  1. It's such a shame when it comes to that as in spells they can play some decent stuff. It just isn't suited to this squad if they want to do anything more than tread water in the lower half of the division.

Some time back now just as i predicted Mowbray changed tack and wrote off a top 6 challenge in favour of banging on about the kids and journeys etc. He's an old hand at shifting the goalposts he's had enough practice when he's turned wine into water before.

I don't like his brand of possession football it's too slow and predictable and it doesn't suit some of those trying to play it. Certainly not in the positions he puts them but he's been hiding behind the 'kids' line and having to rotate because of all the games for ages. He quite simply doesn't know the best 11 of his squad available to win games it's as simple as that.

So he throws as many factors into every equation as he can in an attempt to blind everyone. Got to say its still working on a lot of folk so i reckon the overall reaction might be quite even.

For me the football hasn't been that bad mostly but it just isn't effective and the proof, stats, facts or whatever anyone wants to call them are there for all to see. Results and league position.

Not really sure the fans opinion matters much at all at Ewood though once you get beyond what passes for a boardroom. I wonder if this is someone trying to gather enough evidence to present a case for change ?

OR if it's Waggots doing more like the opposite -- new contracts.  I hope they were recording the calls !

Aye, the mighty Brentford: please remind us Tony and Waggott, when's the last time they ever won owt?

.....oh, they've never won fuck all!....let's follow that shall we?

Meanwhile, 6 times FA Cup Winners, 2 times Football League Champions, Premier League Champions, League Cup Winners and several years spent in Europe (prior to 2011) look to follow the lead of a comparative bunch of no marks?

Get fecking real: WE ARE BLACKBURN ROVERS FC, small town but bloody big history!!...do one!

30k  Stadium already in place ..... tick

Ability to two thirds fill that stadium on average if product & price is right .....tick

Large training center, still better than most in this division....... tick

Academy site in and facilities & staff already producing champ standard kids........tick

Very wealthy owners who, push the right buttons, will back their managers ....... tick

    now

Lets look at what Brentford have already in place that we don't, what's missing off that list ?

I have it on good authority that it was this match that Mowbray saw Dolan as it was the youth cup,  and one of the scouts informed Mowbray he'd been released.by the nobbers a bit later on. Mowbray told them to sign him for the 23s but he impressed in pre season so got a chance.

We have to give him credit for that then to be fair.

Williams in contention in the next week to 10 days.

What is the story with Rovers medical department? Mowbray was saying he wouldn't play this season. Sounds like he could have played at least 6 games

Just complete bull covering the fact he was getting fit for his move here whilst we were struggling for defenders.

Must be 4 or 5 now under Mowbray who've been able to sort themselves out whilst still being paid by Rovers.

  5. Are they really still that numb in India to think he, his tactics, selections and signings haven't made a contribution to this dire season along with everything else ?

What is this 'understanding' that they have ?

And do they really swallow that selling half the training base and scaling down to the Brentford model is going to deliver top 6 ????

Or are they just not that bothered ?

It's not rubbish. Clubs do almost all of their initial work on computers. Do you know how many opposition & recruitment analysts we have at Rovers?

I know it doesn't make fook all difference on a match day.

Is there a whole dept allocated to study Boro players ?  Amazing how their stats must be better than many others. What were Ayala's stats for the previous 12 months i wonder.

  7. Manager wants a certain type to fit into his system, scouts get the nod and go scouting. Scouts who know how the managers team plays.

Now it seems they look at a spread sheet, A runs more than B but B comes on strong late on.  C hasn't the stamina of either but his pass completion is better than both.

Ok we'll try for C first then !

Might explain a lot of signing that seem scattergun and the unbalanced teams. Put your faith in the stats then if it doesn't work it isn't your fault. No wonder games and teams are largely full of robots these days. Fitter athletes than in the past mostly, better basic skills mostly but flair and character ?   Its all but gone.

Don't get me wrong some of it is needed and is good but as with everything tech related, it takes over.

