Eustace said we were "outstanding on and off the ball" post match. Obviously a pinch of salt needed as its obviously partly aimed to motivate but whilst we were well set up off the ball, on the ball we certainly weren't outstanding. We gave the ball away quite a lot and didn't create much in the way of clear cut opportunities.

    It's all relative.

Those who were there will never forget the 5-2 beating of Plymouth, being 0-2 down at halftime after missing a penalty and scoring 5 goals in the second half to win it. Don Martin was brilliant that night. I’m pretty sure it was on my birthday 15/02/75. That was a must win game to get promoted from div 3. To say I was depressed at halftime and ecstatic at full time is putting it mildly!! It was one of the most exciting games I have ever seen at Ewood. I stood near the back of the Riverside in the middle. Great days. 😊

1-2 at half time.  I remember it well.

Also worth noting that the likes of Hull, Ipswich and Coventry were all getting much lower gates at this level, down in the teens rather than 20's, until recently.

Then all three got taken over and new owners delivered a wave of optimism and engagement and attendances rocketed.

Still apparently such a fate is impossible here.

It is "impossible" because our owners don't want to sell.

  4. Just come up on my FB timeline:

"For sheer number of teams: move to London. Boring! For sheer number per capita: the plot thickens. The Telegraph’s Jonathan Liew crunched numbers in 2015 to find England’s “greatest football city” via clubs per population: Manchester, followed by Liverpool and then – interesting! – Blackburn."

  5. My main reflection this morning is that Eustace could be the real deal.  How he got that performance is beyond me.  It was noteworthy too that when required the players could still pass the ball in tight spaces a la JDT, but also got rid when they needed to.

I thought playing Sammie as a flash nine with SG and Dolan either side looked excellent and when Siggy came on I thought the position suited him perfectly.

So, I think we've managed to get a good coach, which is the most important thing we need right now.
