Genuinely don't know how to feel about this draw.

We are at our lowest point. Could be an amazing victory or embarrassing defeat as they assert their current lofty position over us.

Lofty position as in Premier League ! Unlikely to be there this time 12 months hence....

I suspect both management teams dont want this game , who has the must too lose ?

We need to keep people like Mulgrew and Lenihan. When Newcastle dropped to the Championship they kept their better players and added to it, when Bolton dropped to League One they kept their better players as they knew they couldn't adequately replace them.

If this club is serious about getting promoted next season then the first thing it needs to do is convince those sort of players to endure a year of 3rd division football to try and get the club back up and repair the damage of last season.

Mowbray should be seeking assurances that not only will he be able to retain these players, but also that he will be able to sign the 5-6 needed to have a squad rather than first 11.

Mowbray shouldn't be offered a new deal at this stage, or certainly not an extended one. If they want to pay him more or change his job title to manager then fine. But he hasn't earned a longer deal yet. He should be told to get on with getting promoted and he will get improved longer terms when he delivers that.

Are they going to replace Paul Senior? If not then who runs transfers as Mowbray is only 'head coach'? Why was Senior appointed if 6 months later his position is redundant?

Senior was a plausible chancer , whose CV was not good ....Probably had an ulterior motive to become involved (Football agency )....

He could have been rumbled , more likely realised there was nothing left at the club ..

That song is the worst in football and sounds a bit daft when they sing it surrounded by their own empty seats lol

Memories of some good tussles with Villa and that Archibald game at Ewood really felt like the big time for a teenage fan although we'd no idea of the real big times to come. Still wouldn't swap those games for anything though.

The first time I saw Aston Villa play was a 3rd Division game in in 71/72 ,I think it was a draw 1-1 with Terry Garbett scoring for the Rovers ..

The 2nd time was a 5th Round FA cup tie in 1980 ....And the subsequent replay at Villa Park 4 days later ..

Happy Memories , will we play them again??

    Only if Venkys leave !

I think the bottom 3 now are the bottom 3 on the final day. Results, luck and tactics are all going against us it seems. We aren't playing like we are in cup finals that's for sure.

See you in league 1 everyone.

I would be surprised if any other permutations ....The club deserves to go down and has been to set up to fail , since the day these cretins rolled up ...

It will continue to fail until the day they leave ...

Anyone who thinks any different is deluded...

Senior could be the best Director of Football in the industry. He could have a raft of quality players lined up ready and willing to join Rovers. Unfortunately unless Venkys are prepared to change the habit of a lifetime and give him a proper budget and let him get on with it then we'll fail.

My gut feeling > Senior is a fraud a good man for Venkys to employ !

Senior will be smugger than smug awaiting the summer transfer window and kerching for the smug man

Senior will be public enemy number one in the not to distant future !

Good luck Mr Mowbrey , I really hope you do well....

Keep your friends close and your enemies closer , would be my advice !

  7. I'm not a defeatist and I'd kick my granny to win a game but with this lot at Ewood we're as good as dead. This league is far from over and a team in our position could easily pull clear. It won't be us though. We haven't got any of the ingredients required to pull clear unfortunately.

Very true ,the club is set up for relegation and has been for 6 years !

  8. Sean Curry now there was a turkey from what i remember, used to detest that guy. I vaguely remember going away to Bradford and seeing him put in what was probably the worst laziest performance i'd ever seen from a Rovers player up to that point. Even his own players were having a go at him.

Once scorrd the winner at Maine Road.....Poor player but better than Brown !

  9. Gestede was up there with Jim Fryatt for heading ability. Frank Lord, Les Chappell were terrible signings. They were at least a division above their ability levels. John Aston had been a decent player at Utd, in fact he was probably the man of the match in their European Cup Final win. He broke his leg shortly after that though and when he came to Rovers he was well past his best.

Gestede and Fryatt above Shearer for heading ability ?

Never in a million years ..

  10. If we do get the likely relegation, then we are likely to get some weasley words like, we will bounce back. No doubt the likes of Southampton, Norwich and Leicester will be used as examples of teams that fell to the level and are now in the premier league. It honestly would amaze me if we aren't in the fourth tier for the firs time in our history, if Venky's are still here in 3-4 years.

As sure as night follows day !

  11. I am aware our defence has been poor but still believe there are some very poor teans at this standard and a quality manager would keep us up. Coyle is getting off very lightly with minimum expectation due to enhanced focus on the owners and a lasting malaise amongst the fan base.

Spot on , we are between a rock and a hard place !
