  1. Parched peas, that was it, bloody hell. It's funny how something once regarded as delicious would probably make you run a mile these days. I used to love that fair turning up every year, living at the top of fernhurst street as a child looking down on all the lights, noise and screams from the rides was brill. Only to find later in life (wearing blue serge and a funny hat)that a lot of the blokes working on the rides were sex offenders
  2. Or hot peas in a sort of vinegar, presented in a white plastic cup, in a tent, next to the big wheel, at the fair, on ewood, circa 1975. Just wondered, anyone in their forties remember such a delicacy ? They had a sort of tent with benches, you had a scoop of peas then they would drop some vinegar on them. I think that year there was an accident, someone fell off the big wheel and got injured ??
  3. This board would enter a new dimension if Gordon's kids were called Kavita and Neeta !
  4. Make sure you phone ! I assumed like any ordinary customer that a pub with a reputation for good food would still be serving at a paltry 7pm. I should have insisted on a Waldorf Salad (for our older posters)
  5. Got to the Golden Lion around 7pm last night - "sorry we've stopped serving food" WTF ? Out of desperation ended up in Chorley - 'Parmesan and Pepper' bit rubbish really.
  6. Cheers for that, Golden Lion it is then. Sitting outside in the sun will be better for the Boatyard I suppose, but the grub sounds nicer at this one. Thanks Paul, Gord and MCM

  8. The Boatyard at Riley Green ? Taking the missus on Sunday.
  9. Find a site that has natural Real D with two dedicated lenses, not the crappy 'triple flash' you get at most multi's (the kind that will give you a headache). The look and feel of Avatar under Real D conditions is gorgeous, not the 2D 'flat' experience. Yes, the thing is too long and the plot is clunky but even Kermode said as he left the screening - "Wow"
  10. Christ on a bike that's terrible. If it wasn't for Gord's cameo ........
  11. Involved in building and opening new cinemas. Getting ready for the conversion to Sony 4K digital and Real D. The exclusive deal with one of the biggest brands on the planet is a real coup, the only 4K chain in the country.(8 times the normal pixellation you get in digital theatres).
  12. Met with Disney yesterday, this is their attempt to keep the Pirates franchise going (loveable rogue, damsel in distress etc). Oh, err, there's another Pirates in 2011.
  13. 'UP' is the best Pixar since the first Toy Story, absolutely brilliant.
  14. Apparently when Hartman came out with that line it was an ad lib, not even in the script, they had to stop filming as the place fell apart.
  15. QUOTE (Ste B @ Sep 8 2009, 19:28 ) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> They also were class. More of a Smiths / Fall man meself, but this track almost produces sex wee http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vewm5l-i-yw
  16. Almost on a par with these guys Burning looting, raping shooting
  17. I'm sure I read somewhere they are going to make a film starring that idiot who's hanging out of Jordan at the moment, the pikey that won the lottery, and most disgusting of all the murderer Winston Silcott. Can't we ditch 'Britain's got the funniest animals' and have a real 'Running Man' on Saturday night ?
  18. Visually stunning, never seen anything like it. Felt myself 'going with it' like when I first saw Star Wars all those years ago, hard to describe the feeling .......
  19. Got my tickets for James Cameron's 'Avatar' at the Printworks on Friday. All 15 minutes of it
