Must admit came away from the ground with the same view. Whislt I always enjoy going to matches I am seriously beginning to wonder whether it is worth the time and effort attending such cup ties. A 2/3 empty stadium, key players being rested, opposition who we should be steamrollering but don't and generally a lack of enthusiasm for this competition. On the plus side I think we saw a fantastic performance from Brett Emerton who is playing like a man possessed. Well done Brett

Via huddersfield!!!! This debate is pointless because we all know that the only thing that will bring the crowds in, is success on the pitch. Then even those who say they can't fork out will somehow manage to raid their piggy banks once a fortnight.

Give the lad a break, he's played 3 games so far and we've only lost 1 of them. He needs encouragement, not criticism, and hopefully he will adjust to life in the Premiership. We need a squad of good players and I don't think Souness's judgment has been too bad to date.

Maybe not the best defender but going forward he was great. John Bailey for me. Oh forgot to mention he was a good friend of mine, many a good Sat night was had down at the Lodestar?

Never seen him play - is he any good? If so why is he coming to Rovers? Last Pederson we had wasn't much good as I recall. Is he related?

Head injury or no head injury he's better than all the other strikers (Stead excepted) give him an extended run. Maybe Souness was riding pillion when the taxi hit him. Seems that all we've done is replace good players with average players.

Difficult for me to comment, not living in Blackburn, but if this is true then it's very worrying. Hopefully its just a phase the club is going through.

Or increase the capacity to 40k and halve the prices. We're doing OK on attendances. Staying in the prem is the most important factor as far as TV money is concerned and more than makes up for money lost at the gate. Anyway I have a feeling we're gonna have a fantastic season so those who haven't renewed are gonna regret it come Xmas. Just my humble opinion

Apologies if this has already been mentioned but haven't the obscene ticket prices got something to do with it? When you consider what the average wage must be in the Blackburn area there must be a lot of families who simply can't afford to shell out that kind of money for a football match. Why for the same as one match you can have a month's worth on Sky. The Leeds fiasco will do finances in the game in this country a lot of good. Clubs need to get the wage levels down so that tickets can once again be affordable.

FFS the fixtures have not even been unscrambled by the Premier League's computer and we're already arguing about how well we and Souness will do next season. OK last season was a struggle but thats behind us now and personally I'm looking forward to Euro 2004 and my hols rather than worrying about whether Souness will still be our manager in October.

Just got tickets for a quarter final in Lisbon on 25th but want 2 tickets for England v Croatia on 21st which I understand are still available. Anyone got any ideas how I may get some as I'm not a member of the englandfans club. Any help would be appreciated.

Nothing wrong with Jan supporting two teams, after all they are not even in the same country. As for Jan's commitment to Rovers I don't think anyone can doubt it, travelling hundreds of miles as she does. And she has every right to have an opinion on Souness as we all have. Just not sure if it's always for Rovers related reasons!

Maybe we should have taken more notice when we were beaten by a "sub standard" Leeds side at Elland Rd. I agree with Jim Mk2, we don't seem to have players who can measure up at this level of football. If we are to survive then it will be through fight and effort. Lets hope we can manage some of that in the last few games

Nice one Paul, Of course we're all naffed off that things aren't going well but if we are to get out of this problem we need to have faith in the players and manager. Yes it was a sacrilege to throw a two goal lead away but that's football. Even if we sign two new players this month they will take time to settle in with no guarantee they will do so smoothly. We desperately need a fit Craig Short other than that the team is OK.

So a question then? Is it better to play well and lose (a la Boro/Celtic away) or play rubbish and get a point or three? For me there's no doubt. But that could mean we get relegated.

I would just like to clarify what I originally said at the start of this thread. The comparison between the Parkhead area of Glasgow and Beirut was made by a Scottish friend who happened to be travelling through the area on his way from Dundee to a match at Partick. It was not my view. I personally have never, before last Thursday, been to either Glasgow (or Beirut for that matter). My intention was to urge caution against Rovers fans encountering any trouble whilst visiting that particular area of Glasgow based on what I had been told. Thankfully, as far as I'm aware no trouble occurred. In fact it seems that most Rovers fans were given a warm welcome. I'm glad that some of the locals have taken the trouble to defend their city as it shows that they are proud of it and that the image it portrays to others is not quite what it seems.

Didn't get chance to see much of Glasgow last night as we stayed outside the city, but have to say that it didn't look half as bad as I had been led to expect. OK, it's clear that this part of Glasgow "has seen better days" as they say, and that a lot of the older housing is being knocked down to make way for more amenable facilities. This is typical of many big cities across the UK. What did impress me however was the friendliness of the few Glaswegians we happened to meet, from the taxi driver (who never stopped winding us up about the violence we might encounter) to the Celtic fan we drank with until the early hours. An experience I would not have missed depite the result.

Thanks for the reassurance aldo 63 Please do not see my previous message as a slur on the east end of Glasgow or Celtic in any way. I am simply passing on what I have been told by my friend who is a Dundee Utd fan. I have no reason to doubt what he says. However I accept that there are good and bad in all towns and cities and will be going to the match regardless. I hope (if the opportunity arises) to share some of your Scottish hospitality with like minded football supporters who can accept the occasion for what it is and respect the opposition, regardless of the result.

Just had a warning from a Scottish colleague at work who reckons that the part of Glasgow we will be visiting is comparable to Beirut and that at the last Old Firm game there were 47 stabbings on the day. Please take care wherever you are staying/ drinking etc. Hope to see everyone safe and sound on this board at the week-end.

Don't know what all the fuss is about, Tris. I thought the UEFA Cup was low priority. Can't get excited about it personally. Why on earth should people be falling over themselves to try to get tickets for some meaningless match in a meaningless competition. PS. See you at Parkhead tomorrow
