I'm still trying to understand how we routinely lose £20m when the wage bill has been absolutely obliterated.

No wonder they're being investigated for tax fraud / evasion.

Because our income still doesn't get close to covering wages let alone other overheads. I'm sure someone will have the figure but last time was it not a along the lines of 120+% wage to income ratio?

We’re going to spend every penny we do have on loan fees. What happens in summer when we lose 6 loans, Gallagher, Dolan and Travis doesn’t want to come back?

Gally and Dolan stay if the club wants them to. Travis returns whether he likes it or not, unless as with any player, an offer is received which is accepted.

  3. All those asking for a replacement for Wharton - where would they fit in? To me, we always play 3 in central mid. Szmodics has the attacking role nailed on, Moran is better in the centre as a back up. Holding is Tronstad and probably Garrett as back up. That leaves one role, which JRC was great in prior to his injury. We then gave Ayari backing up who apparently can play all 3 roles.

Yes injuries will occur and have. But who would be dropped? Perhaps JRC to rwb/RB but then Brittain is out - and he had a great link up with JRC. Then there's also Buckley to return

As much as Wharton going is sad, replacing him isn't the priority to me - other positions are higher priority. The bigger issue is if we don't spend a reasonable (10m+) of what was brought in as that's what the model needs to be. It evidently won't be in this window but the purse strings must be loosened in the summer or there will be no defending the approach of the club.

whatever happened to the claim by swag and broughtonthat rovers could spend whatever they raised in the transfer market???more shite from the shiteshow

Wasn't that in the summer, prior to the budget reduction? In which case it would be reasonable to expect we should be able to spend a percentage of what gets brought in. But even that doesn't seem to be happening.

Rak-Sakyi is becoming the new Luca Toni. I think that's three windows now he's been speculated as a potential incoming.

Funny you mention him. Just seen him having a medical at Brockhall (Toni that is, not a young attacker).

More seriously if we sign McGuire and the Liverpool defender, surely we can rule out further loans due to match day squad limits.

With McGuire, it could come down to timing of funds too. They will obviously need money up front to pay for him. Without being privy to exactly how these things work, if the Wharton money doesn't arrive in time, they wouldn't be able to proceed even if a deal could be rectified."

Does Jackson really believe his own bullshit?

I wouldn't say it's bs, but it it stating the obvious. If we're reliant on funds from Palace to sign someone, and they don't complete the transfer and send money until 1050pm, we've no money to spend. Or certainly not the funds for a multi million pound transfer.

Until he's officially signed elsewhere or the deadline has shut, I'm not taking that as evidence. Things change quickly. But worrying, most definitely.

Even when combined with football media reporters stating we've pulled the deal? On that logic, you can't have believed we were in for a deal based on the same reporters and the relative having followed half a dozen Rovers accounts?

Could be a total misunderstanding. Let's see what today brings

    Along these lines?

GB to Vs: if we sell Wharton with 18m up front going to 22m, can we spend 10m?

    V: yes

GB: ok, so we've signed the experienced defender we wanted on a free. We've negotiated £3m on a striker and he's flying over. Also some enquiries for defenders. Still all good?

V: oh, we meant you could spend 10m on running the club generally. You don't need to pay for players, you showed that earlier. Raul and Ronaldinho aren't playing for anyone, have you tried them?

  9. The only way I can see this being a miscommunication is if the Wharton transfer took longer than anticipated to complete and we told Orlando we couldnt complete the transfer at that time. However what is more concerning is the report that all transfers with fees are off, particularly as the Wharton transfer seems complete. What a sh*t show. If Venkys have changed it so we can't spend any of the Wharton funds, theres no model to work with.

Hope for the player's sake a transfer is completed, be it with us or another championship club, and Orlando get what was agreed with us.

So now the American lad deal is back on according to some reports.

Rovers relaying a blip in the Adam deal (before it was resolved and the deal completed) to keep Orlando in the loop became blown up as a total breakdown according to the same reports.

Hoping this is correct for many reasons, where have you seen the reports?

According to TV 2's information, Blackburn Rovers is the club that has thrown itself into a late coup attempt by David Brekalo (25) with a few hours left until the deadline. @kflygind was first to break the news of the Championship bid. Now Viking has far better cards in hand in the negotiations.

How peculiar. I saw a post on twitter from an Orlando fan account stating they were bidding 2m+ for this guy - surely we're not signing Orlando's striker and the player they're targeting?!

I was kinda hoping that for probably the last time in my life Rovers had signed someone older than me. Checks Wikipedia and I'm three days older than McFadzean 😪

Officially older than all the players now!

We want strikers, experience, and a signing that makes us feel younger. I have the answer.
