Gallagher plays out of position most games and is still coming back from injury, he defends at corners and free kicks, attacks and generally runs his socks off, he's a mangers dream and scores a few in the process.
The knee jerk reaction on here after Hull was embarrassing, he was poor along with 10 others, but the continued criticism of Gallagher makes no sense to anyone who watches us on a regular basis. If you're expecting 20 goals a season from out wide good luck, Gallagher is an excellent player at this level, is still only young and no wonder Mowbray gave him a new contract.
I don't think it was knee-jerk after Hull. Did you see his performance the week before against Cardiff? Or when he came on against Huddersfield? Both were poor.
For my money he still flattered to deceive on Monday. He may have bagged a goal but he is incredibly frustrating to watch. You're a big, strong unit, put yourself about and win some headers!

Nyambe and Trav really did make all the difference. Nyambe may not be so good at crossing the ball but his runs forward with pace and drive really do help us turn teams around quickly.
Was impressed with Zeefuik's cameo too. The guy looks big and very fast!

Massive. Huge. Very big.
Whichever way you slice it tonight was so important in so many ways. After a series of drab performances (if not necessarily results) we really needed boys to become men tonight and wow did we step up.
Literally could have burst I was so emotional at the final whistle.
I feel really proud to be a Blackburn Rovers fanatic at the moment and it's been a really long time since we've been able to say that.

I didn’t know Gallagher had any hold up play. I await it’s emergence tonight.
I repeatedly see Gallagher and hold-up in the same sentence. The only way they should be is as follows: Gallagher cannot hold-up the ball.

Let's not throw the baby out with the bath water and start changing formation akin to vs. Hull. The lack of any robustness around Rothwell and Buckley was suicide IMO. Don't know if anyone else picked up on the fact that Buckley seemed to be so high up the pitch on Weds and seemed to realise he was playing 8 and not 10 and dropped himself back?! We have pressed very well from the front recently and it will be important to do the same with having an anchor in midfield to protect the back 3. We should have straight-swapped Travis for Davenport / Johnson but fortunately the Invisible Man should be back.
Kaminski
Lenihan Van Hecke Wharton
Nyambe Travis Rothwell Edun
BuckleyKhadra Gallagher
The ONLY reason I would pick Gallagher is basically because we have nobody else. Since his return from his injury lay-off he has been plop and was absolutely awful vs. both Cardiff and Hull. We shouldn't do anything other then stick to the system we have done so well with. Don't expect Gallgher to hold the ball up and battering ram his way through as he can't do it. He simply doesn't have it in his locker. What he can do is run and harry defenders and he needs to emulate BBD in that regard on Monday
I think we will do OK here with both Nyambe and Travis back but I'd take a point if you offered it to me now.

Really, really bad performance but we've ridden our lack for the last 4 games.
The changes to the formation have blown us apart

Very, very poor. The only positive is we won't be any worse in the 2nd half.

Shape here is screwing us. Rothwell and Buckley are too lightweight as a 2 and Gallagher has literally not touched the football.

Yes I would. Think we need him to run the channels and close down their back lline plus hold the ball up tonight
Plus after tonight game we are without Brereton for 2 games whilst he plays for Chile in international games
If you're wanting someone to hold the ball up I wouldn't be picking Gallagher!

Looks like a really good, signing. We appear to have found a style of play that suits the club and are buying players to fit that system. So often we have square-pegged in to round holes and right about now those making the signings are doing well.

That's rubbish saying Davenport is terrible. The lads not had enough minutes to make that sort of silly statement. Whenever he has had minutes he looks decent enough at Championship level and is only a young lad with room for growth. Just needs to keep injury free and get some matches under his belt then maybe we will see the real Davenport who was highly thought of at Citeh
Davenport isn't rubbish at all. In the games I've seen him play this season I've thought he has done well.
Johnson is probably also involved more because he is vastly more experienced than any of the squad. When managing games he has been a great older head to add to the midfield.

I don't understand where this "Gallagher held up the ball well" came from. He didn't hold the ball up once. The ball kept pinging back.
Big Sam had a stinker yesterday. The guy is feckin huge but for someone so big his ability to hold up the ball is horrific. I almost put my foot through the TV yesterday when he lost the ball for the umpteenth time when we were under the cosh.

On Darragh; anyone know where he lives? Sure Ive come across him running in sunny Southport but not 100%?!

Feel the skipper deserves some more credit. He's been immense this season and he is on course to be in contention for our player of the season if he continues his current form.

Massive, massive win especially with Bournemouth slipping up.
It was apoplectic during the last 10 mins with the lack of nouce of Gallagher but our 3/4 centre halves are so good they made it all look very easy so I needed not of worried...although Kaminski's was absolutely top drawer especially with the player immediately in front of him making a swipe at the ball.

Gallagher fuck me. GET IT IN TO THE CORNER

Our biggest game of the season so far.
Lost a bit of momentum IMO so could do with another 'spark'. A solid win or last minute draw will give us that self belief again.
I seem to remember against Sheff Utd it was a crunching tackle from Travis.
Got a good feeling though. Cardiff are no great shakes and we should do well.

The same as most I assume, I had never heard of him before. A little research suggests he has a decent pedigree.

I work in data and the old addage of lies, damn lies and statistics often rings true 🙂
But I get the point entirely. He was much improved on Monday and I celebrated as much as anybody when he scored. The goal and subsequent result could be a huge moment in the history for our club.
I think we can all agree that Gallagher doesn't make the most of his available facets and that in reality the most who are annoyed are in reality frustrated. We see passing glimpses of the potential for a very good footballer he needs to string it all together.
