  1. I'm not watching the game but I'd guess the reason for that is that he hasn't got Travis doing all the work for him so he can't just get away with doing a few bits and bats here and there. With Leeds and the Dingles to come I feel we must get 3 points today or any realistic chance of top 6 will start disappearing into the ether. If it's still 0-0 on 60- 65 mins I hope Leonard is given a good half hour or so to try and make a difference rather than just 10 mins. Leonard for Cantwell?
  2. It's all about the 3 points. When have we ever been thrilling to watch?
  3. So do nearly every other keeper today tbf.
  4. On the line up, ACD in for Hedges so very happy with that. Hope Gueye can score with a clean strike or header to continue rebuilding his confidence.
  5. What rumours are those? The usual "John Eustace is amongst the front runners for (insert latest available Championship or bottom 6 Premier League job)" Or something with a bit more meat on it? Not that I'm being complacent about the possibility.
  6. I disagree but it all depends on how much you rate the player in question. I don't particularly rate Hyam and think he only looks any good with someone playing well alongside him such as Scott Wharton a couple of years ago or Batth (who's been a revelation). As such I wouldn't be pushing the boat out for him salary wise. Also (stating the bleeding obvious) you also have to factor in future resale value - if for example you think Dolan has more resale potential in future than Hyam then that would encourage you to give him a deal more on parity with the higher earners.
  7. Not that I agree with the strategy but If Allardyce was still our manager and was playing a full strength side today and resting players for one or both of the more difficult games I'm sure chaddy would be full square behind it.
  8. It's not wrong chaddy. It's just not your opinion. Most people don't agree with you on this. For me ALWAYS play your strongest side irrespective of the opposition or competition and then if necessary bring players off around the hour mark hopefully with the game already in the bag. I know a lot of people wouldn't agree with me on doing that for every competition but again that's a matter of opinion.
  9. Exactly. It's the same for everyone.
  10. But the rest of the team see a team mate who is on a (relatively) shit wage, who always puts in 110%, and who (probably) can't get get an increase to what most people in the industry would consider a fair salary for a player of his ability. And that is the way?
  11. Bizarrely a website called transfermkt.com estimate his value at E2.8m. I'd snap anyone's hand off for a third of that.
  12. Just had a look at King's stats. Surprisingly he's still only 32 and still playing. The ONLY place he's ever done anything however appears to be Bournemouth which would tend to confirm my feeling about him that he had the talent but not the application or character.
  13. I had to chuckle at that one. Ask a stupid question...... Bravo Sir. No offence Matty.
  14. You weirdly seem to be implying there's some correlation between the two.
  15. Put into perspective, the net revenue raised from selling those empty 4,500 seats would go a long way to covering the wages of one really good loan player or two middling ones. Good job we don't need the income because we're rolling in money then...........
  16. Allegedly Jack was fairly annoyed that such a ramshackle thing was erected after he donated the steel for free.
  17. That was entirely down to King imo. He stunk the place out in general then put a bit of effort in towards the end of his contract when he wanted to put himself in the shop window.
  18. It was more due to the fact that pre Eustace we were conceding around 3 goals per game with a player in the side who I kept reading was exceptionally good at sniffing out danger. I know it wasn't all his fault and also that a substantial proportion of those goals were due to Wahlstedt throwing the ball in the net. Nevertheless I didn't think anyone emerged with any credit last season apart from AW and SS. Let's see how we go on for the period Travis is missing.
  19. Wasn't aware of that. Guess you have to go with the manager's call on that given how well he's done up to press. Allegedly QPR and a Greek Club were interested in Sigurdsson in the summer.
  20. Our lot don't like doing any work.
  21. Errr.......yes because he scored 27 goals and singlehandedly kept us up. I wouldn't say anyone else apart from Wharton came out of last season with any credit whatsoever personally.
  22. Again a very well argued post but I really can't go with you on that last bit, I'd argue Hedges has never done anything of note in his entire career and it was fairly predictable he'd come here and carry on in exactly the same vein.
  23. You surely wouldn't want to drop Travis? Player of the season by a mile so far for me. Striker who knows where the net is has to be my priority. Followed by another wide man. Then a CB if the budget allows. Agree on Sigurdsson/Buckley/Hedges. Shame about Buckley. His career has fallen off a cliff.
