You couldn't make it up could you. Any half decent manager would probably say you choose your style of play then bring in the players to suit that system. At worst, choose a method of play that suits your permanent players and bring in loanees who can or are willing to play that way. The manager treating us all like idiots yet again and taking the **** out of the fans and this once proud Club. **** off Mowbray, why are you even still here anyway? Ah yes, waiting for a year's compo.

The bit at the end about the owners is rubbish imo. It's down to Waggott and Mowbray to identify our key assets and prioritise them accordingly and advise the owners what needs to be done as regards keeping them under contract. It's also down to them to manage the budget in such a way as to not fall foul of FFP, to trade around the periphery of the squad and not keep handing out ridiculous contracts to the likes of Downing, Graham, Bennett, Evans and not keep spanking dead money away on loan fees.

IF Armstrong goes then whoever comes in as a replacement, under no circumstances whatsoever should it be a loan imo. The money will just get swallowed up and he'll never be properly replaced.

So basically we've told them to get stuffed at the price they've come in at. Wouldn't call that "advanced" by any stretch of the imagination.

Trouble is, Mowbray isn't Howard Kendall. In fact that might just be the understatement of all time. He isn't even Don Mackay.

Aiming to be challenging for a top 6 spot after three season is hardly ambitious. You can be round about half way in the table and not without a chance of making a run at the play offs most of the season. If he'd said something like the aim is automatic promotion within 2-3 seasons then yes, that would have been an ambitious target but as others have said to the extent he has mentioned anything about the play offs, those words are belied by his actual actions and the conflicting narrative about "being on a journey" etc.

Great post which I agree with in principle. The problem is that the squad is now so thin that a few injuries will see us in real trouble. In an ideal world I think we'd need three decent experienced permanent heads to replace the six full time players who left and one or two quality youngsters on loan to replace the five outgoing loanees. Scrapping round at the last minute to do ALL our business on loan will take us nowhere but it seems to be the case that the owners have either voluntarily turned the taps off on Mowbray or there's no choice due to FFP and the gross mismanagement of the Club over the last 3 years by Waggott and Mowbray. Not only has Mowbray been allowed to pile players and loans on top of more players without ever keeping an eye on the FFP budget and offloading any dross or selling players to balance the books, they haven't prioritised our top assets either so there'll all probably end up walking out for free.

Which is great for the players involved, but no bloody good to us whatsoever. Also, would you say the respective stocks of Douglas, Trybull and Branthwaite rose as a result of their time here?

Wish they'd get a shift on, after various rumours I heard at the end of last season and again in the close season I bet my mate's son £20 that Mowbray wouldn't be here by the first day of the new season. Looks like I'll be paying out. On a more serious note of course it makes zero sense to wait and keep him and Waggott in situ all summer, put pressure on them by cutting off funding then sack them six games into the summer as that's putting this season in severe jeopardy. We'll see I suppose. The squad is now so weak I don't think they would be capable of pulling out a few results to save Mowbray's neck as they always seem to have managed to do in the past.
