Can any of our South African members provide more info?

Do we have any link with this club?

If not, then begs the question why not!!

Surely Rovers could supply them old kit or something similar....

sorry i know this is very very old, but ive only seen this now. Yes, there is a Blackburn Rovers in SA.. I think they are now basically a semi pro team, possibly down to an amateur team now. I havent followed them much, but they were bordering on PL football in South Africa, but were not as strong as some of the other teams in the 1st division, or had the resources and money to compete.

they are from the Eastern Cape, Port Elizabeth or in that particular region.

i follow Ajax Cape Town, so not sure how this team is doing currently, possibly still in the 1st Divi

Would be a great idea for the club to play them whilst on a pre-season tour of South Africa next year. Palace have just been in the Cape Town Cup so we should be looking to do something similar and have a game with Blackburn Rovers SA whilst out there.

Of course such a plan would require planning, organisation and dare I say it some ambition from whoever is responsible. Much easier to play Wigan at home and Rochdale away.

The real Blackburn Rovers will not allow a disabled supporters group of their own supporters to use their name i.e. Blackburn Rovers and yet don't appear to have a problem with another Club using it, or has Shelfy got a lawsuit in progress, not that he'll know anyway until his lackeys read here. (I've got no personal prob with the SA Club, just to clarify)

Which Rovers are you on about Iceman? ;)

Could also be an apt statement when he's finally potted.

Here's the article about Rovers banning the Disabled supporters from using their name (I assume it's only registered in the UK?) because "it didn't make administrative sense"

Administrative sense?? As Biff from Back to the future would say "Administrative sense? HELLO!!!! Derek Shaw, DUH!!!

oh right Shaun, we are just as in a financial mess as the SA Rovers lol... bloody hell, hahaha..

still cant understand the banning the name from the Disabled supporters. You would think such petty stuff is the least of the clubs worries. They have more time to go and ban people for using the name, than actually banning Shelfy from entering Ewood etc

i cant remember, when Rovers actually played a proper pre season friendly overseas, well away from the UK. Germany perhaps?

Probably when we played against Go Ahead Eagles in 2012. The Portimonese friendly in 2013 was part of the arrangement to sign one of the Portuguese players so doesn't really count as the club was contracted to do it.
