Offside. Tried looking at it on the replay and it's not in line so difficult to tell When he headed the ball he could have been marginally off but don't know where he was stood when the free kick was played in.
-
Being better than Evans is not a difficult task! Tbf to Smallwood, ability aside I've rarely found his attitude to be in question. If you wanted someone to roll their sleeves up and get stuck in when things weren't going well, I'd take him over most of the squad.
-
To be fair to Smallwood that is a bit of a kick in the knackers from Mowbray. Maybe he's trying to provoke him into going on loan to a League 1 Club. Classier ways of doing it though. Just sub him at half time.
-
Disappointing that the fringe players don't seem to be knocking the door down to be selected but the eleven changes are indicative of the problem that has been evident ever since we were promoted, twelve months on and TM still doesn't have a Scooby what his best side is.
-
His mate Waggott. "I'll scratch your back by getting you the job, you scratch mine".

Don't be so negative 1864 chill, have a beer, take a pill as you keep telling us! Don't say I didn't warn you, perhaps these guys who "used" to be educated know a thing or two after all ! ?

No it isn't. Whose fault is that? The manager's. He's had 3 windows to start upgrading the team and make us competitive at the top end but has shamefully neglected to do it, because for some reason he is obsessed with looking after the players who were here when he got here and any new players coming in only tend to come in round the periphery or are younger players who can be tucked away under the heading of "one's for the future."
-
Yet.

Hope he scores 5 otherwise he'll be dropped never to be seen again.

We've had numerous spells pre and post Uncle Jack when we've been at a financial disadvantage but have still performed relatively well due to having a good manager and casting our net wide and operating shrewdly and effectively in the transfer market. That isn't happening at the moment imo, players are being played out of position, favouritism has been shown to certain players whilst others haven't been given a fair crack of the whip, and the last three transfer windows have been an absolute shambles. As for finishing top 6, I'm not sure what is wrong or unrealistic in aiming for that, you don't actually have to have that great a season to finish 6th, you can finish 20 points behind the automatic promotion places and still sneak into the play offs. Aiming for a marginal improvement on 15th is an absolute nonsense for me.
-
Hypothetically If we offered him enough money, of course he'd come. His stock has fallen dramatically recently so it's not like he has the pick of all the top jobs these days.
-
For me it became obvious he wasn't the man to take us forward last season and he should have been relieved of his duties around February or March. There then followed an absolutely abysmal transfer window so the only thing that would surprise me is that if anyone was surprised by our poor start. Nevertheless: having not got rid of him last season and given him this window I'd concede you need to give him ten matches or so to try and turn things round. Out of interest, where would you stand if we're on two or three points after ten games and five points adrift at the bottom of the table?
-
He hasn't done well for the last 10 months or so since Preston away. He's taking us down I'm afraid. Shades of Hodgson where he was poor in the preceding season and it continued into the following season culminating in his dismissal.
-
Pushed the ball back out into the middle of the box allowing the forward a tap in. Should always push it wide. We've signed a right couple of duck eggs in Walton and Gallagher. Really poor 2nd half. Wonder when our first shot on target this season will be?
-
Do we have an option to send Walton back? He's absolutely useless.
-
Graham on for Travis now - weird. Of course it looks like a masterstroke if it comes off. Poor 2nd half from us. Gallagher and Armstrong lucky to be still on the pitch imo.
-
Played much better than last week but ruined half an hour's good work by being unprofessional and not closing Cairney down for the goal. On the downside once again we have yet to work the opposition keeper. Still think Gallagher is terrible and imo Armstrong has been poor on the right wing given the time and opportunities he's had. Dack has looked a lot keener and looks our main chance of something happening.
-
So do I. With the exception of Dack and Travis the "first" team looks awful.

Summer Transfer Window 2019

You may not agree but I don't think the owners have done anything at all wrong since we were relegated last time round. In fact (tin hat on) you might say they've acted impeccably since then continuing to pump money in to cover losses and providing the manager with a generous budget. Mowbray has just wasted it on rubbish or players he won't subsequently play. Don't like this Mowbray/Waggott/Venus love triangle though with the former first team assistant coach apparently now handling transfer negotiations. -

Probably not, I wouldn't do that anyway. The option would be simply not to bother attending certain games as another poster pointed out. -

You can be as facetious as you like yet no-one came into replace Mulgrew therefore that does not suggest the move was long in the planning. -

Wow, just wow. Now the window has slammed shut are we finally allowed to say what an abomination it was? Or will someone chirp up and say "Don't be daft, you can't judge it until we see who he brings in from the our of contract market.?" I've had to give myself 24 hours to calm down a bit before commenting fully on the window, if I think about it too much it too much it'll send my blood pressure rocketing and make me ill. For me Waggott should be packing his bags today closely followed by Mowbray if as I expect we are rooted to the bottom of the table after ten games or so. So the day before the window closes, everyone was more or less unanimous that unless we got at least one experienced CB in, then it would have been a terrible window and TM would have failed. So what happens? No CB's in and two out! I'd say there's nothing wrong with letting Mulgrew go per se, but only as a planned exercise once you have secured a better replacement. Not as a result of a row and a hissy fit barely an hour before the window shuts! The fact that the two young lads had already both been foolishly allowed to go out on loan, also gravitated against Mulgrew leaving without a replacement. As stupid as Mowbray has made himself look this window, I can't believe even he intended to leave us with one CB and a utility lad from City. So where has this shambles off a window left us? Attack - well stocked in terms of numbers but arguably having spent 15m over the last 12 months there still isn't a decent striker between them! I think Graham is past it and Gallagher is fairly useless frankly. Armstrong has proved very hit and miss at this level and would probably benefit from playing down the middle. I think Brereton could be the best of them but for some unknown reason the manager won't give him a proper chance in the correct position. I think yet again we'll be hugely reliant on Dack rediscovering his mojo and scoring enough goals to keep us afloat. Midfield: Arguably only one decent CM in Travis. Johnson may be ok for a season or two but for me needs to get a lot fitter, stop playing within himself and start taking games by the scruff of the neck. Evans and Smallwood still in the building clogging up the wage bill and blocking the youngsters. The promising Rothwell and Chapman can hardly get a game. Defence: Where to start here? We've let 4 CB's go out this summer and arguably we've only brought in 2 full backs. In the eyes of the manager Bennett also seemingly has to be shoehorned into the side in front of arguably our most promising young player (at least before Mowbray started messing him about and dropping him) Nyambe. An absolute disgrace. Keeper: On the evidence of Saturday, Looks a down grade on Raya and isn't even our player. In nearly 50 years of watching us, don't think I can recall us going into a season with a loanee as our first choice keeper. Given all of the above, 69 goals conceded might be looking good come the end of this season. I've rarely been as upset with what's going on on and off the pitch as I am at present. If Mowbray were to stay all season with this squad and play all his usual favourites I honestly think we'd struggle to get 30 points. Hopefully it would never come to that as he'd be quickly replaced if we get off to a shocker but who knows given the manager more or less appointed his boss? Rant over, blood pressure through roof. -
Getting his excuses in early I see. I'm going down to this to see a mate who lives near London and have a good night out. After last Saturday I've mentally written off the game and am expecting an unmitigated disaster. Anything else will be a bonus.

Summer Transfer Window 2019

Think we have to hope it does now, it would be awkward beyond belief if having basically bombed him out of the Club, the player is forced to return until January. We'd almost have to pay him to sit at home. Amateur hour doesn't even begin to describe it.
