How anyone can have even an ounce of confidence in the new manager after such an appalling recruitment process is beyond me.
It's an utter disgrace.
Ultimately football is a results business.
Do well and the recruitment process is irrelevant, do poorly then of course the process will be picked apart.

Well if he does come it will be without Rosenior who will be announced as new Blackpool boss today.
That's the way to do it!
Not a dig at you personally Mercer but it does make me laugh how good we are on here at praising other teams for getting in someone completely green because it's done quickly but go apoplectic at the thought of us having Big Dunc for example.
It might not be the way to do it if Rosenior turns out to be a Brian Kidd. ...
I'm not an advocate for Ferguson either before anyone accuses me of that - don't want him here.

This is the first result when I looked...
Turned off after 15 seconds obviously.
Sounds like the rumour about Warne might be bollox but I enjoyed that link. He seems to have a dry sense of humour and anyone who likes dogs, particularly labradors, gets my vote....

Wouldn't have been my first choice for sure but I don't see it as any worse than the plethora of betting companies getting their grubby hands everywhere.

I’d say once, Lambert.
We had one guy out, and a new guy with a good reputation in, with staff, in days. Yes, it didn’t work out, but that’s football. However for a brief (very brief) period period we were behaving like a normal football club…
Then we had a summer just like this and a fella name Coyle rolled in.
Lambert - pah!
All these managers who've watched a Guardiola training session and are suddenly the next big thing...
Can't decide if he was a case of emperor's new clothes, fur coat no knickers or just full of shit.

Dunno why. Seems absolutely bang on to me.
If you look at the list of managers appointed under Venkys, they're a laughing stock.
Never happened before in my long history of following Rovers. Blue Blood has it right doesn't he?
The hyperbole remark was regarding Mowbray compared to most of the rest of the so-called 'managers'.
I'm glad he's gone, he ultimately outstayed his welcome but not sure you can disagree that he's left us in a better place than we were when he rocked up or you gonna dispute that too 'cos it fits the agenda?

I'm not sure in Rovers history we have ever had such a bad run of managers. Certainly not in my lifetime. Nor can I ever recall another club of similar size having such a run of poor managers, which I think speaks volumes.
See, I get a bit weary of this.
For all that Mowbray choked in the home straight and a parting of the ways was correct so that hopefully someone new could come in and take us further, you also can't argue that according to last seasons football league pyramid we ended up the 28th best team in the country which, given pre-season message board belief that relegation was coming, means we out performed expectations (I know as well as anyone we could and should have got in the play offs so no need for anyone to open that can of worms again).
Mowbray has many faults and was ultimately too limited and found wanting but your comments above do seem a little hyperbolic. Now Kean, Coyle etc. are an entirely different argument...
Now come on Venky's - surprise us with a new manager we can all get behind and look to the future with optimism.

Interesting we are now getting people saying that Carvalhal wasn't the right man for us because he's seemingly taking a well paid job in the UAE. Talk about him being a mercenary only motivated by money.
Farke was the manager of Krasnodar in Russia earlier this year....is that much different?
I'd say the Russian league is significantly differently from the UAE set-up.
Personally, I much prefer the idea of Farke to Carvalhal, the UAE job just confirms it for me.

As much as I hate Everton and Leeds, much better that Burnley come down, both for the obvious reason and the fact that I think they'll struggle next season and certainly won't be favourites to go straight back up.

If we credit the owners merely for not incurring 21 point deductions or simply because we remain in business, then our expectations of them must be lower than a snakes belly.
There are plenty of other basket club cases out there.
I'd also say the sight of Newcastle fans rubbing their hands together at the thought of their club spunking all that Saudi blood money turns my stomach. Fit and proper owners my arse.... now they are lower than a snakes belly.

Glen, I salute you ,in the above post you have absolutely nailed the absolute farce of the past twelve years of Venky ownership.People who say they have learned their lesson and have our best interest at heart blah blah and where would we be without them need to read your post and let it sink in,we are absolutely fucked while these clueless muppets continue to let the club crumble
You see, it's all relative though isn't it.
As much as I'd like shiny, caring & loaded new owners the grass isn't always greener - I'm sure Derby fans would love to be as fucked as we are at the moment....

Bielsa was fun while he lasted but will ultimately be the reason why Leeds were relegated if it does come to pass.
One to avoid for me.

