  1. If Wharton goes to Palace, this will be the first, and only test required of the "new system"/project (Whatever we're calling it).

The idea of this new regime is surely to sell players and reinvest a chunk of that money into better players, save some money back for running costs sure, but a chunk should be reinvested.

If we sell him and sign a couple of players for £100k from league 2, the protest thread need some serious hammer as they will be well and truly trying to pull the wool over our eyes.

I've been dreading a big sale like this (should it happen) as we'll know once and for all what the priority for the owners is. Pocketing cash or trying to improve Blackburn Rovers.

History tells us it's likely to be pocketing the cash.

£15 million isn't enough imo. If you look at recent championship transfers to premier league teams.

    Alex Scott - 23m

    Tyler Adams - 27m

    Keane Lewis Potter - 19m

I suspect the club would prefer a lesser upfront fee, with the deal stacked in future add ons/sell on clauses. We get a good chunk now but then a few additional payments over the next few years to aid with future cashflow etc.

The fee is irrelevant to us. At most clubs, we might get a replacement and also get in a striker and a CB for say £3m each. Here, we won't, it will vanish.

Yeah I know they won't reinvest the money, just curious as to how much less our incompetent owners would have to put in next time.

    Gallagher definitely moving?

If there is a deal to be done, I'd say he'll be off. As said by others previously, Rovers will want his wages off the books asap. JDT said in an interview recently that "he could not believe the club would weaken the squad further by selling him" so it looks to be out of his hands.

They might keep him till the summer as our championship status is under severe threat but there will be no new contract heading his way, I wouldn't think.

Yellow and black scarves would do for me

Was just about to post similar. Although it's a copy of what Man Utd did/are doing, different coloured scarves are a great idea as they:

    Are affordable to most

    Require minimal effort

    Visual

    Encourages attendance to display

Doesn't impact on anyone else (banners that block views etc)

Can be worn/brought in any weather (t-shirts are hidden under coats/jumpers etc.

Definitely a good way forward I'd say, coupled with a big push on social media to get the message out. Should be a great idea. (Love the yellow and black colours too)

  6. Former Dingle Joey Barton, who has been on a one man mission to become the most controversial person on Twitter has now dragged Rovers into the mix, after the Rovers admin (perhaps regrettably so now) commented on one of Barton's tweets.

    How it started:

    And it continues:

    Apologies for the tweet spam.

    Time to move on here.

So why about my post. It was done as example how we could spend money in this window. That's my point.

The original point was that I said we wouldn't sign 4-5 players in January and you said we could and referred back to your post from yesterday.

Your post, is pure speculation and there is nothing to suggest we could receive money now, spend all said money on transfers and have money in the wage budget to pay them.

It also would mean completing deals for 4/5 players, which we are generally slow at doing because it needs sign off from India.

It is, undeniably, unlikely that we will make 4/5 signings before the window closes. We aren't playing footy manager here and if it was as easy as you made out in your post yesterday, then why hasn't the club done it.

Let's see in 10 days time.

Undav changed his mind. Can't fault us for that. O'Brien we discussed to death no need to do so again

Think they got enough to do before the deadline without meeting me

Explained last night how we could spend in this window. Did you miss that?

I saw the post but everything in it is pure speculation, if it was that easy to get that money and sign those players (or similar), why have we not done it?

You also assumed we spend all of the £5m, which we wouldn't.

At least 4 or 5 players needed. 2 centre backs, right winger and striker. Plus another if we sell or loan players like Gallagher and Markanday

How you say not a chance?

Because we have no money, the wage budget is maxed out (or so we are told), we are notoriously slow/poor at getting deals over the line, the window is only open for a few more days, January is historically a poor window to do business.

    Did I miss anything?

I genuinely think we're fucked if we don't sign another 4-5 good players.

Pickering out isn't a big loss as I think he's our biggest liability, so should be relatively easy to upgrade on him.

Not a chance we're signing 4-5 players. Another 1 at best is all that will come through the door.

This just sums up the idiocy of a handful on their forum.

For the Wrexham Blackburn Rovers crowd obsessed looking in i think if you apply some common sense and look at other 2nd tier clubs in the 80's you'll find most had very modest/crap gates.  Some will really surprise you but take a breath and remember the Jack Walker era here coincided with the dawn of the Premier league for which we were a founder member.

That saw a boost in crowds and stadium redevelopment at many clubs all on the back of Englands success in Italia 90 and SKY Sports becoming a big thing all of which boosted national interest in the game.

As for the Burnley comment, again absolute nonsense just look at their crowds pre Prem and look at them in the 80's. You'll not find a lot in history of them having bigger gates than Rovers unless they were in the top league and we weren't. Such a thick lazy comment to throw around.

For the comparisons from Saturday you'll also find QPR were in a local game to Millwall hence a bigger crowd and Plymouth are at their highest point in a decade or more. Stoke etc have always had bigger crowds from being situated in a place twice the size it's not rocket science.

My god so much for the romance of the cup i hope we pound this lot and the home fans that do turn up do what we've done a hundred times before and laugh the one off big day out day trippers out of the Cup and out of town.

    Rovers 4   Wrexham  2

Most fans on social media, especially Twitter, seem to think football started about 5 years ago. Our history in general on these types of platforms seems to have been erased almost entirely.

  12. We will probably win this purely by virtue of being able to outscore them. They'll be up for this, as you'd expect from lower league opposition in the cup and they'll score a couple, just like Walsall and Cambridge did.

Difficult to get too bothered about this one (obviously, want a win) when there is such a huge league game to follow.

The starting 11 is a big call. Assuming Carter and Pickering are out for a bit (unknown at this stage) risking both Hyam and Wharton seems a bit mental.

Not one post in this thread after apparently one of the worst performances at Ewood in years. We are rock bottom of the table on points gained since December too. Is no one concerned?

I can't for the life of me see how people aren't concerned. Looks like the manager has lost the plot and the owners aren't interested in investing anything.

If we stay up this season it will be because other teams don't win enough. QPR won yesterday and we should have been beaten by Huddersfield at home. The gap is down to 9 and we can't even buy a win.
