Course it is Gav. Mowbray could have brought a forward player in in January, instead he decided to use Ryan Giles a lwb as a rwf.Is that the owners fault too. Agreed with you many times we have shit owners difference is I don't use them as an excuse for some of Mowbrays shocking decisions. Oh and I do believe you would have been on here being critical of the owners if we had sold one of our better performers first half of last season to the team sitting in third while we were in second place
-
Yeah and if we had sold Rothwell and still fell away you would have been on here blasting the owners for cashing in on Rothwell to a direct rival in the promotion chase The biggest two reasons we fell away last season was the fitness of Brererton and Mowbray's stubbornness not because the owners refused to sell Rothwell
-
Who did we sell to fund Gallagher, Brererton , Armstrong and the multiple other players brought in in his reign. No mention of that by good old Tony. Some of the Armstrong money should have been reinvested but where did the money come from to sign players this summer? We were not the only club to cut back on spending money in the Championship after the pandemic.During his reign he had plenty to work with, more than a good few other clubs. Funny thing is we had our best season and highest finishing position under Mowbray after we sold Armstrong. You build a club up by knowing when to get rid of a player not offer contract after contract to the Bennet's and Evans etc.Going off his demeanor when some of those players left the club he was unhappy, he wanted new deals for them. We have shit owners but sick of it being used as an excuse. And that is what Mowbray is doing...it was the Coventry owners fault...it was the Celtic owners fault

Paul Warne being strongly linked with Derby. Was linked here be interesting to see how he does at a club with higher expectations than Rotherham if he does join Derby -

Bodo/Glint were very successful when Broughton was in situ .Should we give him credit for that? As you part blame him for Luton's relegations when he was in a job with them. We have a cat A academy.Us promoting players from it to the senior squad is nothing new.The current crop look the most exciting in years and personally I'd rather give the likes of Wharton game time than topping up Connor Hourihane's retirement fund. The guy has barely been in the door 5 minutes. The signings of Hyam and Szmodic(,even though I think he was the wrong signing) players coming into their primes suggest the plan isn't to just solely look to the Academy. I think what you are suggesting regarding Hirst and Vale is nonsense.Vale most likely won't even be making the bench when everyone is fit.Signing Hirst will impact Vale's involvement. -

He doesn't score goals with regularity.I wouldn't mind Dembele but not as a Brererton replacement -

He hasnt even had a fully fit squad to choose from this season . Kompany has multi million pound players on the bench whilst JDT had to put a 17 year old at centre half. Talk all summer he wanted two centre backs as soon as fitness and signings(which I'm sure he wanted to happen as quickly as we did) made we switched to 3 at the back. Of course it is simpler and quicker to implement your style if you have better tools and at the end of the day we are 2 points behind them and they haven't played brilliantly in every game either. 7th place and 15 points and a few decent performances within that is a good start if we are talking results If 3 at the back is how he wants to play it going forward and it was only personal stopping him then he has only had that option available to him a couple of games through no fault of his own . He has done some things iv been baffled with but still il give him a bit before I call him either way -

Burnley have 2 more points than us ,and we are 5 points off second place. Not saying some of his decisions have been questionable but he it needs time before he can be labelled either way.Pre Blackpool you were comparing him with Appleton and then we went out and schooled Appleton's side that night. His situation is not comparable with what Kompany has to work with at Burnley -

Kompany had many more millions and and players brought in asap.Plus after coming from the premier League they already had players better than ours. -
He did a decent job overall but he should have left/sacked two seasons ago.Too stubborn and extremely limited tactically. I don't put him on Kean level but when Im reading that he was advising our head of recruitment to leave the club to join Sunderland then imo he couldnt have had the clubs best interests at heart when he was here. He didn't put the club no 1 when he was here, giving all the senior ageing players after our promotion new contracts that there ability didn't merit. Coming out in the media with all the Rothwell stuff...should have been kept in house. Some of his comments openly admitting he would have signed a new contract here if offered in January but because no offer was forthcoming coming out crying in the media about it when the season was unfinished. The Rothwell saga, he was clearly aware that the owners said they didn't want to sell him but yet still chose to play it out in front of the cameras that should have been kept in house. Not signing a forward when he had the opportunity to do so, playing Ryan Giles rwf when he had the most assists first part of season playing LWB for Cardiff. Some of his decisions whilst here were absolutely crazy. If he had gone a couple of years ago I'd remember him a lot more fondly. He is a mediocre at best manager his career outside of Rovers proves this and he is certainly two faced
-
Ran the club down plenty of times.Made out our fan base are delusional and we are still living In 95. Worse still advising a colleague to leave us to join another club.Absolutely no excuse for that.Yet Mowbray was still wanting another contract at our little club. The man is two faced

