Posh owner was tweeting last night that WBA had been around Maddison all summer but not directly with the club they’d been contacting his agent directly so presume it was them that he referred to. On Chapman or Armstrong if I had to pick one it would be Chapman, £10m man in a year or two and can be picked up on the cheap although worry we have waited too long and the deal may be gone now. Mowbray said at the supporters evening that Armstrong had Championship experience but hadn’t done well when he had, I didn’t think he sounded keen on him.

This is appalling how can this be: Crystal Palace have been promoted from the third tier to fill one of the places, but rather than source another replacement, it has been confirmed the Super League and Championship will both go ahead with just 11 teams. The Championship will include the newly-formed Manchester United ladies team were admitted to the league as were Leicester City who finished second in Rovers’ division, while West Ham moved from the third tier to the Women’s Super League.

I think it’s poetic licence myself, we know Mowbray said he wants to organically grow the squad rather than bring in high earners and upset the balance but I don’t think that necessarily translates to him turning down for money for players

Remember Mowbray saying one problem was he had too many good options with regards to who to sign. Would be interesting to know if he still sees that as an issue

I had high hopes for another on that trip, Zac Aley, made the bench at old Trafford even, then faded into semi pro obscurity. I think the problem is these lads had a glimpse of it and then thought they had made it already.

The Maddison link (or lack of) is an interesting one, Mowbray could point out the likes of Dack, smashed it in league one and now worth 10x the outlay to try and get the owners to sanction a move like that. I think they could be won round with that sort of temptation. Not sure if he’s ever been on our radar mind you! The away kit is due to be revealed this week isn’t it? Would be nice to have a new exciting signing modelling it

I think signings like Davenport are the way forward for us, pick up the big boys scraps for pennies and hope they come good and earn us a few million down the line. Also take a punt on some young talents from lower down the leagues. Sad state of affairs but it’s where we are - if only Venkys and their puppet masters weren’t incompetent (or greedy in some cases) muppets we’d be looking at buying the 2018 version of Nathan Blake for £25 million or so now!

After the game Mowbray was speaking about Nuttall and said he would be an option for us if we don’t sign anyone else - hope he’s a little more confident than he sounds of bringing in new forwards