It's the hope that kills you in the end.
From a season where there was a strong belief we we would really struggle we ended up defying expectations and, just for a while, it felt like we were headed back to the promised land.
Ultimately our long standing failings returned to put the kibosh on our season; death spirals, wafer thin squad, lack of goals, poor transfer windows, management errors etc. etc.
As I look back now and think about Mowbray's reign as a whole I can say that it seems to me unarguable that we're in a better place than when he arrived (this squad is far more exciting than the one he inherited)., Perversely, I'm also comfortable in saying I'm glad he's leaving as the time definitely feels right.
Of course, what happens post-Mowbray depends largely on who replaces him and, understandably, given previous appointments there's a lot of anxiety about this.
The squad is going to need a significant overhaul too; Nyambe, Lenihan, Johnson, Davenport & Rothwell all gone.. not to mention a set of loanee's, some who contributed much to the season, returning to their parent clubs (Van Hecke, Khedra, Poveda, Giles). Essentially that's almost half the staring eleven gone in one fell swoop.
Maybe I'm being naive in saying that I'd like to think Rovers remain an attractive proposition for the right manager. Maybe it ties in to not wanting one of the usual journeymen who seem to do the rounds everywhere (Steve Bruce being a typical example) but instead a young hungry manager who sees the opportunities as much as the challenges.
It's going to an interesting summer that's for sure.
-
Khedra does have the whiff of the headless chicken about him but he was a big miss in the run-in. He has real pace, which terrifies opponents and left us too one dimensional up front.

I'm done with Lenihan - I'm not convinced he knows what to do with a football other than lash it...

If we sell him to Bournemouth, only one person will have screwed us over, Tony Mowbray.
Less so if he goes to a PL team but I still wouldn't sell £2-£4m weighed up against a minimum £190M over 3 years (Inc parachute payments even if we came straight back down.
Have a word with yourself. I know you've backed yourself into a corner on this particular topic but Rothwell will deserve all the fans vitriol he gets if he does rock up at Bournemouth. The bloke clearly has no moral compass.

We cocked up initially by not attending to the players Contracts at the appropriate time, but, given our position in the League and what's at stake, the owners quite correctly imo decided not to compound the error and stipulated that no-one was leaving this month under any circumstances.
Mowbray completely undermined that stance with his interview. He's hung Rothwell out to dry and alienated the fan base against him. We don't even know Rothwell has refused to play, but Mowbray has created the impression that might be the case when it may not even have happened. It's not Rothwell's fault either if other Club's leave it late to make a bid for him. Mowbray could have stuck with the "he's injured" line and by Tuesday the whole thing would have been forgotten and the entire story would have been next week's chip paper.
If I was the other two I'd be fuming as well. They probably haven't followed through with any attempt to leave this month because they took the Club at their word that no-one would be allowed to leave this month. Now, as soon as there's a bit of interest in Rothwell, Mowbray performs a complete U turn, hangs the player out to dry and seems to be doing his best to go against the owners wishes and force the player out of the door. They'll be wondering why they didn't attempt to force the issue as well.
The Club should be sticking to the stance they've taken throughout the window of no sales. Not performing a last minute U turn when it's too late to bring suitable replacements in.
Of course! - it's all Mowbrays fault and JR is an innocent in all of this, why didn't I see that.
Rothwell is obviously a player who likes to run his contract down - he has form for it after all. Tony, devious fecker that he is, waits for Joe to say he wants to talk to other clubs and then takes that chance to throw him under the bus. Genius!
There's a job waiting for you in Boris Johnson's team - he's going to need someone to spin the rest of us a yarn soon once that report comes out.

and you get consistency with a good run of games and you aint worried that if you miss a track back the manager will haul you off and consign you to the bench for the next six games!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'll say again, IMO, Rothwell has been grossly mismanaged by Mowbray since the day he arrived from Oxford.
Typically hyperbole from you. Decent player but has always been inconsistent. This season things have come together for him and now he's on his way. Time to move on....

Good on the owners if that's their stance.
We aren't going to be able to adequately replace Rothwell at such short notice and we can't afford another Armstrong scenario where he isn't replaced.
If Rothwell isn't sold he'll have to continue to perform if he still wants a move in summer.
One good performance from him and all this furore will be next week's chip paper.
He's gone - get your head around it and move on.

IF it's happened, which I still doubt, then there'd be far more value for Rovers in making him put the cones out in training for 6 months than allowing him to move to Bournemouth.

Just my opinion, same as the ones you spout.
Probably is B/S about him wanting to leave but if that changes no club wants someone there whose head has been turned.
Don't see what the issue you've got with that to be honest.
-
If he's asked to leave - get rid and replace him but do it ASAP.
Don't won't him to go but also don't want anyone sucking the positive energy out of the place.

Most of what you say is technically correct of course but that is even more reason for ensuring that your prize assets are looked after at the appropriate time and not at the last minute when all the power is in the players' hands.
£30 m worth of talent potentially walking out for free in summer if we don't go up.
There's scores of clubs having the exact same issue so don't try and make it a unique example of bad management by us. Look at Chelsea and what about PSG and Mbappe??
There are many more examples out there too as you well know.
We've even picked up Markanday on the cheap for effectively the same reason...

Which utterly brilliant manager will we be delighted to welcome next?

That's an ignorant comment.
By your reckoning you'd have dismissed Graham Potter for his Swedish efforts and I reckon that would have been your loss...