I don't like his ego and like other journos he gets it wrong but like it or not he has broken a lot of transfers this summer throughout the football league.
-
Nixon reported yesterday that he is also close to signing a new contract. Most summer he been saying he would more than likely be heading to Spurs
-
Great news. Cmon Phillips lad follow your future England teammate and commit to the club

In general I agree with you that we should start selling players and reinvesting the money.Iv said that many times on here. I just disagree with Brererton this summer due to the poor offers and the lateness of them.Plus Dack aside who is back after 2 years injured we have no other goalscorers in the squad . Even if a target was identified no guarantee they would come in and take over the goal scoring mantle.Take the goals Brererton provides away and a relegation battle would have been on this season. No player should be allowed to go into their final year, if no contract signed at the very latest with 18 month on their deal then we should be looking to move them on and use the money for replacement. At the moment though the contract situation looks like it's being dealt with ,Travis Kaminski , Buckley and Gallagher on longish enough deals. With A Wharton set to follow. Morton was alright against Blackpool but has looked a little lost in the other matches and I did agree with you in the summer that we needed another midfielder with more experience after he was signed -

In fairness they lost to QPR and drew with Rotherham,Brum and Preston. If we perform as we did in the last game,Reading and Sheff United we will get a pasting. But we have had glimpses of being solid and decent in some of our performances. If S Wharton is back and Travis back in midfield then hopefully we look a bit more solid. If Sarr is left isolated v the full back then we will be in trouble but the same goes for most the division. We have had 9 days since the last match so hopefully we will see a much better performance tomorrow night. -
Because we are little old Blackburn Rovers and we should realise it isn't 95 anymore. And to think one poster on here was suggesting he should have a statue outside Ewood park.

I often see comparisons being made between ourselves and Middlesbrough on here and why we don't spend like they do. Middlesbrough is a working class area also. They are averaging gates of 26k this season ,11 or 12 thousand more than ourselves.Their cheapest adult season ticket is £560 and their highest is £700+.A match day ticket to watch them v Rotherham is £32. Don't get me wrong I think our pricing is wrong and more should be done to get fans into the ground but it shows what we are competing with and why the like of Boro can pay more wages than us. People will probably point me toward Preston ,Wigan and Bolton and how those clubs manage to get fans in the ground but all due respect they are not as active as us in the transfer market and don't run wage bills as big as ours, even after we cut ours drastically -

I very much doubt you have seen enough of Hirst to make such a statement. If he is just a stop gap to not block Vales pathway , then why did we try to buy him permanently at first? And now have an option to make it permanent at the end of the loan. Hirsts signing will be driven by Data and I see similarities with Brererton, an attacker who was extremely highly rated in his youth but has taken time to get to grips with men's football.A level below I know but he is off the back of an excellent season at Pompey and Leicester clearly think he is worth a bit of money. For me Hyam looks every bit as good as Lenihen and although I was a fan of Nyambe and wanted him to stay I do prefer Brittain and I would have said that even if asked last season when Brittain was still a Barnsley player. Szmodic looks an odd signing but not many in the game have a 100% record of not making mistakes in the transfer market. I think you are being harsh on Broughton. You say his philosophy but as stated by both him and JDT they are working to the "owners vision". At the end of the day cash is king and Broughton can not be blamed for our first choice targets going elsewhere when other clubs offer money that we can't match. I'm not saying Broughton will definitely be a success but I honestly don't think a proper judgement can be made after this window. He came late into the job, working with existing data and recruitment staff from the Mowbray era.He has appointed a new head of recruitment and a new European head scout is on the agenda. From day one you have had it in for him.You even tried pin Luton's relegations on him as one of the reasons you think he is substandard. True, I did say giving him kudos IF Wharton and Phillips sign long term. Again not saying he will be the answer, not saying he won't be shit but I do think statements like you are making with such certainty after such a short period of time is a bit ridiculous.
