Trained for years as an astronaut, selected above your peers, the excitement of the mission, the concerns for your family...... it must still have taken some balls to do it, and especially so after the Apollo 1 fire which killed 3 astronauts just a couple of years earlier. A great man but at 82 not a reason to mourn his passing but rather a time to celebrate his achievements.
