We have had a lot of discussions over the past couple of years about making a significant reduction to ticket prices but it’s always been countered with the need to hit a revenue target that Venky’s have set. They don’t believe that a big reduction would improve sales enough for them to still meet that figure and have dismissed the idea in previous years.

I should also point out that we first pitched our ideas for next season to them months ago, before the transfer window debacle and the complete collapse of our form. We’ve continued to have discussions and since pointed out that they ought to be expecting a significantly bigger drop off in renewals than they have seen for the past couple of years, and that they need to think about doing something drastic to mitigate this before they start thinking about attracting new season ticket holders or re-engaging with lapsed ones.

Does it even get as far as Vs rejecting it or in reality is it just Waggot and their guy in the shadows batting it off using the excuse ?

He does realise there is a bumper pay deal for staying in the Championship this year doesn't he? Wednesday go 1-0 up early, they are having a party at our place at our expense in the league.

He's never had a plan he just wings it year to year just looks at the min income target to ensure he stays in his job then looks for ways to guarantee hitting it.

A few grand from a couple of thousand extra Sheff Weds fans isn't going to make or break this seasons finances we'd just sold 25 mill worth of players FFS.  Losing our Championship status might just break the club though over the next couple of years but i suspect he'll be sat at home enjoying the millions he's earned here by then.

  3. Too many of the senior pros heads are elsewhere by the looks of it but who is surprised they've probably all been told they can leave for the right offer in summer.

Some are blaming the rumour that they tried to flog Hyam in Jan behind his back but is there any actual evidence of it and how do we know he didn't indicate he'd be up for it ?

There were scores of Rovers fans at that last one (including me and about 8 mates) wanting to witness the fuckers losing their league status.

Was at Oldham away and i recall it was scorching hot (yes in early May) and was puzzled Rovers fans were chanting Orient until my mates dad explained why 🤣

Only other thing i remember is we got walloped on the pitch and there was fighting in the enclosure at the side !

You would hope they're drawing up plans right now to offer home fans entrance for £10 and get the place sold out.

Not a chance, all he sees is another 20k crowd, almost half made up of away fans.

How much did he waste on Fleck ?

Yet no one calls out these stupid decisions when it's easier to blame fans for not turning up.

He went into games against Plymouth and Millwall looking for a draw. That says it all really.

I said right at the time those games would haunt us, if we'd gone for it even if we'd won one lost one we are a point better off now.

People will say 'hindsight' but no the questions were raised at the time pre match they should have been viewed as must win, we've seen what we can do when that is the mentality.

  7. This cockwomble has also given Sheff Wed  the full 7k therefore giving them their cup final when literally everything should be done to be providing every ounce of home advantage we can find.

He genuinely doesn't give a fuck about anything other than his bonus related income sheet.

  8. I've defended him and stand by that because he was just brought in to fight fires, use what he has and came into a bit of a hopeless situation at a hopelessly run club.

However that tonight was as bad as it gets in all areas including subs and tactics.

Still think he'll do enough to grind us to safety but i'll confidently predict we'll be howling for his head by next Oct.

  9. Sick of this prat now he turns up when he feels like it the rest of the time saunters around in a daze yet first to shush frustrated loyal paying fans, moan about them in meetings and on commentary,

Arrogant useless tit, first out the door in summer for me if we can get a fee.

This isn't knee jerk iv'e never taken to him he reminds me so much of Scott Dann, can be a good player but he's no captain. Didn't want to leave Coventry they had to sell him, came here to challenge the top 6 but looks disinterested half the time because that's not happening.

Just here as a stepping stone, well step off it elsewhere and lets bring a defender in who concentrates for 95 mins every game.

  10. Cheston knew Rovers well enough to know that would go down like a lead balloon with fans but he was serving and defending his masters for his own ends.

Anyone with an ounce of care for the club or the fans would have been steadfastly against the appointment of Coyle for a host of reasons and it wouldn't be personal towards the man himself. He also knew but like Kean would put up with horrendous flak for his 30pcs of silver.

Balls to the pair of them.

They could just use the money saved by not clicking send on the McGuire deal.

Or a very small piece of the 30 plus million they'll have guaranteed as income inside a year by the time they sell Sammie.

If you aren't going to sign good players and still sell all the best ones you have you aren't going to pull in a good crowd it's basic football logic for any club.  Constantly weakening yourselves and running a low cost high risk model does not appeal to a fanbase.

So you have to find a way to compensate for that in order to draw in as much support as possible.

Otherwise you reap what you sow.

  12. Cheaper options will be very welcome to some for sure but in terms of the overall picture it won't make a difference especially on the back on this last seasons mess both here and in India.

Just knock 50 quid off all current holders and 30 off new/lapsed buyers.

That should ensure another 9k maybe even grow it a bit to 10k which should be the target, one good cup game or loose change from Wharton/Raya covers it.

A good gesture that won't break the bank.

    What year was this?
I am seeing 1981… what a close race that was.

My first year of college; I had never even heard of Blackburn Rovers at this time, way deep in the piney woods of East Texas.

If you can find one anywhere on Ebay or similar Rovers did a promotion celebrating brochure which told the story of the season before that.

I got one from somewhere and it's one of my prized possessions even though i didn't experience that season it's quite a story and remember there was no money around anywhere back then so they did it all with next to nothing running off their own income.

    Came so close.

I would enjoy hearing the song.

Rovers were on for a back to back promotion back to the top league but missed out on goal difference due to a 0-0 at Bristol on the final day.  If Preston had beaten Swansea at home it would have been enough to see Rovers over the line but they bent over and got rogered.

5000 Rovers fans headed down to Bristol and clashed at various Mway services with Swansea fans heading to Preston.

'It was on that famous Saturday the second day of May we met a bunch of Swansea fans on the motorway, we said we'll win promotion, we said we're going up, but on the famous Saturday Preston fucked it up, na nan na'
