  1. Past hour
  2. Last summers transfer thread should see you right
  3. He was arguably our player of the season.
  4. Derby came in and took our manager. What hope do we have of stopping a player going there?
  5. All signings are a gamble, the club might be looking at an opportunity where a clause can be triggered to get a bargain price. I like Batth but if we can get this French lad across the line then, for me, it's a good start to the window...At least we know our recruitment team are being slightly adventurous.
  6. If Batth, Dolan and Weiman go. I make that 9 signings needed at a minimum this summer.
  7. Today
  8. I do not see us spending anywhere near Β£3M on any individual player, I am assuming we are interested because there is a low release clause which has become active due to their relegation (purely a guess re the clause, but it would make some sense)
  9. You'll only truly know that this time next year whereas we know Batth is a good solid reliable player. Why gamble a fee and longer contract on something we don't know when it's easier and cheaper to get another season out of Batth and see where we are next summer, ie a whole 12 months to plan.
  10. Depends on whether the player is as good or better than Batth. If not it's a poor result. Age is immaterial at a club where contracts aren't handled properly as they will simply walk elsewhere, even if we get some cash it doesn't come back in. Someone younger than Batth on a longer contract but who costs more and is inferior or takes half a season to settle in isn't a good move.
  11. Eddie's view is fair enough. I was replying to Bank End Rover. FWIW I don't see us spending anywhere near E3m on a CB. We seem to be loath to spend half of that on a striker
  12. No, signing a player who is better than Batth, is a better result
  13. I've no real view on signing this particular player either way other than it is a fairy speculative link and if it came to fruition one very much on the riskier end of the scale. It's using that very tenuous link to justify not re-signing Batth (who is proven at this level) that I don't agree with. It's not part of a grand masterplan to bring the age of the squad down either. We've offered Batth terms but so far he's rejected them.
  14. To be honest that could be said for all transfers
  15. I am assuming from his post yesterday, that Eddie has seen him play
  16. I'm guessing you've never seen this lad play, I certainly haven't, one of those who could be great or could be absolutely terrible I'd assume. Edit: That's assuming we're even genuinely interested in him which we won't be if there's much of a fee involved I don't suppose.
  17. That's because realistically, the chances of us bringing in a younger player who's better than Batth on a longer contract are slim to none and Slim left town some time ago
  18. Means absolutely nothing. Ligue 1 is a tough league with the majority of teams being a lot better than championship clubs...A handful of Luton players walk into our team and they're in league 1.
  19. Didn't his side finish rock bottom of their League?
  20. Potentially yes, but rational discussion has long left the building.
  21. Batth leaving and us signing a player who's younger and on a longer contract is surely a better result no?
  22. That’s already begun courtesy of Jackson’s story today. Both Weimann and Batth have links to the midlands.
  23. A sensible post - IF we can get Sagnan over the line, then on paper, it's one of the better signings we've made over the past few windows.
  24. Which has nothing to do with what I posted. And the people upset we are going to lose Batth and Weimann are the same people who were upset we were signing them last summerπŸ˜‰
  25. Posted this on another thread a while ago. Would argue that losing Batth is damaging if we can't replace his experience. We currently have two keepers who doesn't command their box or instill confidence to the backline (although Toth has made some improvements lately), meaning that there will be a lack of leadership at the back if Batth goes.
