drop clangers so was unreliable.

    3. Most of us wanted him to make that No 1 spot his own for years to come.

    4. Because of No 2 he ultimately failed to achieve number 3.

    5. Now he's been sold we're anxious & worry he'll prove us wrong, but isn't that the nature of any transfer truth be told?

He might go on to have a stellar career but we can't wait another 2,3,4 years to find out. He could just has easily found his true level already.

There's a report from Brentford that both the manager and the goalkeeping coach wanted rid of Bentley because there was always a mistake in him. And if you don't value the opinion of that goalkeeping coach you need to check out his CV.

If that's their rationale for getting rid of Bentley and replacing him with Raya then I find that truly baffling. Raya epitomises that type of keeper.

Seems to me it's the right time for us to part ways - probably best for both sides to be honest.
