Even if he was on £500 a week it's wasted money. He was awful when he first came and didn't get any better and if the coaches (or whoever) couldn't see that then they should pack up.

We are stuck with him this season and next. He has no saleable value so to get rid we will have to pay him off.

In terms of wasted money it's probably the top of the iceberg but it's all relative.

Agreed, I'd rather spend that money on hiring reasonable serving staff for the concourse who aren't all kids and can serve at a decent pace.

Kill two birds with one stone.

Have him as 5th choice (or whatever number he is) ‘keeper and train him to serve in the concourse too.

Edmondson has just scored an absolute stunner to put Macclesfield 2-1 up in extra time.

Played as the deep laying midfielder, may need recalling given Tronstad & Forshaw injures

Grant McCann seems unaware of how terrible Rovers are with communication 😉

https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/25679653.blackburn-rovers-stance-january-recall-defender/

Doncaster boss Grant McCann is wary he could lose O'Riordan but stated last week that nothing had been communicated on whether Rovers would recall the defender.

"We have to be mindful that with some of the loan players there's break clauses in there," McCann told Doncaster Free Press.

There are agreements in place for both parties so we just have to be mindful of that. We have to be prepared for whatever January throws at us because you just don't know with this particular window. But we're prepared in every position and so if we need to go and act then we're ready to do that."

"No, nothing as of yet," he added on communications over their loanees.

"But I don't think any club wants to make decisions right now. I think we have nine or ten games before that decision has to be made in January.

"Even if clubs are thinking of it (recall), I don't think they want to let their players know yet anyway, because it's not great if they know that they're going to be pulled back in January. All of a sudden you can lose focus or form. But, as I say, we're prepared for that."

It’s sweet he thinks there’s logic behind our lack of communication.

It does sound like his form has petered out. We should keep him out on loan and buy a proper seasoned CB or two.

He is a young centre back learning the ropes, they are almost always due a lapse in concentration or 2.

Still has to be taken into account that he is playing regularly at a higher level than Wharton, Carter & Lenihan were at the same age.  But absolutely should be kept on loan and not be brought back to sit on the bench as a cheaper option to bringing in someone

Yeh absolutely not ruling him out. But needs to keep developing for now.

Starts today for

O'Riordan - lost 4-3 - replaced after 58 minutes whilst 3-2 down - Connor O'Riordan 4 - One of many at fault for the second and then got outmuscled by Salech for the third, just after half-time. Not a day to remember for the loanee, who was hooked just before the hour

Wood - won 2-0 - replaced after 75 minutes with the score at 1-0

On the bench

Barrett - lost 4-1 - remained on the bench throughout

Edmondson - won 1-0 - FA Trophy game, looks like a rotated side - came on after 65 minutes with the score at 1-0

Not involved in matchday squad

Olson & O'Grady-Macken - drew 2-2

Farkas - won 2-0

Second non-league loan spell where Boggan played zero minutes? The signs are concerning that these clubs don't want to put him on the pitch. Keep him at the club and let him get some goals at U21s and have some starts.

He started one game just after his loan started, &  then came off the bench in the next.   He was then absent from their squad entirely for the rest of his loan spell

The half term (ish) report - links should be to each players stats  (The posted stats for 7th tier and below look hit and miss at best, Wood for example has been pretty much an ever present, but is recorded on the cited site as having played once)

Connor O'Riordan until last week had played almost every minute in the league (3rd tier).  Doncasters (& O'Riordans) August was great, but they have won 1 league game since the first week in September, whilst he will almost certainly be recalled, he is not the answer in defence and will be back up to Miller (Carter too if he ever gets fit)

Leo Duru has hardly featured is the MLS, but he was named in what looks to be a retained list for San Diego, so anticipate him staying until June at least and possibly having his move made permanent as one for the future

Charlie Olson has not  featured in the 4th tier, did sit on the bench for a while, played in some cup games

Harley O'Grady-Macken has not played a minute in the 4th tier

Jack Barrett has sat on the bench in the league (4th tier), played in the cups, has not pulled up trees

James Edmondson is a fixture in Macclesfield's side (6th tier), scored a cracker in the FA Cup.  would not be surprised (partially due to cost cutting) for him to be back up to Tronstads replacement next season

George Pratt did well in the 6th tier before being recalled and is now a regular for Rovers

Harrison Wood starts every game for a team who sit 3rd place in the 7th tier, has scored a couple

Patrik Farkas hardly featured in the 7th tier

Joe Boggan started 1 game, made another fleeting appearance off the bench in the 7th tier, then disappeared completely until his loan ended

Blake Wolsoncroft filled in for an injured keeper for 1 game in the 7th tier

Jayden Sergeant apparently did well in his month in the 8th tier, started most games, scored,

No sure we have too many who can be classed as having done wonderfully in the first half of the season.  In terms of minutes played, O'Riordan, Edmondson, Pratt & Wood have done ok, but Doncaster/O'Riordans form has fallen off a cliff since very early September and they now sit second bottom of League 1.  Are/were the other 3 playing a level below their ability?

Of the rest, the only one who could be considered anything like a success would be Sergeants month in the 8th tier, where he seemed to impress, did start a few, scored, and looked dangerous, which for a 17/18 year old is not to be sniffed at
