Understanding the timeline of the recent Duncan- transfer it all points to Pune and Venkys, though.

His DOF-role has effectively been reduced to getting freebies and loans.

If that’s all Broughton does as you claim then he’s under employed, overpaid, and isn’t actually very good at it. Another case for getting rid of the DoF role and letting a manger do the job

Just when you think things can't possibly get worse, they do.

When contemplating the last thirteen years of cack-handed buffoonery, Machiavellian malevolence, and sheer willful (gleeful?) neglect, I am often reminded of James stockdale the us air pilot shot down during the Vietnam war. As he elected from his plane, he thought to himself "I am leaving the world of technology, and entering the world of epictetus". The Vietnamese leathered the crap out of the guy for most of his seven or so years of incarceration. But never once did he submit. They broke his leg twice. His reliance on stoicism and faith that one day the ordeal would be over, whilst accepting the reality of his current situation, gave rise to the term stockdale paradox.

I mention all this because we parachuted over hanoi the day these pustulous turd-picking banjo-strumming freak shows were allowed to buy our beloved club. We left the world of competence and astute guardianship of the club by custodians who genuinely cared. And we entered a world of unremitting pain as people I wouldn't leave in charge of a tuck shop set about recklessly running this club into the ground.

Venkys may be breaking my legs, but they'll never break my spirit. In the dichotomy of control, I do not give my energy to contemplating what a galactic mess these fucking idiots have created. It is a, test sent by the gods to test my spirit, to see if I can be broken. But I won't, and one day the Venky Cong will be banished.

BACK US. Never bow (I'd rather fucking die), stay off the air, admit no crimes, never kiss them goodbye, unity over self.

And if fat barry wants a square go, he only had to ask. He can bring his big scary metal bar and his girlfriend off her likes. No bother

That’s the old Bryan I remember

    Lovely

  3. Tomasson has shown himself to be a one-dimensional manager capable of getting the team to play attractive football at times in the modern style but incapable of organising a defence and making the team hard to beat when it isn't playing well.

He's likeable but there's also clearly a touch of arrogance. In our current predicament he should put his ego to one side now. If he cared about the club - and the fans - he should resign this week.

We have no hope. Just spoke to a fellow fan on the train who described the transfer window as very good under the circumstances and no concerns over the ownership. Said he felt more connected to the club than ever and that we would be in serious trouble if it wasn't for the owners. When asked about the decade absence I was told to be grateful for the monetary support over the years.

Read the Rovers Facebook page - it's full of the same sort of statements and although there's a few dissidents it seems to be the accepted narrative there where this place is very much anti-Venkys.

Have they got it right and we've got it wrong?.

That man is a cabbage. The sort of person who would believe a minister saying everything is great, when their employer goes bust and they can't find another job in his area.

There are parallels. Never question what they're doing, or that they might be corrupt, or that they might be working against your interests and in fact couldn't give two diddly-squats about you

It has been moved by the BBC now. Either way I'll be on the beach in Rio.

Cost of living crisis hitting hard?

While you’re there find us  some players on the Copacabana. You’ll have to the paperwork though as the club clearly can’t

Oh I think he did care, I really rate him as a manager. But I think hes got to the point where its all such a clown show, and the goal post keep moving etc, that hes checked out and feels miminal accountability for how the team is performing.

We've been dragged into a relegation battle in a death spiral which puts Mowbray in the shade but you wouldnt guess it from his demeanor or what he says.

Hes been sold a pup so I dont blame him - in his position I would probably react much the same - but that doesn't take away from the fact the manager / coach needs to take accountability and lead. And if hes checked out then that is very very bad news.

Sorry, this is letting Tomasson off the hook. All the above is true but that doesn't excuse the way the team was set up and played today. And it's not as if today was unusual, it's been the same for weeks and weeks, the team is in freefall and heading for the bottom 3 at a rapid rate.

This is all down to Tomasson, and if he's feeling hard done by and sulking then it's a poor show and unprofessional on his part. He needs to show some respect  to the fans, work with what's he's got and get the team picking up points again. Even some draws would be encouraging.

It isn't fair. We've been the worse side but they're hardly battering us 3-0. The boos are because of the frustration at an awful window and a ludicrously mismanaged club - that's not the players' fault at all.

I hope you’re including Tomasson in that. This is his team out there today

Actually that is a fair point, and one that I'd not considered up to now.

It seems a little odd though that the cretins who have deliberately caused him to be in such a difficult situation should suddenly spout a conscience 'for his protection'. More likely they fear the truth that he is quite capable of speaking, which would mean the cockroaches were brought into daylight.

You got it right this sentence. They were afraid of what he might come out with. I still doesn't make much sense though because presumably he'll have his say when he leaves, which could be today according to some

The only constant in the last 13.3 years is venkys.

I wouldn’t dream of letting my staff take a bullet for me. Also if they are unfit for purpose a P45 works wonders

their name is over the door simple.

We all know Venkys take very little interest in what happens at Ewood, unless money is involved

And we all know who is responsible for the day-to-day management of the club. The latest farce is yet another example of their incompetence and poor decision-making.

The club could function properly, even with our arrogant, absentee owners. But these aren't good people in the Ewood boardroom. That must be obvious

  10. 253 all out and another mountain to climb. England got away with it in the first Test but batting fourth is unlikely to happen again. The Times made England favourites to win the second Test which never made much sense

I’ve HEARD last night that JDT was fuming about Wharton leaving as the entire way of playing was built round a central pivot point. Unhappy with the signings and the club probably (my guess) knew that in the current circumstances his interview wouldn’t be well received by fans and would only cause more negativity. He was not a happy man last night apparently.

It's a surprise he's still here to be honest. I thought he would have walked by now. He can't need the money so I'm not sure what's keeping him at Ewood except pride and perhaps a desire to see the season out.

I also don't understand why he puts up with the coach / DoF model either. He's be far better for himself and the club as an old fashioned manager with responsibility for signings and coaching

I accept that the Wharton money will go on running costs but it begs the question what do we do in summer? There isn't another Wharton coming through who we can sell.

I doubt we will get dragged into a relegation battle this season but what happens next season?  Loaned players and those out of contract will depart - leaving us with another major rebuild.

This transfer window has been a sticking plaster over our structural problems to get us through the next 4-5 months. What they've done is kick the can down the road, in others words put off hard decisions until the summer.

They're hoping the court case resolves itself and the club can perhaps move forward. But there's a possibility that it won't - and we'll still be in this same situation in the run-up to next season.

As it stands, with so many loanees and the squad constantly in flux, there will need to be another rebuilding job in the summer, possibly searching for a new manager too.  And so it continues
