Can’t argue with that really. Phillips now officially ahead of Carter, which surprises me. Slight change of formation to be less attacking. I think we need a level of consistency with formations to break the inconsistent form.

I take your point but we couldn't have been any less attacking if we'd tried at Wigan.

We need to strengthen in the middle, take control there and we might be able see some tangible improvements.

The business this window has gone quite well - hopefully that’s still the case in 10 or so hours.

I’m loving the fact that we are getting business done on the quiet. How often over the last few years have we been linked to somebody then another team comes in and gazumps us?

I do wonder if those kicking off at GB for not doing any media bits over the last few weeks are starting to realise that he doesn’t seem so bad?

You'd like to think so. Some of the comments have been risible but I don't sense too much capacity for self-reflection in some of the more self-righteous types on here to be honest.

One guy (can't be bothered to search back to see who it was) even said 'I want Broughton out'. Pathetic really, it was always about waiting for the window to end before taking stock and unless things go catastrophic from here on in I'd suggest things are looking pretty good.

These might be famous last words I know but fingers crossed....

I know that's the rumoured price.

I'd be walking away like a shot. Ludicrous for someone who has already failed at this level, and the whole exercise is highly likely to be a colossal waste ot time if not money.

You do like to reach your assumptions quickly. Must be nice to always be so convinced of the efficacy of your beliefs.

It won't be ludricous if he has a storming season - at that point £5m might seem like a bargain, no? Ultimately it's too early to say isn't it?

I'd hazard a guess you also thought the people who lumped money on Brerton to score 20 goals last season was also ludricous given his record up to that point..........

It is true we still live more in hope that the shadows in the background are benevolent rather than dangerous. When you paint the picture like that, it does seem like a recurring pattern, and one which we could well be locked into permanently until the Venksters rock off.

So many things about our club remain opaque, and far too little is done to engage supporters - it is almost as if we are irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.

    Sad.

Personally, I wouldn't be getting too hung up on any pictures painted by JH Rover - guaranteed it won't end well.....

In the last 2 games we have not only lost but have been uncompetitive due to how short our squad has been, so 6 points surrendered. Very few if any Championship squads are stretched like ours, having to keep flogging a 17 year old who isn't ready.

No one has ever suggested signing players for the sake of it, for some reason you think the only alternative to what we have at the moment is to sign shite or pay stupid money.

Is there a period of time to which you suggest that people totally withhold opinion on him on an internet messageboard?

Opinions are fine but impulsive judgements have a habit of sometimes coming back to bite you on the arse...

Not sure that's true, they bid for Anel, we just couldn't afford his wages. And we've also signed two for cash. I'm sure there's money there, they just can't spend it cos the players they want can get better money elsewhere.

And Lambert's departure had nothing to do with transfer money available to him. He left because there was no structure in place above him and he was left being a spokesman for a dysfunctional club, just like he was at Villa under Lerner. That's from the horses mouth.

Whatever the reason was I'm glad he did go...he was fu**ing useless.

All fur coat no knickers that fella...

If they want PL football, why did they not strengthen in January, remove TM during the death spiralas would have happened anywhere else or hired a proven manager this season.

I think it's unarguable that Mowbray was allowed to outstay his welcome. He should have gone after the 2020-21 season when the signings he was allowed to make suggest that was a 'going for it' season and we all know how that turned out.

He actually confirmed who the player was whereas you was having everyone play a game of transfer guess who. If you had originally said I've heard van hecke could be off to Sunderland then we would have avoided all of this. Instead you wanted everyone to list off every player we have been linked with

You need to calm down a bit fella ...he shared a bit of info and you were all over him like a cheap suit.

I've no issue with people sharing stuff and no issue with them not revealing sources just because you had a paddy and stamped your feet like a petulant child.

You make a good point Jimmy and to be honest I have no idea, but when a transfer fee was involved he usually bought well, his record is pretty good, you missed Dack of your list who was brilliant from day one, Kaminski too, Ayala when he plays, but we'll never know.

If Venkys give JDT 8-10m to spend this season every Rovers fan should be up in arms, they're taking the piss out of us if they do that given where we found ourselves in January and plug was pulled.

Gav, I know you like to get up i arms but if JDT gets £8-10m to spend I won't be joining you.

Maybe, like most of us on here, they knew Mobray was going to blow it like the choker he was. If JDT does get some money that suggests to me they'll clearly have more confidence in him than they had for Mowbray as the dying embers of his reign fizzled out.
