  1. I'm not bothered about Graham and Downing going either. In that respect being especially skint might actually have done us a favour as in more normal circumstances Tone would no doubt have been busting a gut to give them new deals
  2. So sorry if I've missed it but has Kaminsky been confirmed yet?
  3. Yep, better leave him in the wilderness indefinitely to learn how to play "the Rovers way" and forget about him until he's at least 27. Mowbray will be particularly peeved that Chapman impressed as well. That'll be the last we see of him until Christmas!.
  4. Shouldn't be a need for any ( hopefully) if we make 2-3 modest low cost acquisitions like this proposed keeper given we'e shed seven players off the wage bill from last season.
  5. I don't think they'd be aware of the state of the outside of the ground just now, no. I see no reason why they'd be happy with it though. Responsibility for that has to lie with those on the ground so to speak at Ewood. Have they been working from home or the stadium?
  6. The neglect of Eeood Park isn't really a new issue, John William's used to comment quite frequently ten years or more ago at the Fans Forum that ground maintenance issues had been deliberately overlooked in an attempt to maximise the playing budget. This seems to be taking it to a whole new level. though.Shocking really when things like the weeds could be so quickly and cheaply sorted out. Great idea to send the pictures to the owners who Iimagine would be appalled.
  7. We don't have a senior keeper on the books and now might be signing one for 500k euros 1864! Hardly that earth shattering in normal circumstances but we're coming at it from such a desperate position we're all like a dying man in the desert stumbling upon an oasis. Might be a bargain though like I've said.
  8. It's always the same, not one person mentions it would be a good idea to sign a particular player then someone gets linked out of the blue and all of a sudden everyone suddenly becomes an authority on said player who suddenly morphs into the greatest player of all time in his particular position! ? It's only natural that people will get excited, On an objective level I can't say too much about this bloke until I've seen him play as I'd never heard of him until a few hours ago. Would I have preferred someone with Championship experience? Possibly. Would that have been a lot more expensive? Probably. Could he be a bargain? Maybe. On the face of it, it does sound promising and I think if there's one position on the pitch you don't want a loanee it's keeper their abilities notwithstanding.
  9. Shame, in your rush to be an arse you'll have missed my considered views on the proposed deal and my cautious optimism further down!
  10. Think some of the euphoria surrounding this potential Kaminski deal is a bit OTT, at this stage I think we would all be happy with someone with a pulse by this stage, and we still have to agree personal terms. That said, he's an ideal age, permanent and anyone coming in has the considerable advantage that they aren't bloody Walton and are going to appear like Gordon Banks in comparison as long as they perform to a reasonable standard. The bits that caught my eye about the article were that he is in the last year of his contract and had been dropped following a series of mistakes so there is a possibility that we might be picking up a Raya style bargain with his contract situation and with him having fallen out of favour with management etc Overall then reasonably promising - if it goes through. Not sure a fee initially reported at 500 k euros is evidence of a particularly large transfer budget however, no-one has ever said there's no money whatsoever as far as I can recall, just that money is exceptionally tight. We should also have earned ourselves a bit of wiggle room by seven players having gone out so it may simply be a case that the playing budget is similar to or slightly reduced from last season when we didn't spend anything on teansfer fees but since then we've shed a few off the wage bill.
  11. Relegation six pointers more like.
  12. Don't know if it's just me or not but that explanation still doesn't make any sense to me whatsoever unless they're worth way way more than £2 billion, I'd suggest that a loss making liability that on paper formed as much as 10% of your net worth would be a massive concern. If it formed a far smaller percentage of your business empire, maybe not quite so much.
  13. But no offer which would tend to indicate he's not within our 'budget" whatever it may be. We could 'enquire" about Lionel Messi but I doubt we'd get very far! If we had an adequate budget to land the players we wanted you'd imagine the first time we'd be hearing about it would be after they'd signed.
  14. It's irrelevant whether the cash would still have been here now or not, no-one could have predicted Covid a year ago and the money WAS given to him, and if you're being very charitable, it could have been spent better. I'd also disagree you'd be asking him to make four great signings in a row, arguably they're his ONLY two permanent signings and the rest have been duds and Armstrong was 2 years ago now.
  15. So your argument is: The worse Mowbray does, the more indispensable he becomes! Love it! ?
  16. Nice lad Paul, used to run the Royal Oak on Pleckgate Rd for the guy who also has the Hare and Hounds at Lammack and Cherry Tree Cricket Club.
  17. So having narrowly missed out on the play offs they're "bottle merchants" whereas we're doing just fine stagnating in mid table snack bang middle of the road to nowhere? End of term report for the Board's chief wind up merchant: "MP is prolific in his output but is running out of ideas and originality. Must try harder!"
  18. Mercer beat me to it with his original response but surely there's a difference between relatively low cost signings who don't quite get you over the line and signings in the £5-£7m price range who completely tank. For what it's worth, I still have reasonably high hopes for Brereton (albeit probably under a different manager) but Gallagher is a write off imo. And what makes it all the more galling is that we already knew there was no way in the world he was a £5m player from his previous time here!
  19. "Jack, I know we paid Ben for 6 months to use our facilities, and I know we've been paying Richie and Sam to do nothing for twelve months already, but how about giving them another month?" ?
  20. Sorry, completely disagree. imo he's trying to completely reset expectations to buy himself more time.
  21. Great question. Given we survived last season with a keeper who stopped less shots than my "face in the crowd" would have done, I'd be more inclined to keep the 5 "crown jewels" and take a gamble on either Fisher or Hilton coming up trumps. Let's face it, they can't do much worse than Walton. However I don't think we'll have a decent season unless we invest in a decent keeper AND keep the crown jewels. *** I'd attempt to plug the gaps using the youngsters such as Wharton elsewhere I think. *** not confident either will happen.
  22. I was actually thinking that with the exception of Bradley "last pay day" Johnson that first X1 didn't look too bad either but even so, what use is that with us approaching £200m in debt?
  23. I was hoping to make it down to the ground today but sadly couldn't manage it. God Bless Stuart. You'd kill to have a player like him in our midfield alongside a ball winner like Travis at the moment.
  24. To be fair, given the effect of FFP , what did he expect, even pre Covid? You can't keep spending money on transfers, loan fees and wages like water, and handing out new deals to ageing underperforming players indefinitely with nothing coming back in! To the extent we're in a mess as regards the squad it's entirely of the manager's own making.
