And iv disagreed with you. A 3 or 4 day training camp somewhere in Lancashire will not make or break or season. Recruitment will define what we do this season, not a couple of days away having a few beers together in the evening. We have top class facilities at Brockhall players can work on their fitness at our training ground. We have a long list of priorities to be sorted out before the new season so again I will say I think it's nonsense to get worked up over us not having a get away together. That is the last I'm saying on this topic

The training camps are beneficial if going abroad and if trying to integrate a few signings into the squad, giving time to get to know each other etc. But in my opinion we have top class facilities at Brockhall, Barnsley don't have the facilities we have, the players have had only 3 weeks off, we have no new signings to integrate into the squad. We need new players and the manager's full concentration should be on that now,not going away for a few days
-
How on earth am I saying everything is hunky dory? In my first post on this topic I listed a raft of things that need sorting out. And as for your previous posts what under 23 players will be stepping up that haven't been in and around the first team already? As the ones who been in the manager's thoughts will have been training with the first team anyway. And pre season has changed wether you like it or not...having 7 week off compared to 3 is a big difference If you are going to quote my posts that's absolutely fine but don't start making shit up, like saying I said everything was hunky dory
-
And we are going to build a great team spirit by spending a few days away together? The players won't need the same level of fitness work as like I said they have been off 3 weeks not 7 weeks.Plenty of other clubs ain't going on training camps this season. Look mate if you want to believe not going on a training camp is going to have a detrimental effect on our season then fair enough it your opinion and your entitled to it. Just think that opinion is nonsense personally.
-
Yes when the players are on holiday for 7 weeks not 3 weeks? They will be training everyday. It might not be the same squad but we have no new faces added to it , I thought that point would have been obvious. My point is we have a whole list of things that need sorting before the season starts, just find it a bit pathetic people are moaning the players haven't been taken away for a few days when they have only had 3 week off,we ain't going to be doing the same intensive fitness work that we usually would in a pre season
-
And plenty of other teams haven't gone to a training camp. Not going on a 3 day jolly up isn't going to determine how we do this season. The players have had 3 week off not 7 week like usual and our first pre season match is on Saturday.
-
There is absolutely no need for them to go on a training camp. They have been off for 3 weeks. Yeah money is tight so why waste any of the little we have going on a jolly up for a few days down in Scotland? I mean maybe it would have been beneficial if we had made a few signings and getting them integrated into the squad, team spirit etc but we have the same squad as last season and they have had 3 weeks off. We play our first game on Saturday, they would have been at brockhall today doing tests etc, so ye wanted them to travel all the way to Scotland tomorrow, spend a couple of days there then return for a match on Saturday?Explain how in anyway that would be beneficial?
-
Christ they have only been off a few weeks what's the need for a training camp. Personally I want Mowbray here getting deals done not going away to Scotland so they can have a few beers together in the evening. Our first pre season game is on Saturday no need for them to be going away. Plenty of reasons to be concerned over next season this is not one of them

Munich, Juventus, Real Madrid, Barca have all romped league titles in recent years -
A training holiday is the least of our worries to be fair
-
Back today so should at the very least hear what is happening with Downing
-
The window closes a month after the season starts then we have to wait for them to bed in and learn " Mowbray's way" We need signings prior to the season starting
-
I don't always moan I comment on what I see.Plenty of times I have given Mowbray and the club praise. "judge the recruitment after the window is closed" you say this every window. We have no first team goalkeeper,no central defensive partner for Lenihan, no competent left back ,no striker apart from Armstrong as Mowbray plays Gallagher and Brereton out wide. We are a few week away from the start of the season the window might not shut till October the 10th but if we are waiting till then to address those key areas then we will be in for a struggle this season, no question.
-
You don't need to defend everything the club does. Mowbray has been here 3 seasons and has signed 1 player from abroad in Holtby, it's not good enough really.Covid will just be used as a coveniant excuse whilst other clubs bring in foreign players. Recruitment needs to be taken away from Mowbray,we need a DOF
-
Although we need new players in the door badly would be ridiculous if this guy is signed before we bring in a goalkeeper, centre back and left back
-
He spoke highly of his time at Swansea and enjoys working with their manager after having him at under age level for England. Iv seen him linked with premier league teams Crystal Palace and a couple of others, if on the off chance he does spend another year in the championship it will be with Swansea most likely
-
Robinson can leave for 1.5 million now Wigan have been relegated but it will be a premier league team he joins, sheff united, west brom and Fulham have agreed fees.
-
That wasn't what he was responding too he gave an example of a ball playing centre half who can also do his job defensively He is an unrealistic signing now but last season he was made available for a loan to a championship club . Think the point he was trying to make is there are young players at premier league clubs who could perform at a similar standard. I wouldn't have confidence that Mowbray could identify and sign them though

-
No he didn't put him forward as a loan signing. He was asked about ball playing centre halves in the championship. Chaddy is on twitter etc he would have seen White being linked with a multi million pound transfer It's Clarke who was on loan at Derby from Brighton he mentioned as a possible signing
-
He was asked to name a ball playing centre half in the championship last season and he did . He wasn't mentioning White as a potential signing
-
From what I read 25 is the norm
-
Agreed goalkeeper and defence priority but imo we can't go into the season relying on Evans to be fit for more than half of it
-
Yes but the likes of Preston can only dream of paying 7 and 5 Millon fees on individuals. Mowbray spent the money badly our squad should be in a lot better place with the money he has had. Money can not be used as an excuse as to why key areas in our squad are severely lacking in quality