There'll be no need for managers soon it'll just be stat sheet v stat sheet teams faxed down from the stats dept.  Cut out the middlemen.

  8. The lip service Kean played about the Champions League is just the same as Waggot and Mowbray are trotting out about the Brentford model.

Cannot for the life of me fathom why some still don't see through this shite.

Contract extensions are the aim in between all that, just safeguarding their own journey. Only journey this team is on is a circular one.

It's absolutely no way to run a business. Ridiculous that there is so much money in the game - yet very few clubs are able to turn a profit. No other industry would spend such a ridiculous amount on 'staff' wages.

Yet so many wealthy people and corporate structures are happy to do so as long as they can afford it.  So there has to be some kind of advantages in it alongside the ego trips etc.

Although there are still a few Simon Jordans who eventually find they can't.

  10. The expert in his wisdom knows he or whoever has made giant boo boo's investing so much in those two. Play one or the other up top every week and don't see any results then his game is up. The cat is well and truly out the bag.

Play them bit by bit, here there and everywhere and he drags it out and to the owners he's 'bringing them along' and integrating them into the Rovers way.  You know the same excuse he applies to everyone.

If in doubt, drag it out.

    Is his motto.

OK - genuine question - what other clubs are strategically owned to make money by losing money? If it works for V’s it could work for many others. I will stand corrected if you can tell me some examples without just entering into more speculation.

Also - Balaji stopped playing real life football manager years ago. We all know this. It wasn’t him who put Gallagher to right back, he doesn’t even know who Gallagher is. The only person ‘playing’ at football manager these days is TM. And he ain’t any good at it either.

Finally - I take the point about their accountants not being as dumb as them - but I don’t believe that people who were simple enough to be taken in by S***e K**n are listening to their accountants because they are wise enough to know good advice from bad advise. Venkys listen to charlatans and con-men, we know this for fact. You’re speculating that they are now listening to financial whizz kids - well they never did before.

I’m not meaning to be deliberately argumentative btw, I don’t normally think you’re wrong, in fact probably the opposite, but I don’t buy those arguments above at all.

They obviously didn't listen to the accountants for a long time but when it came around to suddenly getting 2 sets of auditors in something had changed.  And don't forget at one point there was a fire sale of around 30 million quids worth of players. At a time we made no cash buys for several years and they were dripping in a million or two not 10 or 20.

All that may have been to avoid FFP sanctions although we walked into embargo anyway. Chances are it was to stop the club going bust though.

Also it isn't set up to lose money to make money that's a bit of a nonsense suggestion. I'm just saying it is on the company books as an oversees 200 million quid costing 'asset. And note the word theoretically, money could move either way IF it was ever needed or made sense.  Same with any other subsidy they own within the corporation.  Although non of them will sell one item for 10 million or more in one go very often.

Plus there's the far fetched notion of the Premier league somewhere in there and all its riches. That could reset the balance on paper if not actually in the pocket.

So to me it's all about where it sits in the company books as to why it's allowed to continue. And that alone allows the kids to play with it i wouldn't be so sure Barry ignores it. More like he just doesn't take it as serious as he should and won't change his deluded notions.

But yes even they have to listen to the accountants and bankers every now and then. And i think we may be approaching that point in the cycle again....

  12. Why not splurge spare money you can afford on a 'real life' game of football manager though ?  They won't be the only rich people to do this the game is littered with them. They just don't normally stick it out this long once the novelty has worn off.

If it sits there in the companies portfolio though swallowing up 10/20 million of profits per year that surely helps against the tax bill.  Propping up a cash hungry arm of the conglomerate that sits in the books as a 200 million dollar oversees asset. That theoretically if you really needed to could send money back the other way it it ever made sense to do so.

Daft, distracted, busy and odd as they may be there team of accountants and financial whizz kids aren't.

  13. Yep they could pay for it all on a separate tab if it was so vitally important right at this moment. They won't even do that for the pitch though, this is obviously something that's been completely cooked up by the ex Coventry lot.

I hope the residents burn effigies of Waggot and Mowbray the pair of chancers.
