  1. 1st para: That's what Mowbray should be told in no uncertain terms imo. 2nd para: I'd read it more that the Coventrio were clearing the decks at the Academy to try and make the case that a facility the same size isn't needed and to have another crack at selling it. If that's the case they mustn't be allowed to get away with it.
  2. Possibly. Dack only cost £1m though and was a lot more experienced than Pickering so maybe a better comparison.
  3. For £650k from a youngster from a lower Lower League Club I expect a bloody good player! A while ago now but King Kenny signed Alan Wright from Blackpool for £450k I think it was. I'm making no comment about Pickering as I haven't seen him play yet and I think he has the profile of exactly the type of player he should be signing. But equally you can't imo say don't expect much from a player because they only cost X or came from League 1 or 2. We need all our signings to be good ones otherwise it's money wasted no matter how little they cost.
  4. Would you give Mowbray any more money to spend?
  5. Dreadful buck passing effort from Mowbray there, insinuating the owners aren't backing him, he's been well backed and then some during his four and a bit seasons here and completely wasted that backing over the last three years. Looks like the owners have decided they're not going to pay him off as was rumoured at various points towards the end of last season and might have turned the taps off in an effort to force him out. They seemingly don't like criticism though as Paul Hunt would testify to. You'd like to think this veiled criticism might be the final push they need to finally give him a long overdue P45.
  6. Agreed, on Mowbray walking out, it was just the possible implication that he might have cause to do so for being hard done to I objected to. It's a mess of his own making!
  7. Whoa hang on, the situation an FFP black hole has emerged is entirely due to Mowbray constructing a vastly bloated squad, never selling anyone, giving excessively generous and lengthy contracts to players who needed replacing and spending dead money on loanees. If you're agreeing and saying it's a pity if he doesn't walk because he feels hard done to, I apologise.
  8. What, I'm a terrible manager who has completely spunked away your money over the last 3 seasons, please give me the sack?
  9. A week or two ago, people were suggesting we'd have to accept a bid in the order of £8m. Plenty of wiggle room left yet I'd have thought.
  10. Will try that thanks
  11. Yes. Current version of the site looks incredibly cheap and tacky and is awkward to navigate.
  12. Can barely get to anything for all the spam ads. Definitely not a change for the better.
  13. Can't understand why we're remotely interested in a player who played 44 times for a side that went down last reason. Shows our lack of ambition I guess.
  14. He wouldn't get it if he signed a deal on a lesser amount with us in the meantime though.
  15. Yep, sounds like the bottom of a pretty deep barrel being scraped to me. The opinion of the parent Club's fans is generally a fairly useful barometer. Can't see us being particularly any better off if Armstrong goes, the FFP gap is plugged and Mowbray is given free rein to bring in a load more dross to replace the dross we've managed to offload tbh. What a mess.
  16. Thanks, suspected that would be the case. As regards the players who are out of contract in 12 months, suspect the boat has already sailed on that one, thanks to the negligence and financial mismanagement of management and the incompetence of Mowbray. The only hope would probably be Mowbray leaving and a progressive new manager coming in the players fancy.
  17. What's the worst that can happen if we didn't sell Armstrong and were in breach of FFP? Barred from signing anyone for a period and a fine? Does anyone know what happens after that? Does the cycle automatically reset or is it a rolling cycle whereby we'd have to reduce losses further before we could sign anyone etc?
  18. Not sure they can now we have left the EU.
  19. Think we're well past a sensible deadline date Gav. Should have been at least £18m CASH with no 30 odd year old deadlegs requiring a 30k p.w. wage contribution being chucked in either. By a month to go before the start of the season at latest.
  20. They're getting a bit more sensible now. Shouldn't be any problem pushing them up to at least £18m bearing in mind we can't afford to lose him and it's most likely too late to replace him with anyone decent.
  21. Scraping up with him is better than going down without him as well.
  22. Think he enjoyed life off the pitch a little too much, was a regular in the Woodlands back in the day along with several others of the squad. Always seemed a very affable bloke indeed though. 63. Gulp. RIP.
  23. Self isolating due to Covid regulations allegedly but you're right, it doesn't prevent him from giving an interview or two.
  24. Plus Trybull and Douglas. Eleven out I think. No loss at all with most of them but in an ideal world I'd say we'd need three quality permanent additions in and a couple of decent loans. And that's without losing Armstrong.
  25. If the omission is that glaringly obvious that would suggest to me the keeper but I'm assuming it's not that as at this stage that would be desperate even by our standards and there hasn't even been the slightest suggestion of any interest in him. The other players whose omission would be particularly noticeable would I suggest be the obvious one (Armstrong) Lenihan or Nyambe. We'll soon see I guess. Whoever it is I doubt it will be good news.
